#CancelColbert and Context

#CancelColbert is stupid, right? Because the Twitter activists behind it aren’t taking into account the context that it’s a liberal saying racist things to attribute racist sentiments to the Republican owner of a football team.

Of course if context mattered, the Redskins were named after an Indian coach, local tribal leaders have no problem with the name and white liberal opponents keep citing a handful of young activists with few tribal ties and a casino tycoon from out of state who has been accused of numerous abuses by his own tribe.

But it’s not like context matters

Robert “Two Eagles” Green is the longtime and recently retired chief of the Patawomeck Tribe, a state-recognized tribe in Fredericksburg, Virginia, said “I think that first of all, you have to make a decision whether you consider it offensive or not. And frankly, the members of my tribe — the vast majority — don’t find it offensive. I’ve been a Redskin fan for years. And to be honest with you, I would be offended if they DID change it.”

“Well, I think that first of all, our country has become too politically correct.”

“And I think what you have to do is look at where the name Redskins originated,” he continued. “There are some that give the term Redskin a negative connotation — to indicate that it was created by the white man to offend the Indians — but in reality the term Redskins came from the Indians. And they referred to themselves oftentimes — in treaty negotiations, in meetings with the early settlers – as Redskins. So it’s not a term that the white man created; it’s actually a term that the Indians themselves created.”

But again, context doesn’t matter. What matters is that someone has decided to be offended without caring about context.

Colbert was pathetically championing his usual out-of-context offensiveness (but it’s funny because he’s pretending to be a conservative racist) only to be accused of being offensive out of context.

Once you stop paying attention to context, the only distinction is ‘tribal’ identity. Liberals assume that they can never be racist only to be attacked by activists even further to the left and so and so forth…

The whole point of political correctness was to supplant true morality, ie Judeo-Christian morality. One of the intended benefits of political correctness was immunity from its pseudo-moral code for the high priests of PC. One of the unintended consequences of creating a false moral code for destructive purposes is that because it is highly subjective, and based in judgementalism, it encourages a death spiral of intolerance which eventually ensares even established high priests. The environmental religion, being just as false and inextricably intertwined with political correctness, has the same dynamic of death spiral fanaticism. Taken to its extremes, which is what extremists do, people will be exterminated for violating laws that have no foundation in truth.

The left has begun to eat its own children. It has lost the ability to distinguish reality from its own hatred of reality.
