CBS Reporter Investigating Fast and Furious and Benghazi Resigns Over Liberal Bias

It was bound to happen. Sharyl Attkisson had become frustrated trying to report on an administration that the CBS brass insisted on covering for. Her computer was hacked and there was apparently much more also going on behind the scenes.

Attkisson won five Emmy awards at CBS.

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network’s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network’s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

At the same time, Attkisson’s own reporting on the Obama administration, which some staffers characterized as agenda-driven, had led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting. She is currently at work on a book — tentatively titled “Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington” — which addresses the challenges of reporting critically on the Obama administration…

Attkisson had become a polarizing figure at the network, sources there said. While some championed her relentless dedication to investigations — ranging from defective Firestone tires to the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal — others saw evidence of a political agenda, particularly against President Barack Obama. (The bulk of Attkisson’s work since 2009 has focused on the failures or perceived failures of the Obama administration, including its failed green-energy investments and the attack in Benghazi, though she has reported on several Republican failures as well.)

Others have suggested that CBS News itself was politically biased: “It’s no secret that Sharyl has been unhappy about CBS’s lack of interest in investigative reporting, especially when it comes to stories about the Obama administration,” a source close to Attkisson said.

The fact that Attkisson was reporting on scandals involving the actual administration in power was itself seen as bias.

That tells you all you need to know about how broken journalism is.

  • Gee

This is the most corrupt administration in history. If the extreme leftist media didn’t protect Odumba – he would have been impeached in his first term

    • truebearing

If they had exposed his rather obvious ties to communism, Islam, and Louis Farrakhan, not to mention his fondness for crack and homosexuals, he never would have been elected in the first place.

I’m not a journalist or a professional investigator, but when Obama announced his candidacy, I began researching him immediately. His candidacy set off alarms that I had never felt before, despite having weathered the battles against the likes of Clinton, Gore, and Kerry. His membership in the New Party — the New Party being a collaboration between the Democratic Socialists of America and CPUSA — wasn’t that hard to find. His problems with Larry Sinclair were easy to find. Information on the execution style murders of Donald Young, the gay choir director at Rev Wright’s so-called church, and two other homosexual acquaintences of Obama, were easy to find. Information on his work with Bill Ayers on the Woods Foundation and the Annenberg Challenge were readily available. Yet the media couldn’t seem to find any of it. Obama’s presidency is a conspiracy of ignorance, in the true meaning of the word — to ignore.

    • birdonawire

Not a single member of this administration has been indicted or found guilty of ANYTHING. Pretending that they are the most corrupt in history has zero credibility.

      • truebearing

Nice try, troll. The ONLY reason none have been tried or convicted is because the Department of InJustice is run by a fellow leftist crook who acts as a firewall to prevent any legal consequences for Obama and his minions.

  • truebearing

Our media hasn’t maintained unbiased scrutiny of a Democratic president since before JFK. Now they are actively hostile to people trying to do the job of a journalist. Attkisson should apply at Fox. They’d love to make her the insider on media corruption.

I predict CBS will be sorry she resigned. Now they’ll have to fire up the smear machine to deflect the truth she will spill about their corruption. She’ll win. She’s far more believable.

    • Crassus

Attkisson can do a whole lot better than Fox. There’s no investigative journalism at that network. Just Barbie and Ken dolls reading teleprompters.

      • Boots

And how does “Just Barbie and Ken dolls reading teleprompters” differ from the traditional media? Fox is a business and they’ve found a business model that works. Would I rather watch a bitter leftist hag read a teleprompter or an attractive conservative?

      • rbskillin

You obviously never watch the channel; very little of its content is scripted.

      • truebearing

Rosen has done enough to warrant the DOJ threatening him.

Where would you recommend she go? There isn’t another television option that would be any better than CBS. Fox has its flaws, but it also has a large audience.

  • Larry Larkin

It’s a shame she didn’t do it on air like the reporter on RT. Give her reasons for resigning as the director is frantically trying to shut her down. That would really have driven the point home.

    When Obama’s Failure Is Success . . .

Losing a job is freedom from job lock. A budget deficit larger than in any previous administration is austerity. A mean video caused the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. Al-Qaeda was long ago washed up. The Muslim Brotherhood is secular. Jihad is a personal journey. Shooting and killing people while screaming Allahu akbar! is workplace violence. Unaffordable higher premiums and deductibles are the result of an Affordable Care Act. Losing your doctor and your health-insurance plan prove you will never lose your doctor and your health-insurance plan — period! Being a constitutional lawyer means you know how to turn the IRS and the FCC on your enemies. Failure is success; lies are truth. . . Welcome to Obama’s BazaroWorld

  • EmilyPostModern

that’s where all the money has gone – buying off the media

    • kasandra

They don’t need to be bought off. They do it eagerly and voluntarily.

  • william Batki

I applaud this lady for speaking out. The media bias is a form of corruption and is ruining our nation. Yay Atkinson !!
