CIA Deputy Director Removed “Islamic” from Benghazi Talking Points to Avoid Offending Muslims

You obviously don’t want to offend Muslims in talking points about a Muslim act of terror. Next thing you know, they’ll break into one of your diplomatic missions and kill your ambassador.

Former acting CIA Director Mike Morell testified to the House Intelligence Committee that he is the one who changed the Benghazi talking points.

Morell testified today that a group of intelligence officers from the Office of Congressional Affairs, and CIA public affairs, removed a reference to al Qaeda from the talking points given to Congress.

Congressman: Just want to clarify, how does the term Al Qaeda…how would that disclose classified sources? Number 1 and then secondly, OK if we can get there, you also took out Islamic extremist… (Cross talk)

Morrell: I did not take out extremists, I took out the word Islamic in front of extremist and I took it out for two reasons. Most importantly I took out because we were dealing with protests and demonstrations across much of the Muslim world as a result of the video and the last thing I wanted to do was to was to do anything to further inflame those passions and so that’s why I took the word Islamic out. It was a risk judgment. The second reason I took it out was-What other kind of extremists are there in Libya?

That last observation is amusingly politically incorrect. Whistleblowing ex-CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson has a wider summary of the testimony.

The controversy took place against the backdrop of a Presidential election campaign in which President Obama had claimed al Qaeda was on the run. At today’s hearing, Morell stated that the C.I.A. believed then, and that he still believes, “some of the attackers” were “affiliated with al Qaeda.” That information, too, was edited out of the talking points but Morell said he was not responsible for that word change.

“I did not take al Qaeda from the talking points,” Morell said. When asked who did, he answered, “The group of officers from our office of Congressional affairs and our office of public affairs.” Previously, government officials had vehemently denied that any public affairs officials made any edits to the talking points.

So the buck keeps being passed around.

I think Attkisson can be a real asset if she can get regular media time somewhere other than FOX who have almost lost me lately. She needs to be up against useful idiots such as the cast of the View – somewhere where liberals will see her slicing and dicing their heroes with facts.

      That’s not going to happen.

“So the buck keeps being passed around.” A circular firing squad? If they’re all complicit in the cover-up and changing the “talking points,” why aren’t they being punished for lying, deceiving, and fabricating? If they’re all guilty….?

Until the heads begin to roll this will continue.

      • Doobee

Why am I thinking that heads won’t roll and it will continue no matter what?

Like I Morell said, “it was just two little words. That’s all. Just two.”

The bottom line is that no CIA person would have been burdened by the fact that the attackers were Islamofascists, but we know who is, and it is Obongo who put those orders out. Don’t do or say anything that makes Islam look bad.
Another point is that investigation has already determnied that the video had not caused an uproar (protests and demonstrations) around the muslim world. Few if any had seen the video. Like everything else they touch, I’m afraid the CIA has been politicized. Or, as we found out several years ago, there are communist operatives in the CIA, who would naturally spin for an anti-American administration. Remember during the (anti) Bush years that there was a former CIA operative writing from his hideout/retreat in Cuba.

This is an act of Shariah Compliance!

Political correctness is the tyranny of groupthink. It was developed by the Marxist Totalitarian Left to control the freedom of thought in free societies.

Thus, unless the good CIA Deputy Director wanted to face being ostracized and censured by the Marxist Totalitarian Left, he had no other choice but to remove the word Islamic from the talking points. Muslims, in the eyes of the unhinged Marxist Totalitarian Left, are another group that has tasted the oppression of American capitalism. Hence, they must never be angered needlessly to remind them of their harsh oppression, because they will inevitably react by perpetrating more terrorist attacks against their oppressors.

Meanwhile, never mind the fact that waging jihad in the cause of Allah to ultimately make Islam supreme throughout the world is a fundamental holy obligation incumbent upon all Muslims in one form or another, i.e., either violently (a tiny minority of Muslims) or non-violently (the vast overwhelming majority of Muslims). Or that the sole fundamental purpose of Islam is the subjugation of all religions and all infidels into Islamic totalitarianism through both violent and non-violent stealth and deceptive jihad and the eventual imposition of Sharia, which is Islamic totalitarian law, to ultimately make Islam supreme throughout the world. Indeed, according to the Marxist Totalitarian Left, i.e., the group, Muslims are victims of capitalist tyranny.

Well, the former acting CIA director clarified nothing.
