I suspect the real answer is as many as they can get. After all veterans tend to vote Republicans. Like cutting Medicare, cutting Tricare and letting the VA kill vets is one way to kill off the voters least likely to vote for the Democratic Party.

Still some questions are finally being asked.

Today White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough kept defending the record of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinkseki over his handling of the Veterans Administration hospitals scandal on CNN’s The Lead. Finally an increasingly agitated Jake Tapper grew frustrated with the excuses until he exploded in anger: “How Many Dead Veterans Do You Need?”

Jake Tapper is one of the few mainstream media people who still ask hard questions about Obama Inc. Here’s part of the transcript.

TAPPER: How many stories like this, how many letters like this, how many dead veterans do you need before somebody asks the question within the White House, maybe this guy isn’t the best steward of these veterans?

MCDONOUGH: The question, Jake, is, are we doing everything we can every day to get the veterans the care and the opportunities that they deserve?

TAPPER: But you are not. This letter was sent a year ago. And you guys ignored it.

MCDONOUGH: And we have been working aggressively to ensure that not only is health care expanded, opportunities made more ready to our vets, but that people are held to account, as Ric is doing in this case. We will continue to do that.

McDonough, a Center for American Progress player, like much of the rest of Obama Inc. is completely impermeable to shame, guilty or facts… the traditional tools of reporters in hard hitting interviews. He has his talking points about how things are getting better and will repeat them again and again.

And that’s Obama Inc. in microcosm. There is just no accountability.

MCDONOUGH: You heard what Ric said to the Senate committee today, that, in this instance, there’s been more than 250 cases of people who have been held accountable for their actions. He can explain that in great detail. The president, as soon as he heard about this latest outrage in Phoenix, called Ric and said, you know what, Ric? I need to know exactly what happened. I need to know exactly the accountability measures that you have and that you can institute, and if it’s not enough, then let’s change it and make sure that we hold people to account.

TAPPER: But I’m telling you right now that happened in 2011 under Secretary Shinseki, and that person was not held accountable. The person got a perfect performance review and got a bonus. There are lots of examples like this.

But Obama Inc. doesn’t care about facts. It tells blatant lies and tells them again and uses its political allied non-profits, e.g. CAP, to echo the lies to make it seem as if their big lie is a consensus.

Meanwhile veterans keep dying.

  • nomoretraitors

If even CNN is starting to see through the lies and propaganda, then it must be bad

    • Anukem Jihadi

Just another boilerplate interview. Thanks for lying to us through your teeth says Tapper.

    • bobjonestwo

Not CNN, Jake Tapper, an honest reporter. CNN is still propaganda for the most part. And don’t anybody think any of this abysmally criminal treatment of veterans is accidental, they hate veterans and do everything they can to make things difficult for them. Oh, and bye the way they have admitted many times that returning veterans are their number one enemy. And their actions make that very apparent.

To communists and the like, a few millions are not even close.

  • Gee

I understand that the VA had $500 million to spend on OFFICE FURNITURE. Imagine in that were applied to keeping veterans alive.

Bet there wouldn’t be so many dead veterans

    • geoive

It was $ 600 million for furniture. I am a vet and my schedule for blood work and drugs has been changed from twice a year to one time. It has been moved from May to August now I just called to check. I drive 45 miles to get there from home.

      • wildeagleone

My primary care was changed from 6 months to 8 months to the last visit for Primary care was 15 MONTHS. Though I am healthy even with a quadruple, prostate cancer and a stint in my carotid, I sincerely believe there is a cut back to accommodate the bonus’s and other perks handed out for those that are employed and dont earn the money they are paid in the top echelons

    Obama’s “War Against Veterans”.

    • Roy Mallmann

It is not Obama’s war against veterans.. It is Obama’s war against America and everything that we stand for. EVERYTHING!!

    • Drakken

Just wait until veterans say enough is enough and start shooting back.

      • Douglas J. Bender

By then, they’ll need to borrow the bullets from the EPA or DMV.

“I suspect the real answer is as many as they can get. After all veterans tend to vote Republicans. Like cutting Medicare, cutting Tricare and letting the VA kill vets is one way to kill off the voters least likely to vote for the Democratic Party.”

Pretty close to my first thought upon reading the headline. I would like to know if there is a pattern of minority vets or women getting treatment when white men were denied treatment. It would be easy to identify Republican voting vets from other databases. If there is a correlation to race or political affiliation, we would then have the straw that broke the camel’s back. we might also have the beginnings of a reaction that could get ugly. The Ag Dept. is now buying submachine guns and bulletproof vests. It seems they know something we don’t.

    • Drakken

If this administration continues to throw vets under the bus, that could be a beginning of a very nasty backlash, vets are an understanding and patient lot, but when push comes to shove, anything and everything is possible.

  • john

Veterans alive are of no values to Obama and the Dems, but once they are dead, they are. They will vote for the Dems.It is this simple!

    • PatHenry

When they are DEAD they can vote Democrat without ID

  • antioli

A modified chant from the Vietnam war protestors “Ho Ho Hey Hey how many Vets did you kill today.”

  • Steeloak

    Obama lied, Veterans died!

  • Hard Little Machine

The only question anyone needs ask of anything about the Obama administration is whether whatever they messed up, cheated, lied about or outright committed a felony can point to the Oval Office. If yes then take the 5th and retire. If no then take the 5th and retire.

  • Gary

Jake Tapper is going to give CNN a bad name, rather, the Commander-in-chief and the Press Sec will give the bad name. You don’t want to actually ask any serious questions to these folks.

  • jpatton346

What do you get when an incompetent liar surrounds him self with incompetent liars? T he Obama asministration.

  • HoJo

Such a sad story. On the bigger picture … I have yet to hear any one in the media connect the dots of this story to the ultimate future of healthcare in this country . The VA is government run healthcare. If the left achieves its ultimate goal of single payer/provider healthcare than these stories will be commonplace. The secret list will, for Damn sure, include the names of any registered republican voters. Remember the “death panels”? Beurocrats will be deciding who provides value to the community and what procedure is available and cost efficient for the person and the community. The VA issue is a precursor for what will be normal for the entire country.

  • jerimiah

Ocrapa’s goal is to bring down the country in preparation for Martial law…creating racial chrisis, rich against poor, workers against drones, veterans chrisis all leads to the need for Martial law….

  • ROGER

How Many Dead VETS? As many as they can Get Away With Until the “We The People” and the Congress YOUR AND OUR CONSTITUTION AND UPHOLD YOUR OATH OF OFFICE Do Something about it.

  • Tall, Dark and Handsome

To put this in perspective going in, Obama cannot and didnt properly pronounce the term: Navy Corpsman”, but rather said, ” Navy Corpseman”, this at a Medal Ceremony at the White House two years ago. It,s on UTube………….

Concerned about our Veterans, I dont think so……………

    Teleprompter punk……………………

  • 1josephg1

Just another part of barry’s war on America. Shame on all of you pieces of —- that voted for this reprobate.

  • Bob

they are only scratching the surface. I can name names of veterans from the MPLS VA and Indianapolis VA who DIED (or rather ….. got KILLED) by the VA.
The CONGRESS people don’t want to hear it, and all they care about is getting re-elected. NOTHING is going to CHANGE.
There SHOULD BE people FIRED and people JAILED but it is NOT going to happen. They will get transferred and get a RAISE in pay and “all will be well”
    Ask the “ATOMIC veterans” !!!!!

  • The March Hare

“After all veterans tend to vote Republicans.”

Maybe they have hopes that they will vote Democrat after they are dead.
