CNN’s Brass are Just as Biased and Obnoxious as You Thought

Here’s what one young woman discovered when trying to talk to CNN bigwigs about bias.

Hayley Nagelberg, a high school senior from West Orange, NJ, has revealed that a top CNN executive asked her if she was “brain dead” following a question-and-answer session in Atlanta, where the news broadcaster is based, earlier this week.

The meeting was with Richard Davis, the Executive Vice President of News Standards and Practices for CNN

During an animated conversation about CNN’s “abysmal” coverage of last month’s terrorist atrocity at a synagogue in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem, in which four worshippers and a Druze policeman were brutally murdered, Davis was asked to explain why the broadcaster initially identified the synagogue as a “mosque.”

“To expound on how the words ‘mosque’ and ‘synagogue’ could have been swapped, Davis gave an even more infuriating response,” said Nagelberg. “Apparently, in the room where the headlines were written, there was some conversation taking place regarding a mosque in Damascus. ‘Haven’t you ever written something you heard instead of what you meant to write?’ he asked.”

I wanted to know why CNN, when releasing the headlines at issue, couldn’t call it a terrorist attack. Davis explained that they would never jump to a conclusion that anything is a terrorist attack. “Okay”, I said, fully understanding the weight that the word “terrorist” carries. “But by the time it was known that it was four Israelis and two Palestinians, it was known that there were meat cleavers and stabbings involved. Why couldn’t you call it an ‘attack’?” I continued. His response? “You’ve got to be kidding me? One word? Are you brain dead?”

To summarize, CNN’s VP of News Standards and Practices explained that his staff is too stupid to check what it’s typing into the chyron while carrying on a conversation and thinks that anyone who asks basic questions is an idiot.

CNN, yes it’s exactly as dysfunctional as you think. And there’s a reason it’s in last place.

CNN is not only biased and obnoxious we could also add: stupid, mendacious, and suicidal( judging by their ratings).

  • Hard Little Machine

In a wider sense though the problem is that CNN and its kind have turned ‘journalism’ into personal attacks. That’s what they think journalism is. Young people going into the field are taught that the only valid role of media is to propagandize and to threaten people.

    • cree

Agreed. The progressive era of news people probably have no concept of what real journalism should entail. Then likely, they would literally not know how to act in the role of what journalism used to be.

I saw a Bloomberg journalist tell an interviewer that they were going to do more than give facts, statistics, etc. They were going to give a narrative.

They were going into “narrative journalism“.
This was either on Fox News or WSJ sometime after Dec 3rd and about Dec 18th.

The #1 selling book in US Universities on History is by the late Marxist Howard Zinn who once famously said “Facts don’t matter, history doesn’t matter, all that matters is my cause.”

Didn’t hitler say the same thing?

          • Pete

I tried looking it up. Can you give me a link please?

      • SineWaveII

The funny thing is this isn’t new. Read Mark Twain he had the same complaints about the “news” media that we do. So did Will Rogers.
I think the difference is that social media and the internet allows people to find out the whole story for themselves and it brings thei “news” media’s bias into sharp relief.
One of the reasons that the bias so deep is precisely because it’s been going on for so long. That’s the reason that journalists think of themselves as normal and think that we’re the crazy ones.
Journalists aren’t rocket scientists if they were they wouldn’t be journalists.

      • nomoretraitors

They know what real journalism is but choose to reject it in favor of shaping the news instead of reporting it. They believe it is their job not to report facts but to be social engineers.

Infiltration of the media was one of the communist movement’s primary goals. For more see the DVD “The Agenda”

Most organizational rot starts at the top and moves downward, so this makes total sense.

“One word? Are you brain dead?”

Precisely why he is CNN’s revered Exec VP in charge of news standards and practices, he’s too stupid to know the difference between one word and four. Hence, with oversight like his, is it any wonder his staff cannot differentiate between a mosque and synagogue?

We may scoff at this incredulity but it would not surprise me given the inherent ignorance and revisionist learnings of the progressives hired by CNN to ‘interpret’ news that they truly do no know the difference between the two nor would they care to let it get in the way of their interpretive duties as commanded by none other than their mothership. Bots.

Your picture is not the right Richard Davis. http://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/davis.richard.html

  • lilyred

    LOL. Yes!

  • Pete

‘Haven’t you ever written something you heard instead of what you meant to write?’
Yes that does happen. In fact it happens when I post. It goes on for about words and when I proof my post doesn’t make any sense. Just the names of the killers and the victims would be a give away that this happened in a synagogue and not a mosque. It would be discordant thinking about 4 Jews being killed in a mosque. You would ask “What are they doing there?”. They must not proofread their stories.
I see angry readers of the Daily Mail pointing out various lapses of the staff from misspelling and worse. Why does CNN expect a pass?
This looks more like an excuse than anything else.

    • SineWaveII

Of course his response raises another question. The next question should have been. This isn’t the first time this has happened on your network nor is it even the second. Can you explain how you’ve let discipline slip in your newsroom to bring your organization to this level of incompetence?

  • lustmorde

He said this to a high school student. Why does he still have a job? If this had been a conservative, or someone at Fox, CNN and everyone else would be calling for his head over how he treated a ‘child’ who asked an innocent question.

    • Bamaguje

Fox would have been accused of child abuse.
Then the leftist lamestream would drone on about Republican “war against children.”

  • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

No Conservative should ever watch CNN. Let’s boycott the network (MSNBC too, of course) until they’re gone the way of Algore’s “Air America”.

It is not bias but bigotry. These people really are bigots and that should be continually stated and forcefully so.

  • SoCalMike

When this guys asks “ARE YOU BRAIN DEAD?” he actually doing what Freud called “projection.”
The proper question he should have asked is “Am I brain dead?” and the correct answer is an obvious yes.

  • steves5687

Hoax & Chains which CNN is an active part of is the reason almost no one is watching!
