Compassionate Conservatives and Cruel Leftists

compassion

The blogger this comes from may or may not be dubious, your mileage may vary, but I found the conclusion from a former OWSer interesting.

But the thing I ended up discovering, once I got involved in far-left activist culture, is that these people who profess these pure and holy views that consistently stand against oppression—are actually quite oppressive! Leftists are downright awful human beings. I learned that their ideology is how they bring balance into their lives. In order to suppress their innate desire for cruelty, they adopt an outer shell of a psyche which is opposite. For you see, if moonbats didn’t have their fluffy feel-good anti-oppression ideology, they’d probably go on a murder rampage the next day.

You see the opposite with conservatives. They tend to be innately generous, kind, giving people. So much so, that it makes them vulnerable to being abused or taken advantage of by unscrupulous liberals. So how do conservatives cope with this? They adopt a cold, hard, authoritarian ideology in order to balance out their propensity for love and kindness. It’s basically psychic self-defense.

Think back in your life to the people you’ve met. Think about how many liberals you’ve met, who professed holy views, but turned out to be dirty rotten louses without a job who turned their backs on their family. Now think about how many conservatives you’ve met, who professed beliefs you felt were appallingly cruel, yet in real life they turned out to be a gentle family-oriented people who work a productive job and are leaders in their communities.

Am I right?

From another angle, idealists are more likely to have a cruel streak to them because they put ideas over people and political ideas are often just ego misspelled. Pragmatists are less likely to profess big picture compassionate ideas, but more likely to actually help someone in need.

A lot of the left is obsessively egotistical. Its fluffy ideas aren’t selfless, they’re selfish projections of egomaniacs convinced of their own righteousness. Being egomaniacs, they have zero interest in actually helping people. Their thoughts on compassionate activism are about themselves, not about other people.

Compassion is useful when it’s pragmatic. Idealistic compassion that is global, rather than interpersonal, is the symptom of a manipulative personality.

Pragmatic people can seem cruel because they have little faith in organizational compassion. They distrust systems. Instead they help people.

Instead we have bureaucratic collectivist compassion which is actually horrifyingly cruel, as we can see through the NHS and the VA.

The idea that compassion can be embedded in systems is something that the pragmatist knows to be false. But the idealist believes in absolute control and in systems that reflect his control freak tendencies.

” political ideas are often just ego misspelled”

That is a killer phrase. Just imagine using it in a campaign.

I’ve got a phrase, ‘The Democratic party, the only party they can get into.’ I worked out in 1965 that they were not getting on those buses to Washington for the sake of the cause.

  • Larry Larkin

For the bleeding heart leftards it’s all about the appearance of being compassionate. If they tell people that’s what they are they get to feel warm and fluffy inside, but they rarely ever do anything about it.
Leftard politicians are the classic example of it, all bang and flash, but no bullet.

Or as the Bard put it, “[S]ound and fury, signifying nothing.”

Is there no end to Daniel’s amazing psychological insights? Yes, yes, yes, you are right. The hardcore conservatives I know have hearts of mush. It’s why the bible says “the fear of god is to hate evil.” Good godly hearts have this outer lay of hatred of evil. The love of god comes first. The hatred of evil second. Maybe that’s why his observation proves true. I agree with Daniels observation that the liberals are hard inside. I’m not so sure why though. He says it’s a psychological counterbalance. I think that maybe true. I also think socialism is as seductive to an evil mind as being a pornographer is to a sexual predator: in other words, it attracts evil people. Always remember that evil needs no motive: it exists as an end to itself. I understand the people have complex motives that drive their evil. I’m just saying that people love evil simply because it’s evil. Mohammed killed to establish islam, and for the simple bloodlust of murder. there’s another possible explanation. Socialism or communism is a kind of a sin, it’s not just an ideology. I have prayed about this for a long time, and god has taught me this. As such, this sin has an INDEPENDENT corrupting influence on its practitioner. Sin can’t be contained. Daniel will understand this from the Old Testament feast of unleavened bread where the jews would remove leaven (a kind of sin) from their houses. The point of leaven was that its small, but it gets into anything. Just like the levitical laws against mould: once the mould got into something beyond a threshold point, the priests had to remove the actual building, not just the rotten wood. Am i right? I seek intelligent opposition or intelligent agreement. I am here to learn.

‘The love of God comes first.’

      Yes!

It’s amazing. Daniel sees all. He notices things. Our comments just riff off his observations. We all sound intelligent. But only because we have something to riff off.

The terms “left” and “right” as political terms go back to the French Revolution. The Chamber of Deputies had seats in semi-circular fashion. The ones on the far left were the Jacobins, led by Maximillian Robespierre and the ones on the far right were the supporters of the monarchy and the Roman Catholic Church as the state church.
Revolution became fashionable in the nineteenth century, and Karl Marx supported it and the Jacobin tradition. Robespierre instituted the Reign of Terror and he was overthrown during the month of July executed on July 28, renamed by the revolutionaries as “Thermidor.” Vladimir Lenin established the Soviet Union as a permanent Reign of Terror, wanting to prevent another “Thermidor.”
The so-called Left has an old history of intolerance. Edmund Burke, in his Reflections on the French Revolution, originated what is now called “conservatism,” which is old-fashioned liberalism, see John Stuart Mill, not what is now euphemistically called “liberalism,” but is socialism, anti-liberty.

Our blogger friend was correct about the Left as far as he went. What he doesn’t yet understand is that the Leftist’s professed concern for humanity is to disguise his true motivation – the desire for power – from himself. As a matter of fact, he hates men as individuals and only thinks he loves them as a collective. He thus basks in a virtue he does not truly possess. The Leftist is not a mentally healthy individual.

‘Pragmatic people can seem cruel because they have little faith in organizational compassion. They distrust systems. Instead they help people.’

All the most deeply religious people ever have been extremely practical people. It doesn’t matter whether you are in Nirvana, the third heaven, samahdi, you have got to gladly drop what you are doing for someone who has a genuine need.

When social workers start putting up shelves, maybe I’ll make some time for them.

Maybe some Leftists are simply immature about reality. They fear evil, hence seek utopian pacifism, etc. As against the reality which most Conservatives see–being more attuned to seeing danger, threats, problems. [Jost et. al. 2003]. And yes, good Conservatives care for reciprocity, protective values, etc. HOWEVER, hmmmm, I am tired of SOME conservatives’ snotty elitist dismissive care-less stances. Un-Generous, and I don’t mean we should spread wealth around…..
