Hamas Manual Emphasizes Use of Civilians as Human Shields

There’s a reason that Hamas operates in densely populated civilian areas and it’s not because, as Hillary Clinton suggested, that Gaza is “really small”. It’s because like the Taliban, Hamas views civilians as useful means of obstructing enemy operations.

IDF forces in the Gaza Strip found a Hamas manual on “Urban Warfare,” which belonged to the Shuja’iya Brigade of Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. The manual explains how the civilian population can be used against IDF forces and reveals that Hamas knows the IDF is committed to minimizing harm to civilians.

In a portion entitled “Limiting the Use of Weapons,” the manual explains that:

The soldiers and commanders (of the IDF) must limit their use of weapons and tactics that lead to the harm and unnecessary loss of people and [destruction of] civilian facilities. It is difficult for them to get the most use out of their firearms, especially of supporting fire [e.g. artillery].

The manual goes on to explain that the “presence of civilians are pockets of resistance” that cause three major problems for advancing troops:

(1) Problems with opening fire
(2) Problems in controlling the civilian population during operations and afterward
(3) Assurance of supplying medical care to civilians who need it

The manual openly admits that Hamas operates in civilian areas because it creates a disadvantage for Israel and makes it difficult for the IDF to bring heavy weaponry to bear against its fighters.

These are common tactics for Islamic groups in the field.

Col. Richard Kemp, who commanded British ground troops in Afghanistan, refutes the claim that Israel has committed war crimes.

“The British forces fought against the Taliban for many years in Afghanistan,” Kemp said. “They use human shields. They attempt to lure us to kill their civilian population. It’s a common theme among Islamist extremist groups in this world.”

Using civilian human shields negates some of the advantages of a modern army. Without artillery or air support and with soldiers who have had it drilled into them that if they open fire and kill civilians, they will destroy support for the mission, terrorists have an advantage.

All this incentivizes human shields. That’s where the dead babies are coming from.

I have watched Hez in Lebanon casually taking out the trash and hanging out their laundry while keeping kids close around them at all times. It’s their SOP.

It is and has been patently obvious that this is what they do, yet the media still wish to portray these scumbags as being underdogs, and worthy of sympathy. The IDF needs to get this into the hands of any and all media groups asap, then maybe the world will come to their collective senses and begin to understand who and what Hamas really is. This is manual is similar to the playbook of al Qaeda on how to play the media, when captured and incarcerated, to claim brutality, torture and mistreatment at the hands of US and coalition forces, to garner sympathy from a brain dead media.
