In Snowy New York, New York Times Predicts the End of Snow

I suspect the New York Times is on the way out. The snow however is still coming down. But let this man tell you the dreaded future that is to come.
Daniel Scott, a professor of global change and tourism at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, to analyze potential venues for future Winter Games. His thought was that with a rise in the average global temperature of more than 7 degrees Fahrenheit possible by 2100, there might not be that many snowy regions left in which to hold the Games.
And if the temperature drops by 7 degrees Fahrenheit, we’ll all have to buy a lot more sweaters. Considering the track record of Warmist predictions, I would stock up on sweaters instead of beach umbrellas.
At every range I traveled to, I noticed a brotherhood among mountain folk: Say you’re headed into the hills, and the doors open. So it has been a surprise to see the winter sports community, as one of the first populations to witness effects of climate change in its own backyard, not reacting more vigorously and swiftly to reverse the fate we are writing for ourselves.
Probably because “mountain folk” have more sense than the New York Times.
It’s easy to blame the big oil companies and the billions of dollars they spend on influencing the media and popular opinion.
Oh yes, it’s the media constantly telling people not to worry about Global Warming. Why I can’t walk into a store without seeing piles of products boasting that they are not environmentally safe. And the government has in no way invested billions into Green crony corporations and Hollywood isn’t constantly churning out movies about Global Warming.
The truth is, it is too late for all of that. Greening the ski industry is commendable, but it isn’t nearly enough. Nothing besides a national policy shift on how we create and consume energy will keep our mountains white in the winter — and slow global warming to a safe level.
Nothing besides forcing senior citizens to freeze to death by the cold that doesn’t exist so corporations can cash in on Green Energy and carbon credits, just like in the UK, will save skiing. Save skiing, kill the elderly.
Now that the crazy man has stopped talking, let’s look at the actual science.
Since 2000, claims have been made by warmists that snow would become a rare commodity. Not only would this disappoint children but would endanger the ski industry (and in New England Maple Sugar industry as the maple trees would pack their bag and move north to Canada). This claim was made to ski areas and the maple sugar industry at a summit on top of Mt. Washington by the Union of Concerned Scientists (an environmental advocacy group – not real scientists) in the summer of 2007.
That winter that followed, record snows fell from Alaska to Colorado and northeast to northern and central New England. Michael Berry, President of the National Ski Area Association said it was likely the best season ever.
4 of the top 5 snowiest winters for the northern hemisphere have occurred in the last 6 years.
The snowcover for the first week of February is 6th greatest for North America and 9th greatest for the Northern Hemisphere (out of the 48 years the NYT article claims).
But… but the snow is also caused by Global Warming so we’re really entering an ice age in which we’ll have to ski everywhere.
