Let's not leave out the traditional remedy for treason, or some more creative punishments like keelhauling.

First, Congress needs to stop funding of the IRS. Then do the same with the EPA, HUD, ED, HHS, DOL, DOT, and DHS. This would clear up some problems and be a decent start to reducing government spending.

When Richard Millhouse Nixon asked his hand picked head of the IRS to audit his political enemies, his hand picked man refused.
-
Back during Richard's Presidency this was both legal, and the lay of the land since as far back as President Taft.
-
However this common practice was so troubling to the hifalutin moral liberals and their democrat party, that this procedure was made illegal in 1976. BHO and Holder are attorneys, presumably bonafide attorneys. They should know this is illegal.
-
Just before the re-election of BHO in late Oct., early Nov. 2012, a man named Wayne Root, who actually went to collage with Barac, told his horrific tale of IRS woes from the Obama POTUS era on his own blog.
-
Not all that long ago BHO went on TV and stated the IRS was not targeting republicans, and this, as his new IRS head was apologizing for such. A bald face lie by BHO, and not a peep.
-
Richard only asked when it was legal, and the uproar continued for years.
-
Unbelievable!
-
Liberalism is the iceberg targeting the Titanic.

This is a testimony to the fear the Left has of true grass roots political movements. Their agenda was seriously disrupted by the Tea Party success in 2010, and if we would have had a better Speaker of the House, the damage would have been far greater. We can all thank Sarah Palin for fearlessly nurturing the Tea Party while the Republican leadership tepidly tried to read the tea leaves. Without Palin's energetic support, 2010 would have been yet another dismal performance by the Republicans, who still think robo-calls are cutting edge.

Soros and Obama have turned every government agency into a punitive, threatening para-military revolutionary force. They are all bent on suppressing resistance to the coup, with the IRS being especially useful with their access to everyone's financial information.

The Left, in it's usual dishonesty and hypocrisy, says it wants to get money out of politics, but what it really wants is to get conservative money out of politics, hence the IRS persecution.

Who would be against it?

The entire federal bureaucracy is rotten to the core, and most of gubmint employees are hard to dump. It will take pols with spines of steel and a deeply involved public sector to flush these turds.

Republicans should make the IRS a huge campaign issue, promising major reforms by chaining the agency and stripping much of its power. Of course, that means simplifying the tax code, but that's long overdue anyway. And assuming Republicans can win in 2016, all those involved in harassing Conservatives must be hit with with the maximum possible penalties, from being fired to being imprisoned.
