Israel Breaks Up Al Qaeda Plot to Bomb US Embassy

While Obama and Kerry were pressuring Israel to free terrorists to keep the terrorists of the Palestinian Authority at the negotiations, Israel was breaking up a terrorist plot targeting the US embassy in Tel Aviv.

Israel’s Shin Bet security agency revealed on Wednesday that it had arrested a terrorist unit that planned to blow up the Jerusalem convention center and the US embassy in Tel Aviv.

According to the Shin Bet’s statement, the three terrorists who were arrested belong to a Gaza based terror group that is linked to al-Qaida and the attacks themselves were planned by the global terror group’s leader Ayman al-Zawahri.

The statement said that al-Qaida planned to recruit five suicide bombers who would have arrived to Israel posing as tourists, using fake Russian passports. The men were meant to be equipped with suicide vests and a bomb-rigged truck and carry out the two-pronged attack at the same time.

The unit had also planned to carry out a shooting attack against a Jerusalem area bus and kidnap Israeli soldiers.

According to the statement, the unit’s leader Iyad Abu Sara from East Jerusalem, was set to depart for Syria, via Turkey to learn bomb-making skills. The other two unit members arrested hailed from the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin.

“We didn’t have the luxury of waiting for the network to go from the planning stage to producing an explosives-rigged truck, so we decided to arrest them a month ago,” a senior Shin Bet official said. “The terrorists were full of hate towards Israel and Jews.”

“The Gaza Strip has become a terror base for al-Qaida, while in the West Bank the group’s activities are still in early phases and can be stopped,” said the official.

The Shin Bet said it notified its American and Russian counterparts of the details.

The troubling thing here is the development of the Turkey-Syria terror nexus and the Russian factor, which may be linked to the upcoming Olympics. It’s not clear whom the truck bomb was meant for, but such an attack could have been potentially devastating.

I am skeptical that a truck bomb attack on this scale could be pulled off in Tel Aviv targeting a secure facility like the US embassy. But nothing can be ruled out.

The quick hit reply by the left will be that Israel made this up or that these men were entrapped.

I was thinking the Israelis should not break up the plot. I bet the intended victims are conflicted. On one hand they are happy because it save their life. On the other hand they are chagrined because the U.S. did not get a comeuppance.

If this plot was to take place outside of Israel like in Turkey, people should think long and hard about breaking it up.

There were obvious reasons for breaking up a truck bomb plot that would have struck in the streets of Tel Aviv and killed plenty of ordinary men and women on the way to work, embassy employees and Marines.

None of this affects people like Kerry who never have to come to terms with the carnage they cause, just as Hillary walked away whistling from Benghazi.

Except for the ordinary people I could very well see turning a blind eye.

Plus if this had actually place, Kerry and company would have been in high dudgeon. They do not give a shat if a Palestinians blows up a pizza parlor full of youth (which has happened), they dismiss the building of the wall which has kept Israelis safer from suicide attacks, but if their precious person were hurt they would criticize Israel like they failed to do Libya.

Many people at Foggy Bottom are the problem. They are insulated from the evil they cause and lead charmed, protected lives.

          They would have blamed Bush,,,

Yeah, after all, what muslime cares if a few Jews are killed as long as the US embassy is damaged?

    • Drakken

If it wasn’t for my fellow Marines guarding that building, I would agree with you. Being a witness to various truckbombs I have to say, save the lives and let politics be damned.

What’s the common factor that unites the “Turkey-Syria terror nexus”?
    Islam. Got it in one.

Part of me is sad that the explosion did not take place. I wish that the US drop Israel yesterday. Israel sign deal after deal with Russia, China and India. Then I want all US companies in Israel be nationalized, all US military be jailed and held in returned for Pollard. All Arab Muslims be deported and the future oil and gas from newly discovered areas be shipped ONLY in receipt for gold, silver or platinum or mica. No fiats, no bonds. Save that junk for Walmart.

I am sick of the Jew hate found on so many American web sites. One example of frequent Judenhass is run by a coward named Chris Duane. You tube is full of Jew hate from American posters. Best thing for Israel. No doubt Russia and China will be interested to make lots of deals.

I think this site has 2 objectives. First and foremost is to to tell the truth about the left. The second is to fight antisemitism. Many of the readers here are Jewish, but a heck of a lot of them, are not.

I would say PJMedia’s purpose is to be a fair and objective website. They also try to tell the truth about the Left’s distortions. I believe they also fight antisemitism, but not so much because it is a mission, but simply because they tell the truth.

You also have Michael Medved and Mark Levin on the radio. That has to count for something.

      “Don’t give up the ship.”

What a lot of people who are anti-Israel don’t realize, or refuse to accept, is that many terror plots that were successfully disrupted were stopped with information from Israeli intelligence. US intelligence has relied on Israel for decades because of its superior intelligence network in the Middle East. That is just one of the many reasons the Muslims want Israel destroyed –the main reason being that Islam is a deranged cult of death.

If people like Kerry had to live in an area with IEDs hidden along the roads and suicide bombers strolling through their favorite food supermarket, they might actually oppose Muslim terrorism, but only in the immediate area they call home. They couldn’t care less about victims elsewhere.

“If people like Kerry had to live in an area with IEDs …, they might actually oppose Muslim terrorism, but only in the immediate area they call home. They couldn’t care less about victims elsewhere.”

If they don’t care about us, why care about them?

We should disentangle ourselves from them so they have to stand on their own 2 feet and without anyone to shield them.

I would not ask a soldier to not do their duty, but they treat us with such contempt, “See something, say something” might mean nothing if I saw something in a ritzy area.

It appears you missed my point.

          I may have.

The only place people may have missed my point is.

“See something, say something” might mean nothing if I saw something in a ritzy area.”

I would not propose this for just any ritzy area. Just those where foaming out the mouth leftists tell us Islam is not a problem, are anti-military and tell us the U.S. is the problem on everything.
