Jimmy Carter Warns Against Sanctions on Iran

Jimmy-Carter-Khomeini

Jimmy Carter, whose Iran track record is right up there with the USSR’s track record in human rights, has popped up to praise Obama and Kerry for following in his footsteps and to warn against sanctions on Iran.

“If the sanctions are imposed before the peace agreement is consummated between the U.S. and the other countries, that would be a devastating blow,” Carter said.

Carter praised Obama, saying he “has done the right thing with John Kerry in negotiating this agreement.”

“I’ve always advocated that the U.S. and Iran have diplomatic relations and exchange ideas,” Carter said.

“I hope [the peace agreement] will stay intact, I believe its the best approach to resolve a threat of nuclear capability that is weaponry in Iran.”

The one thing we can be certain of when it comes to Iran and Jimmy Carter is that if he suggests a course of action, the best course of action is to do the opposite of whatever he says.

  • Chris Gait

Jimmy Carter is living proof of the concept of de-evolution. A common ancestor gave rise to the evolutionary lines that produced humanity on one branch and the great apes on the other. The Carter family boldly crossed back and over, ending up looking and acting like chimps. If Jimmy Carter, long time shill of the Moslem extremists (who pay his foundation tens of millions a year) says something is right…you know it’s wrong. I wouldn’t believe him if he said the Sun rises in the East.

    • Joe

When people spout their mouths off, I like to read their biographies to see what shaped them.

“Carter struggled when he first entered college in 1965, bouncing around between Georgia Tech, Emory, and Georgia Southwestern State University before enlisting in the United States Navy in April 1968″

James Carter is not the worst parent, but you would expect something more from a farmer, business man and officer (ring knocker). You can be the best parent and have bad kids, but oft times it is a reflection of the parent. I for one am not impressed with James Carter’s children and grandchildren given the advantages they had. I think it is a reflection of the elder Mr. Carter.

      • defcon 4

His knuckling under to islam0nazism is what disgusts me about him in the here and now — as well as when he was in the W.H. He’s also had business dealings w/islam0nazis that have made him a pretty penny in the past.

      • Chris Gait

Another biographical note on Carter. Admiral Hymen Rickover would not entrust him with a sub. Later, as president Carter forced him to retire. He is not a man of honor. The houses for the poor he built with such fanfare turned out to be of inferior materials and built on toxic parcels developers would not use due to health risk for residents.

  • Anukem Jihadi

Given that Carter has apparently learned nothing from experience I sometimes wonder if it could really be true that he was a president who believed too much and knew too little.
I have to sometimes wonder if the experience he got wasn’t what he really sought after to begin with.

    • Ceorl

James Carter maybe a competent nuclear engineer, naval officer & farmer.

There are so many areas in which a person has to be competent and just because they are competent in one or a few does not mean they are competent in others. It may not translate. I don’t believe that Mr Carter was a competent President and his 20/20 hindsight is not any better.

“The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude”

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

      • Gee

He was not a competent nuclear engineer – he got his degree but never did a single day’s work as an engineer of any sort. He also was a lousy officer and resigned his commission the first day he could

        • Ceorl

I used the term “maybe”. I was not asserting that he was a competent engineer or a competent officer.

For purposes of argument I conceded that and made the point just because a person is competent in one area they are not necessarily competent in another.

      • Anukem Jihadi

It’s a pity he didn’t love peanut farming the way he loved the halls of influence.
        From this piece -
Carter believes in the “exchange of ideas”.
What ideas did Carter exchange with the Ayatollah?
Carter is a man that either doesn’t understand that words have limits or he is a man with no regard for those limits.

      • zorba

        to Ceori
He may be a competent nuclear engineer, naval officer and farmer??? Do you have any information to that effect? Reviewing his past I see nothing to substantiate any of this.

    • NAHALKIDES

Jimmy learned nothing from experience because he was a Leftist, and that’s part of the job description. A Leftist capable of learning would soon be forced to abandon Leftism, which Carter never did.

  • truebearing

Apparently Carter is intent on showing all of us that he hasn’t learned from his mistakes. Maybe he’s secretly hoping for enough Obama disasters to escape his “worst president in history” title.

““If the sanctions are imposed before the peace agreement is consummated between the U.S. and the other countries…”

I don’t like the use of the word “consumated,” especially in the context of the US foreign policy of Obama or Carter. It invariably means that Uncle Sam is bending over.

  • Gee

The Peanut was against all sanctions when they invaded and occupied the United States embassy.

He is as stupid and racist as the current president

    • Notalibfool

The occupation of the US embassy was a clear act of war committed the United States. Carter was an idiot for not protecting the US’s interests.

      • defcon 4

He tried. He authorized a military operation to rescue the hostages from the US embassy. Unfortunately, the helos were caught in a dust storm while flying low and it damaged their engines.

        • CowboyUp

He then micromanaged said operation turning it into the disaster it was.

          • Notalibfool

Yep. His poor management skills cost several of our servicemen their lives.

  • turk182

    apparently,Jimmy Carter cannot read.
Because the sanctions -would not be imposed- PROVIDED Iran met it’s obligations according to the agreement,in the 6 month timeframe allowed.
Rational people recognize that Iran will find or create excuses why they cannot meet the obligations in 6 months as they promised, and of course,it’s just a planned move, the whole agreement was just a delaying game for them. Comrade Obama and Traitor Kerry know this, but all they wanted was that piece of paper, not actual results. muslim Manchurian Candidate Comrade Obama WANTS Iran to complete it’s nuclear weapons, and Traitor Kerry only sees a Nobel with his name on it,his first real “achievement” since helping Vietnam win.

    • objectivefactsmatter

Carter knows it too. He sees Muslims as victims. Period.

      • Moa

And Carter is a racist anti-Semite who hates Israel for existing.

  • worldwatchman

Carter is a walking, talking coma. He has smoked too many of his peanut hulls. I put more faith in my dog versus anything he says.

    • Notalibfool

      I couldn’t agree more!

  • objectivefactsmatter

““I’ve always advocated that the U.S. and Iran have diplomatic relations and exchange ideas,” Carter said.”

Carter’s idea was how about releasing the hostages. Iran’s idea was how about we keep laughing at you and plotting terror campaigns through proxy groups?

The exchange of ideas today is not all that different with another idiotic leftist sitting in the Oval Office. It’s just a lot more dangerous to tolerate leftists these days.

  • Texas Patriot

On this one, I’m going to differ with you, Daniel. I for one don’t think there is any chance that Iran is going to abide by any agreement with the United States. Instead, I think it is fairly obvious that they will go forward with all deliberate haste to develop nuclear weapons and delivery systems as soon as possible regardless of any agreement or any sanctions.

How much time will it take before that becomes obvious? Six months at the most. During that time, there is every likelihood that Chuck Hagel & Co. will be able to develop the tactical nuclear bunker-busting technology that will be required in order to destroy Iran’s deeply buried nuclear weapons facilities. So why not make a gesture of good faith, even if we know that the Iranians have no intention of responding in kind? When the time comes to attack and surgically eliminate Iran’s nuclear weapons systems, we will need the support of the Russians and the Chinese as well as the rest of the world, and the best way to assure that is to demonstrate unconditional good faith beforehand.

Make no mistake about it, the day will come when we will have no alternative but to take preemptive action to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and how successful we are in advance of creating the right public perception and understanding of our intentions will go a long way in shaping the political aftermath in our favor.

    • defcon 4

I’d think the current US regime would be much more likely to attack Israel than Iran.

      • Texas Patriot

Let’s hope the Iranians think that.

  • Michael Cassidy

It’s time the Israeli government, the Jewish right wing lobby and the loathsome prostitutes in Congress stopped goading this country into another war for Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. The USA is broke. Millions are out of work. Even more are on food stamps. Americans want our government to take care of the problems inside this country, The Israelis need to try diplomacy for once instead of settling every fight they start with a bullet or a bomb.

    • defcon 4

Delusional. Who attacked whom in ’48′, ’67′ and ’73′? Who was and is firing rockets, artillery rounds and mortars into Israel (without provocation or cause). Who ethnically cleansed the Jews of Syria, Iraq, Egypt and the rest of N. Africa? You’re warped.

      • Michael Cassidy

The question should be, Why have Jews been kicked out of almost every country on Earth?

        • Moa

because of racist anti-Semites like you.

In the particular case of the Muslim countries it is because hadith Sahih Muslim 6985 (and many others like it, command genocide against Jews – which I’m sure gives a wannabe-nazi like you just a peachy glow, right?).

All throughout history the Jews have been attacked because:
          1) they worked hard and made money (not subject to the ursury laws of the Christian Church), and there is nothing like envy of the successful by the indolent (in the modern day, Democrats are particularly bad for this)

          2) they did not follow the will of dictators and corrupt nobility (eg. the troubles with Greek and Roman empires that required deification of leaders)

          3) outright racism and hatred of “the other” (I believe you are suffering from this), which results in confirmation bias attacking the Jews

          4) the Jews generally did not fight back – they are an easy target for any kind of rabble-rouser and coward (eg. you again)

          5) Islam – where the Jews recognized very early on the nature of Mohammed, who is probably the most evil person ever to have existed (although Robert Spencer makes an excellent case that Mohammed is a fictional character, given the complete lack of contemporary evidence despite the good records of the Eastern Roman Empire).

So stop being an ignorant racist Mr Cassidy. You have shamed yourself greatly here.

This is the same Jimmy Carter who sanctioned the Shah and forced him out of power in Iran back in 1979. That move led the mullah’s fanatics to storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran and to take 52 embassy workers hostage for 444 days. The occupation of the embassy was (and remains) a clear act of war. Carter clearly has double standards, as they are his main ways of thinking about politics in general.

President Carter forced the Shah out of power because the Shah would not grant Carter’s brother Billy a business arrangement which was in violation of Iranian law.
