People have no idea how money is made, it seems. It is generated by personal production, whether in a large company or individuality, by giving value in the form of service or products.

Even Rush L did not stop a caller who was peddling, or that is, freaking out, because of that old tired scenario that there is a limited amount of wealth and that if someone gets a bigger piece of pie he is shorting another person. So sad.

We are created to prosper and we can get and create wealth and at the same time benefit our fellow man (as we Americans have done so well and why we have been so prosperous and free -- so far).

Sad to see.

Consider California’s net domestic migration (migration between states). From 2000 through 2009, California lost a NET 1.5 million people. But more people still leave each year -- in 2011 and again in 2012, we lost about 100,000 net people to domestic out-migration. Again, note that this is NET migration loss.

In CA, "we" hate rich people. And we also think that they are incredibly stooopid -- oblivious to massive tax increases on the rich. Consider our latest attack on top producers:

Prior to Prop 30 passing in Nov. 2012, CA already had the 3rd worst state
income tax rate in the nation. Our 9.3% tax bracket started at $48,942 for
people filing as individuals. 10.3% started at $1 million.

Now our retroactive (to 1/1/2012) “millionaires’ tax” rate is 13.3% – including capital gains (CA total CG rate now the 2nd highest in the world!). 10+%
taxes now start at $250K.

CA now has by far the nation’s highest state income tax rate. We are 21% higher than 2nd place Hawaii, 34% higher than Oregon, 47.8% higher than the next 2 states, and a heck of a lot higher than all the rest – including 7 states with zero state income tax.

CA is so bad, we also have the nation's 2nd highest state income tax bracket. AND the 3rd. Plus the 5th and 7th.

A chilling clarification: In 2012, California didn't just lose 5.2% of its businesses. It lost 5.2% of its businesses -- NET!!!! In other words, in the hilariously misnamed "Golden State," at the end of the year -- even with all the new businesses formed -- CA had 5.2% less businesses than at the start of the year.

Indeed, in 2012, CA lost businesses at a 67.7% higher rate than the 2nd worst state!

I agree with you almost fully on that point. I would disagree by calling anyone the "common man." We should emphasize that everyone is a unique individual with aspirations and rights, and that neither can be protected or realized if anyone else's are shot down or attacked. All genuine achievement, great or small, should be recognized and applauded, as all of it contributes to a strong country and individual happiness. The real fight is between productive and self-reliant people across the economic spectrum on the one hand, and various forms of parasites on the other. The latter include plenty of rich people and the former, plenty of poorer ones.

I agree with you almost fully on that point. I would disagree by calling anyone the “common man.” We should emphasize that everyone is a unique individual with aspirations and rights, and that neither can be protected or realized if anyone else’s are shot down or attacked.

That is true. And not everyone gets earned income credits.

Are you stupid, or just ignorant? Is it a reading problem or comprehension problem? I can't tell which. The ignorance that comes from your comments makes one wonder.

The comment was "Republicans say that anyone who makes less than $30,00 a year pay no income tax."

That is false and that is not what Romney said.

By your own quote in your own comment he said:

47% of Americans are "dependents." Direct quote: "These are people who pay no income tax."

That applies to people who are "dependents" not people who make less then $30,000 dollars a year.
Lots of people make less then $30,000 a year who are not dependents.

If you are too ignorant to read and comprehend your own quotes, don't argue with me.

For your information, if you bother to do as much time researching as you do running your mouth, you would know that the per capita income in 40 states is less then $30,000. And nine of the other ten who are more, are still in the 30's.

I guess you are saying Republicans think everyone in 49 states pay no income taxes.

If you can't understand logic, statistics, and what people say, I suggest you be quiet, sit in the corner, and listen. You might learn something.

That's preaching to the choir, though. Private property IS fundamental to human dignity, and class warfare is a bankrupt notion, but it is still never a good idea to appear like you are 'defending billionaires' when the other guy appears to be 'championing the common man.' There's a lot more of the latter.

Exactly. And we will learn that sooner or later.

I didn't think Herman Cain was a serious candidate, and I don't think his 9-9-9 was a "perfect" solution. But I thought it was a very well-expressed idea about tax reform; that is, he found a way to package a very vital idea.
