Joe Klein is pond scum and that’s unfair to pond scum, so it really says something when even he is disgusted by the mess that CNN has become.

Time magazine columnist Joe Klein called CNN “an embarrassment to our profession,” surprising a New York City audience on Sunday by declaring Fox News “the only option” for straight news at 6 p.m.

“It is such an embarrassment to our profession that CNN has gone in the toilet the way it has,” he continued. “You know, I miss being able to turn on a straight newscast. And it turns out, the only place you can go to get one, at 6 o’clock at night, is Fox.”

“The other option is to go to MSBNC and see the Reverend Al Sharpton, who I still consider to be a major criminal,” Klein quipped, prompting audience applause. “I mean, the guy can have a job on network TV, on an NBC cable network, and he still hasn’t apologized for Tawana Brawley? Gimme a break.”

CNN is going down the infotainment tubes. It will no doubt improve their ratings while destroying them as a news network. MSNBC is Air America without the future. The only hope for it is that a Republican becomes president or it’s doomed. But its journalism is doomed anyway. It’s not a news network. Like Salon or Slate, it specializes in the racial outrage of the week. So does much of the rest of the media.

FOX News stands out by doing something as conservative as actually reporting the news, instead of screaming about racism or dedicating every second to the overhyped story of the week.

    No SH*T???????????????????????????????

The news reports that tick me off the most are the ones the Obama Administration put out there that are misleading or false and the News Networks still quote them as fact. Ones like Obama has deported more illegal aliens than any other President when he was hardly deporting anyone at all, they were counting Border turn-rounds as deportation. Don’t forget when NBC doctored the Zimmerman 911 call to make him sound racist. I don’t know which is worse the lies and deception of Obama and his Administration or the liberal bias of mainstream media.

The MSM and Obama’s administration are equally bad. The former is just an extension of the press department of the latter.

    CNN and MSNBC broadcast news?

    Since when?

  • darnellecheri

Something like a brief smell of the fresh air of truth. I remember being overseas and watching CNN International in my hotel room. I felt like I was watching North Korean news without the graphics. No wonder anti-Americanism is prevalent. This week I was in a hotel room and had to watch CNN for news and was incensed – again – that not one minute of news was devoted to the Benghazi email scandals nor even live airtime was given to the Carney lie fest at the White House press hearing. It is beyond glaring that these news channels aren’t even news. It is sickening.

    • darnellecheri

Those CNN International broadcasts were during President Bush’s terms, of course.

      • truebearing

And well they should have been. Bush caused the Inquisitions, don’t you know.

        • darnellecheri

I also remember CNN broadcasts overseas during President Reagan’s terms. If you think the hatred for Bush was bad, it was just as vile during the Reagan years. Through CNNs encouraging news, Europeans thought Reagan was going to launch WWIII, as well as being an intellectual idiot. (That was “Western” Euros.) To the oppressed Eastern Europeans, Reagan was a beacon of hope. (They couldn’t watch Western news broadcasts.)

          • truebearing

I remember. They attacked Reagan relentlessly.

The media qualifies as agents of treason. The sooner they hang, the better.

            Hello, NSA. Up yours.

Saying Fox is better at covering the news than CNN or MSNBC is kind of damning it with faint praise especially coming from an egg sucking scumbag like Joe Klein.

“FOX News stands out by doing something as conservative as actually reporting the news, instead of screaming about racism or dedicating every second to the overhyped story of the week.”

Hence Obama’s hatred for Fox. Obama doesn’t want any news reported because news will expose the consequences of his revolutionary policies, and inevitably, failures. Coups are best kept hidden, and CNN, MSNBC, et al have done a marvelous job of seeing no evil and reporting no evil.

As Obama gets exposed, he will accelerate his agenda to do as much damage as possible.

The legend of Ron Burgundy lives on!!

It’s funny how we were saying this about CNN and the rest of the alphabet TV media years ago, but Klein is just now discovering that CNN is an “embarrassment” to the news broadcasting profession.
