Major Union Launches Campaign Against ObamaCare

UNITE HERE isn’t pushing repeal just yet, but its assault attempts to broaden the campaign beyond narrow union interests by accusing ObamaCare of causing income inequality.

That’s a barbed accusation and it’s all the more intriguing considering the union politics that led UNITE HERE to lose a sizable chunk of its membership to an SEIU stalking horse after letting SEIU lead it around on a string.

UNITE HERE is pushing louder and harder on ObamaCare than any other major union. I don’t think Bruce Raynor, its former General President, and an Obama crony, is too happy.

As national Democrats prepare to run against the GOP on income equality issues, a giant union has issued a scathing Obamacare document that could undermine that case.

“The Irony of ObamaCare: Making Inequality Worse” is the title of the UNITE HERE (Culinary parent) document that is posted here and soon to be making its way to Capitol Hill. It is devastating to the Democrats.

“Most of the ACA’s $965 billion in subsidies will go directly to commercial insurance companies, one of the largest transfers of public wealth to private hands ever. Since the ACA passed, the average stock price of the big for-profit health insurers doubled, their top executives were paid more than a half billion dollars in cash and stock options, and in the past 2 years, the top 10 insurers have spent $25 billion on mergers and acquisitions.

“Cutting People’s Pay: If employers follow the incentives in the law, they will push families onto the exchanges to buy coverage. This will force low-wage service industry employees to spend $2.00, $3.00 or even $5.00 an hour of their pay to buy similar coverage.”

This isn’t the sort of thing that Democrats want to be dealing with now and considering how much Obama has already tampered with ObamaCare, UNITE HERE clearly believes that if it makes enough noise, it will get its way.

UNITE HERE’s campaign is still rooted in union unfairness, but its attacks press on issues of crony capitalism and lost jobs that eerily echo Republican criticisms of ObamaCare.

That’s some sweet Karma for union members who didn’t have enough sense or ability to see Obama for the liar that he is. Their ignorance and illiteracy has ruined our country by voting for Obama twice as well as crazy Harry Reid; they have certainly ruined the living standards in Las Vegas. Next time vote for a leader who will promote the industry and livelihood of those for whom you work, not someone who tells people and corporations to stay away from Vegas.

I think that the union members did have enough sense – the problem belongs with the unions themselves

The union leadership couldn’t justify its existence or even the union’s existence without Zero-care. I do feel a bit sorry for the members. They’ve been hosed, but union bosses have done it to them since there were labor unions, and the rest of us got hose right along with them.

I feel, sorry for the entire country. We’ve totally lost our way.

The mere fact that man got elected in the first place is a terrible indictment of our own shallowness and arrogance

This is yet another thing that will make the Obama cabal double down on its agenda.
