Monica Lewinsky Wasn’t a Victim —- America Was

LEWINSKY GINSBURGMonica Lewinsky wasn’t brought back from a cul-de-sac of the ‘90s celebrity scandal universe, where Kato Kaelin still sleeps on a couch, Amy Fisher stalks quiet Long Island streets and Tonya Harding skates around in circles, in order to hurt Bill and Hillary.

Vanity Fair brought Monica in to help them.

That’s why it’s Monica’s essay in Vanity Fair and not the essays of any of the women whom Bill Clinton sexually harassed and whom Hillary Clinton tried to silence.

Hillary’s political career was built on Monica Lewinsky and cancer. Rudy Giuliani’s cancer. Without Monica and cancer, instead of running for president she would be delivering a commencement address at Bennington College and the dean would be introducing her as Hillary Rodham.

Monica made Bill and Hillary into the victims of their own misbehavior. Vanity Fair is hoping that Democrats forget the political dysfunction, sellouts and blatant corruption of the Clinton years. Its editorial staff is hoping that they’ll get angry about Ken Starr and “privacy violations” all over again.

But Bill and Hillary aren’t victims. They’re two dysfunctional people with a knack for making their personal problems into the country’s problem. They’ve done it before and they’re doing it again. They deal with their personal problems, just as they dealt with Monica Lewinsky, through abuses of power.

Monica was disposable. If it hadn’t been her, it would have been someone else. Bill and Hillary treated her the way they treated any woman who became an obstacle to their political ambitions. That’s a step up from how the Kennedy clan treated inconvenient women by drowning them, drugging them or lobotomizing them.

Feminists are debating whether Hillary was right to call Monica a “narcissistic loony toon” instead of discussing the private War on Women she waged against any woman complaining about her husband’s behavior. It’s a cheap distraction from what really matters. The outrage over the War on Women, ‘90s edition, featuring stops at the Tailhook Symposium and Anita Hill’s Department of Education digs, did not extend to abuses by powerful liberal men. There was one set of feminist rules for a drunken Navy lieutenant in Vegas and another for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States.

As long as he was a liberal.

Monica isn’t a victim either. Liberal feminists were hypocritical in their treatment of her, but they were far more hypocritical in their treatment of the women Bill Clinton sexually harassed. Talking about how unfair they were to Monica lets them off the hook for how unfair they were to women who did not want a sexual relationship with Bill Clinton and who demonstrated more authentic feminist creds by speaking out about it than the professional liberal feminists who smeared and demeaned them to protect Bill.

There was a power imbalance between Bill and Monica. And Bill Clinton is a compulsive manipulator, but Monica wasn’t a child. She chose to have an affair with another woman’s husband and was humiliated because that man was the President of the United States. The outcome was inevitable.

Hillary Clinton was right to call her a “narcissistic loony toon”, but Hillary, running for president on a platform of her own Monica-manufactured celebrity, is an even more narcissistic loony toon than Monica could ever aspire to be. And Bill Clinton, who chases cameras as avidly as he chases women, is the king of all narcissistic loony toons.

The real victim wasn’t any of these three repulsive characters. It was the United States of America.

The American people wanted good government and instead got a demented duo whose uncontrolled appetite for power, admiration and everything else, including White House furniture, knew no limit.

And they’re still the victims today.

There are two types of victims. There are those Americans who consented to have a political relationship with Bill and Hillary. Twice. And there are those who didn’t.

There are the Monica Lewinskys and the Juanita Broaddricks.

There are Americans who were raped by the Clinton Administration. And there are Americans who chose to be abused by it and would still be willing to be abused by it all over again.

Obama and Clinton voters have much in common with Monica Lewinsky. They caused their own problems and yet, like Monica, they whine about being unable to find work. They blame Republicans for humiliating them by revealing their disgusting relationship with a politician who is a serial liar.

And they act as if the whole thing is someone else’s fault.

They whine that if it hadn’t been for the Republicans no one would know just how disgusting their affair with the man who wrecked the country’s national defense, sold pardons like hotcakes and used his own adultery to position his wife’s presidential bid was.

They complain that if Republicans would just shut up about Benghazi, the national debt, the return of Al Qaeda, the imperial presidency and the constant lies leaking out of the White House, no one would judge them for that faded Obama-Biden sticker on the back bumper of their taxpayer subsidized Prius.

They’re not the victims. Victims don’t choose to be victims.

It’s the women who didn’t accede to Bill Clinton’s sexual demands and were smeared by Hillary Clinton for daring to complain about it… who are the victims. It’s the Americans who didn’t play Monica Lewinsky at the ballot box, surrendering to Bill Clinton’s charms while ignoring a funny little man in a cave who was threatening to attack America after bombing its embassies, who are the victims.

Monica Lewinsky is the Clinton and Obama voter, narcissistic to a fault and incapable of acknowledging fault, feeling victimized but unable to point to the real perpetrator, blaming Republicans for exposing her sordid behavior and that of the man who was taking advantage of her, and then complaining that she can’t find work.

Who needs a special essay from Monica Lewinsky when any Obama voter will tell you the same story?

The real victims of Bill, Barack and Hillary are the hardworking Americans who do the best they can for their families and their country, who don’t make excuses for their misbehavior or the misbehavior of their politicians, who work hard at their jobs and work harder to raise their children.

They are the victims of bad governments and bad politicians they didn’t vote for. They are harassed and assaulted by a corrupt political machine, a power-mad bureaucracy and a degenerate Washington establishment. They did not consent to be abused by Bill, Barack, Hillary, the EPA, the DOJ, the BLM, the FEC, the IRS and every other alphabet soup agency out of D.C.

And they are smeared and demonized when they complain about it.

They are the real victims of the abusers, exploiters and manipulators in Washington D.C. whose lust for power knows no limits. And they are also the victims of the Monica Lewinsky voters who whine and make faces, but refuse to end their political affair with the abusers of their country.

      These are beautiful words, Marcus, but that is all they are. To live like you describe is to turn yourself into a victim for those who don’t share your philosophy. The reason why we “push life” away is not for fear of losing it, but to keep it. This is why I have a CCL and a .380-auto on my person, as I type this on a laptop in my favorite coffee shop.

      I will not stand idly by while others attempt to take my life, and the lives of those around me, without acting, and I assure you that I don’t miss what I shoot at.

      Personally, I’d love the world to be like you describe it, and have everyone in the world sign your petition. I would like to be an idealist. But the world you describe is not logical, and not sane.

    Lewinsky would do it all over again if it got her what she wanted, and knew she wouldn’t get caught.

    Hillary didn’t care who Bill raped, as long as he did it with professionalism. Hillary was mad because Bill got caught and threatened her obsession for power. The women who were the real victims are expendable as far as Hillary is concerned. Not unlike her victims in Benghazi.

        It should have been; but whenever a Republican administration or Congressional committee tries to investigate the left’s crimes, they’re dismissed as “old news,” “fake scandal,” and “partisan.” See Benghazi, IRS, NSA, F&F et al. for more recent examples.

It’s about how he intimidated those two Los Alamos scientists into divulging America’s high tech secrets to the Communist Chinese, for C-A-S-H, for his 1996 presidential campaign.     There is a lot of truth to this article, but few surprises. Why wouldn’t a corrupt and dysfunctional nation want to elect corrupt and dysfunctional politicians? As long as we favor lies over truth, hatred over love, and war over peace, it should come as no surprise that we will continue to elect politicians who reflect those values. Bill and Hillary Clinton thrive in modern politics because they excel at being the perfect reflection of the values of modern civilization. If we really want to understand the core drivers of human events, we must never forget that the dominant meme of post-modern America was set in stone with the following line from the 1970 movie Love Story: “Love is never having to say you’re sorry.” If we never have to say we’re sorry, then we never have to admit we were wrong, and the result is we never have to change and things never get any better.

        Thanks. If you and I can agree on something as profound as that, perhaps there is an opening and a chance for America to make some progress. Basically we need new leadership in Washington DC committed to the truth above all things. Just tell it like it is, and let the American people decide what they want for their future.           The problem is where is this leadership going to come from?

          We have a class of professional politicians embedded in an establishment based on mutual commitments. There haven’t been that many political disrupters, e.g. T. Roosevelt, Lincoln, who have gotten to the top job.

          The best hope may lie in decentralizing and democratizing politics. I don’t put that much hope in ‘good’ politicians. I put some hope in the possibility that the people will be able to make their ow nchoices.

            Yes, indeed. The key impetus for positive change would be a unified American people speaking essentially with “one voice” regarding issues that are important to the majority of all Americans, e.g. excellence in education, affordable health care, lower taxes, safer cities, better employment opportunities, border security, etc. Division among the people favors the political status quo, with the result being gridlock and permanent dysfunctionality.

            The only way I can think of to raise consciousness and consensus among the American people would be to have a series of National Town Hall debates, every Friday night if need be, with special topics and especially qualified speakers debating the pros and cons of the critical issues facing our nation the resolution of which will ultimately affect the lives of the American people, for better or worse, in some meaningful way. At the end of each debate there could be an informal and non-binding electronic poll among all registered voters which would serve very nicely to provide our elected representatives with clear and unequivocal evidence of how we feel about things and how we want our nation to handle specific issues that may confront us now and in the future.

            No politician and no political party could easily resist the clear will of the majority of the American people expressed in that way. Unfortunately, that’s the only kind of “program” that is likely to get the attention of the current power structure.

            I’m not sure debates would work. Our political culture has become far too deceptive. Debates consist of talking points being hurled back and forth. It would really take local movements over small issues, cutting through the abstract slogans with real results, building momentum and maybe evolving into a legitimate third party or taking the wheel in both the existing ones.

            I think debates could work if they were properly handled. They could consist of notable experts in multiple pertinent fields, and they could be calculated to present a range of serious opinion and points of view regarding matters of critical interest to the American people. If the debates became a fixture of American politics and were held on a regular basis, there would be ample time for all major issues and all meaningful points of view to be thoroughly explored in front of the American people.

            The key would be effective moderation by a non-partisan panel (or at least a balanced partisan panel), and real time questions and answers on live television, from which there was no possibility of escape and no way to avoid having the entire debate, all questions and all answers, recorded for posterity and preserved forever on the internet.

            The advantage of national debates over local debates is that the will of the majority regarding the real issues facing and real alternatives available to the American people could be more easily determined, and with that expression of national will or national consent by the American people in focus and clear for the entire world to see, it would be much more difficult for elected representatives to act in any way other than consistently with such expressed will or consent.

            I am afraid it is too late for reasonable debate, the govt has gotten to big and too powerful and too many people in politics with money to be made at the govt trough. The only way change is going to occur at this point is if politicians fear the citizen, at this point they don’t, the citizen is nothing more than a means to an end.             1. Identify what needs to be done, create a government-free committee to do it. Neighborhood patrol, school board, library committee, adult education — the old fashioned way. 2. Once such an organization exists, government needs to deal with it on its own terms, and confront the challenge of a hardly-funded org that does the jobs at which government has failed. And we the people learn how to do things apart from government. 3. Multiply this by all the things that need to be done, and a change in everyone’s attitude could slowly happen.

    Jezebel considered God’s people as enemies of the state. Many were put to death and many went into hiding (Google: Project Megiddo).

    Because of this “land deal”, the Judgment of God was pronounced upon Ahab and Jezebel. (Impeachment)

    Although it is certainly true that a good number of Clinton voters were undeterred by the serial lying of Bill and Hillary it is equally true that the economy was doing well in the run-up to Clinton’s reelection in ’96. Yes, the Republican takeover of Congress in ’94 had a lot to do with that, but presidents traditionally get the credit for and are reelected during a period of prosperity. And that equation held for Clinton. In other words the Clinton majority prioritized their economic wellbeing over their exposure to immorality in their co-presidents. This, in my opinion, does not make those who voted for Clinton a second time immoral themselves, just human, all too human. To expect more of the general population is naive. Where this pattern – reelecting a president who delivers prosperity and rejecting a president who delivers hard times – breaks down is in the reelection of Obama. And it may well be that the general population is now actively immoral and more at home with a destructive than with a constructive leader.

    It is no accident Obama used the word “dysfunctional” recently. He knows he made it to the White House because of the “collective dysfunction” inspired by 150 years of socialist policies and Marxist philosophy. It’s in the nooks and crannies of our culture–difficult to eradicate at this point. There must be a “crowbar of events” as Solzhenitsyn called it that will pry the muck loose.

    And most assuredly, in times of deep trouble, a country needs a leader. Where will he or she come from? Well, Joan of Arc was an illiterate peasant girl.

    An example of American insanity is still seeing cars with Obama /Biden stickers..
    They have no shame or common sense .
    We can only pray there will be no Hillary /Michelle stickers in 2016.
