Muslim President of Gambia Threatens to Kill Any Gays Who Claim Asylum in US

Jammeh President of the Republic of The Gambia, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009. The President of Gambia is a cheerful fellow who is committed to ruling the 90 percent Muslim country for a billion years.

Mr Jammeh, who took power in a coup in 1994, was re-elected with 72% of the figures, official figures show. “I will deliver to the Gambian people and if I have to rule this country for one billion years, I will, if Allah says so.”

And while Obama has dramatically increased military assistance to Gambia, President Jammeh is a single issue kind of leader.

Yahya Jammeh told a political rally that gay people had 24 hours to leave the country. He promised “stricter laws than Iran” on homosexuality and said he would “cut off the head” of any gay person found in The Gambia.

But he doesn’t seem to want them going anywhere else either.

The president of Gambia has threatened to kill any citizen of his country who cites persecution of  LGBT people in seeking asylum abroad.

“Some people go to the West and claim they are gays and that their lives are at risk in the Gambia, in order for them to be granted a stay in Europe. If I catch them I will kill them,” President Yahya Jammeh said in a speech in the city of Basse last week, according to African news service APA.

While gay rights groups have focused on Uganda and Nigeria, they’ve largely given Gambia a pass because it is Muslim.

Meanwhile his threat insures that it’s now impossible to deport any Gambian, gay or not.

    What will gay Obama do?

What an odd tack to take considering the present tactics of American evangelical Christian organizations in Africa! We haven’t got legs to stand on considering what American clergy are doing viz homosexuality in Nigeria where American clergy are complicit in the Nigerian government’s severe crackdown on homosexuality.

The Nigerian government is pandering to Islamic sharia law

    • john spielman

rubbish, there are NO Christian missionary groups who advocate killing gays nor anyone else!

      • Johnnyansan

Pastor Steven Anderson, Pastor Curtis Knapp of New Hope Baptist Church, Charles Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church are just a few of the Christians that say homosexuals should be put to death.

Not actually doing it though are they?

The were much cooler when they were THE Gambia.

They still are, but I don’t feel like they’ve earned the definitive

The MSM isn’t listening … and, of course, fears being called “Islamophobe.” Public hangings would change the matter as these are hard to ignore. Hashtags would follow and the 1st lady would seek a photo op. Next expect statements that this has nothing to do with Islam. Some pop star will flash the paparazzi and the story will be forgotten.

    Rewind and repeat.
