New York Times Wants Google to Fire Asians for Diversity

Screen shot 2011-08-29 at 11.33.17 AM

Maybe just call them White Asians and that will make it okay.

The New York Times and assorted liberal activists are complaining that Google is too white. And by too white, they mean less white than the national average.

Non-Hispanic whites are 61 percent of the Google work force, slightly below the national average. (That average, according to 2006-10 numbers, is 67 percent.) Google is thus less white than the typical American company.

But the New York Times is unhappy…

Google’s disclosures come amid an escalating debate over the lack of diversity in the tech industry. Although tech is a key driver of the economy and makes products that many Americans use everyday, it does not come close to reflecting the demographics of the country — in terms of sex, age or race.

Google needs to fix this by hiring a lot of older black ladies. But how diverse is the New York Times anyway? Not very.

But there’s an easy solution. Google can fix its demographics by firing Asians.

Google can only accomplish that by firing well over three-quarters of its Asian employees, and replacing them with blacks and Hispanics (and a few whites, to bring white numbers up from 61 percent to 67 percent).

This is what multiculturalism on crack ends up looking like. Diversity quotas kill meritocracy and replace it with diversity hires who are there to represent a racial group, not to do their jobs well. And it hurts minorities because it discourages ambition.

Achieving a proper racial balance at Google would require firing lots of Asians. Is that really empowering diversity?

Meritocracy is the goose that lays the golden eggs. Even a deeply flawed meritocracy, like ours, far outperforms command-and-control economies. No wonder the Left is so eager to destroy it.

    • WalterBannon

capitalism only fails when it is crony capitalism, and the left’s avowed goal is to destroy capitalism

    • Andrew

When you say the left, do you mean the NYT? Because they didn’t write the paragraph about “firing asians” that this post is fixated on. The author of this post screwed up the attributions, that paragraph is from the WaPo article.

If you mean the Washington Post, when you say “the left” – then, um, carry on I guess? Read the linked post in this article, may clear up some confusion.

The totalitarian ethnic–and ideological (viz Brendan Eich)–cleansers are beginning their long march through the private sector.

Am I allowed to say, “F**K the NY Times?”

    • Douglas J. Bender

      Yes and no.

      • Chavi Beck

What lovely nuance you have, Grandmama.

        • Douglas J. Bender

Why, thank you. But my answers sometimes depend on the context.

    • Andrew

      In this instance? No.

If you follow the links, you’ll see that the NYTimes article never said a thing about firing Asians. The Washington Post article did, however. Daniel Greenfield screwed up his attribution.

      • Ban Liberals

        Thank you!

  • Douglas J. Bender

“Google needs to fix this by hiring a lot of older black ladies.”

I believe you meant to say, “Google needs to fix this by hiring a lot of older, disabled black ladies”. At least to be consistent with an earlier article, somewhere, about some important tech project being handed over to a bunch of older, wise, disabled Latino women. Or something.

    • Chavi Beck

Yeah. Sonia Sotomayor should retire from her current job and apply at Goog.l

  • glpage

If that is how the average leftist thinks we probably have proof that they have very few functioning synapses between their ears.

If you follow the links, you’ll see that the NYTimes article never said a thing about firing Asians. The Washington Post article did, however.

  • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

Instead of Google firing its Asians, the Times should fire all of its employees who either wrote this article or agree with it.

    • Andrew

The NYTimes didn’t write that quote about firing Asians. That was the WaPo article about the Times article. Follow the links, the author of this piece messed up the attribution.

      • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

If you say so. That doesn’t change the fact that the Times still believes in racial quotas that punish whites and Asians.

  • De Doc

It just gets loonier by the day with their ever morphing ideology.

  • RL

They could fire soldout_in_sf and hire a black or hispanic in his stead.

  • nyesq1

The bottom line is that blacks need whites but whites don’t need blacks.
Most everything else is commentary. Most low IQ jobs that blacks are
capable of such as flipping burgers can be done by machines.

Blacks don’t have the IQ and industriousness to be technological innovators and engineers.
How many blacks actually create startups and companies from the ground up instead of get hired as diversity officers.

And…. blacks know who butters their bread.

  • nyesq1

better yet lets hand all of google to blacks and see how it prospers. Just like Zimbabwe, Detroit, Haiti and South Africa

  • DogmaelJones1

So, if Google fired most of its “white Asians,” and replaced them with blacks, Chicanos, members of the Crips and the Bloods and members of gangs associated with La Raza, maybe also with a few blind, superannuated Eskimos and Apaches, would the Times be satisfied with the results? The results being the freezing up of Google and its crashing every thirty minutes. I’m sure the Times relies heavily on Google, and its employees (overwhelmingly guilty white liberals) would have to stifle their complaints or else be charged with racism or “white privilege.” Poor babies.

    • Andrew

If you follow the links, you’ll see that the NYTimes article never said a thing about firing Asians. The Washington Post article did, however. Daniel Greenfield screwed up his attribution.

  • laura r

i thought a billion $ industry would want the best people? if they are happy w/thier help, why fire? the asians should sue. btw, i have no idea how many blks are good w/tech. maybe many. they should have interviews & be hired when an asian quits or gets promoted. business used to be business, now i dont get it. are the black lobbies paying google to do this??

    • Chavi Beck

It’s the pathetic white liberals doing it; nobody has to bribe them to despise whites.

      • laura r

so google is not traditionally business-like. im too old to understand this. my uncle (who was a mogel) said: the bottom line for a business is to make money. actually he said ” the purpose of a making a movie is to make $$” there was a time where other agendas didnt fit into the equation.

  • naro

The NBA and NFL should hire a lot more white players. Case closed.

  • theBuckWheat

I want to know how many Asians and other minorities, especially any that are in upper management, are conservative.

  • quillerm

Who do they think they are? The VA?

  • quillerm

The NYT is made up of hard core liberal New York City elites. They never think about an individual personal achievements as having a bearing on employee qualifications. If your a liberal, you have met 95% of the qualifications necessary to be hired at the NYT. The remaining 5% is based on racial quotas.

    • Andrew

If you follow the links, you’ll see that the NYTimes article never said a thing about firing Asians. The Washington Post article did, however. Daniel Greenfield screwed up his attribution. Look for yourself!

  • edlancey

I wonder when they will ask for the same for the NBA

  • Dana Garcia

Any NYTimes scribbler who complains about lack of diversity at some company should be required to resign to make his position available for a diverse person.

    • laura r

hes black for sure, or bi racial. seems that bi thing is popular.

    • Andrew

If Google fired well over three-quarters of its Asian employees, and replaced them with blacks and Hispanics, it would go out of business quickly.

    • laura r

maybe there are some good tech people out there who just graduated college. the person who did my tech work for my site is a mixed blk indian mexican. she also has a masters degree as a language teacher. remember zuckerburg hires mexicans. race or gender should never be considered while hiring people.

      • Julie Pascal

Are companies supposed to consider race or gender or are they not supposed to consider those things?

Sure, there are good tech people who just graduated college, but if they are hired without considering their race or plumbing, chances are that Google will have even more Asians.

        • laura r

so what? a business should hire the best people. why should there be any other factor involved? anyway its a multi billion corp, & im sure they are getting something from somewhere to spend time firing & hiring. it makes no buisness sence. so what if it is 100 asians? no one owes blacks or mexicans jobs, it is googles choice. if they fire asians because of their race it is blatent dicrimination.

  • RevnantDream

Now that the Asians have become rich with technical savvy, they are now deemed white by the self called sages of Identity politics. If you make it in our culture you become the enemy of the Welfare maggots . Filled only with the unending envy & malice by the socialists . Along with the Elitists who align themselves with the bums of the Universe, pretending they are victims while they live off society like vultures.
The social elite always have to have a group to use to pretend they ar so tender.
Check your privilege with the Quota whores.

Lefties hate and fear Asians because they are an identity group that outperform and replace all other quota groups – specifically leftists.

  • http://libertyandculture.blogspot.com/ Jason P

    Yellow is the new White.

If Asian-Americans thought that their recent arrival would exempt them from racist “affirmative action” they should now realize that “affirmative action” was never about justice. No one today is responsible for slavery. The illogic necessarily includes Asian-Amerians. They are no more or less responsible for slavery.

Seems to me if you’re going to write an article about another article, then their should be a link, to said article.

Don’t worry, the Times will eventually blame it on the Jews and call for a pogrom.

    • Andrew

Not sure how the Jews got involved here, but if you follow the links, you’ll see that the NYTimes article never said a thing about firing Asians. The Washington Post article did, however. Daniel Greenfield screwed up his attribution.

  • Andrew

That quote about firing asians is nowhere to be found in my search of NYT articles. It appears in the WaPo article you sourced, but the WaPo link to the NYT article does not contain that quote. No idea where it came from, but you should probably clear that up (a link to the NYT article would help) if you’re going to claim it is something the NYT said.

    • Andrew

Actually, that quote is from the WaPo article writer, it has nothing to do with the NYT. This article is slamming the NYT because the writer, Daniel Greenfield, does not understand who wrote what. Pretty terrible.

    • Daniel Greenfield

It’s the logical outcome of its position

      • Andrew

Sure, if you’re a paranoid race-baiter I could see how you would come to that conclusion, then mislead your entire comment section with an unsourced quote that isn’t even from the NYT to deceive them into the belief that “the liberal media” is wickedly racist.

It’s just the logical outcome of your writing.

There’s a movement in California to keep Asian intake in the UCs to the ratio of Asians in the state. The goal is to get Hispanic and Black students up to their population ratio in these schools. Imagine what it’ll do to the prowess of Silicon Valley and the country’s competitiveness in general.
