To be fair, it was the left who propped up Christie in the first place. This was a tactic aimed at eventually knocking him down so as to clear the field for Hillary. The flaw in their plan was the timing of all this. If the left had left this bridge dust up alone they could have kept their power dry for later in the election cycle when it could have been plausibly too late for the GOP to run another candidate with the same odds of defeating her. As it is, even if Christie goes down in flames the Hillary Regime will have to start all over trying to discredit the next guy. The key to fighting back though is to constantly remind people that each day that goes by is another day where Hillary is out of government, doesn't have a job, no power, no voice in anything and fewer and fewer things to cling to as a 'success'.

"Bridgegate" is a story. It's not a scandal just because someone wants it to be--it actually happened. And it affected a lot of everyday people.

Contrast this to Benghazi. Anyone with a brain figured it wasn't about a video within a day or two; and even Obama's least critical minions accepted that after a week. It certainly wasn't "under-reported;" it claimed a few news cycles. Like it or not, this knowledge did not affect the outcome of the election. Now we come to find out Benghazi wasn't even a consulate, and Stevens was involved in a very risky CIA operation--from whence originated (supposedly) the video story. Cover for us being where we weren't "supposed" to be. You might not like that--I don't--but it is part of what the CIA does.

A few in Congress seem desperate to drum up an alternate story where the president was contemptuously snoozing instead of providing support; they just can't seem to get anyone involved to support that alternate story. If there's a "scandal" to Benghazi--it's not the one they want.

The IRS scandal is maybe a better comparison: There were consequences: people got fired, and the groups that wound up having their status denied were actually progressive groups.

But because there was little fallout for conservative groups and it was shown that many different types of groups were targeted post-CItizens United, and because nothing indicated that the White House was involved, THAT part of the story was underreported. Had it actually been political vendetta--you don't think that would have been a story?

You miss the point. ALL republicans/conservatives are viciously mocked, vilified and dismissed by the left. The bigger the RINO the more the leftist media act like maybe they can tolerate him/her, but as soon as they pose any real threat to their complete choke hold on power in this country, that person is excoriated. That's what happened to McCain and that is what is happening to Christie. Just because both of them are RINOs does not invalidate my point. If they have an R next time their name, the media will crucify them. It's inevitable and proven out by recent history. The progressive/socialist/communist left is in complete control.
