NYPD Warns NYC Too Dangerous for Democratic Convention

A Democrat in City Hall has managed to turn back the clock on 20 years of crime reductions by championing criminals and waging war on the police. Elect a Dinkins errand boy and you get the second term of David Dinkins.

His fellow Democrats should benefit from the crime wave has brought back to New York.

The head of the NYPD’s sergeants union on Tuesday urged Democrats to choose anywhere but New York City as the site of their 2016 convention, citing surging crime and a lack of support for cops by Mayor de Blasio.

Full-page newspaper ads in The Post and elsewhere said the Sergeants Benevolent Association “cannot now in good conscience” join de Blasio in lobbying the Democratic National Committee to hold its political powwow at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The open letter signed by SBA President Ed Mullins said that “while the Barclays Center is still new and glistening, the great city in which it stands is lurching back to the bad old days of high crime.”

Citing official statistics and news reported exclusively by The Post, Mullins noted that shootings are up, “squeegee people are reappearing on the streets, and aggressive panhandlers and con men are populating the subways and Times Square.

“The DNC should chose another venue,” Mullins said.

In clear shot at the Rev. Al Sharpton — who led an anti-cop rally on Staten Island this past Saturday — Mullins also accused de Blasio of throwing city cops “under the bus” to pander to “the loudest of the city’s anti-safety agitators.”

“Morale among police officers is low, and there are few signs that it will get better any time soon,” Mullins wrote.

Meanwhile after de Blasio shot down Stop and Frisk, 21 were wounded in gun violence this weekend. Hmm maybe the DNC should come down here.

Two people were killed and more than 20 others were injured in New York City over the weekend in a spate of gun violence that included eight shootings in less than eight hours, police say.

A total of 23 people were shot between early Saturday and the end of the day Sunday in 13 separate shootings, police say. Five of those shootings were Saturday and led to nine injuries. The other eight on Sunday left 14 with injuries — some critical or serious — and two dead.

Here’s what I predicted last year in De Blasio Time.

Do you miss the old New York City? Remember when subway trains were covered in graffiti, a news hour began with six shootings and everyone who lived in the city had been mugged at least once?…

The muggers are coming back. The squeegee men are coming back. The crazy people randomly stabbing you on the subway, the gangs shooting each other over turf, the race rioters marching through neighborhoods and shouting, “Whose streets, our streets”– they’re all coming back.

The subways are still clean… for now… until de Blasio decides graffiti is a civil right. The rest of it is underway already.

So we are abandoning our deep blue, Democrat Party controlled cities.

Here’s to hoping De Blasio is a terminal victim of irony.

What’s interesting is how fast this is happening. Another tribute to the effectiveness of modern communications.

DeBlasio seems to be pleased with all the dead and indued minority members.
I hope he wants to disarm the police too. Either as payback for their ad or because he thinks citizens will be safer in a totally gun free city.
Citizens must strip DeBlasio of armed guards, his armored car, and his body armor. He doesn’t need it. The city is safe, and it sends the wrong message about New York. Right?

All the more reason to hold it there. W/o rapes, killings and muggings they wouldn’t know they’re in a Blue Town at all.

What could be more fitting that for the Democratic Party to hold its convention in a city which is a) expensive, and b) dangerous thanks to their own policies? Let the delegates and the Party pay through the nose for the privilege of being mugged and shot at.

Ed Koch was an incompetent mayor as well. In fact, Dinkins was Koch’s fourth term. Crime was also high under Koch. In fact, between 1946 and 1994, crime in New York gradually increased during the administrations of seven mayors. It took the election of Giuliani in 1993 for the crime to finally decrease significantly.

We’re approaching a level of societal melt-down and dysfunction that could make the 1968 Democratic Convention look like a love-in.

I lived in New Jersey for most of my childhood, teens and early twenties. I remember seeing all the news stories about NYC crime, and I remember when it started getting cleaned up. Giuliani made created a system that seemed to support law and order. The change was good.

Bloomberg is not the man for NYC. He has ruined the place. I think the Democrats should have their convention in the place their ideas brought about.

bloomberg made NY a santuary city for illegals.

I too am concerned for the safety of our democratic party saviors and heroes. they need a convention city which contains people who agree with them politically, economically, and morally. I nominate Mogadishu. famous city. lovely beaches. industrious, religious, dedicated population. yes. that’s it. Mogadishu.

New Yorkers should pay attention to their voting patterns. When was the last time New York City had a good Democrat Party Mayor?
