Sure the boat may look like it’s sinking. But that’s because we haven’t drilled enough holes yet.
The Obama administration is considering creating a pilot program giving refugee status to young people from Honduras as part of a plan to slow the influx of unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border, White House officials said Thursday.
I would like to unveil my plan to slow down the rate of Obama’s lies by paying him a silver dollar for every lie he tells.
Obama doesn’t want to slow down the rate. He wants to speed it up. So his solution to the problem involves making it bigger. That’s true of the economy and of illegal immigration.
He makes every crisis worse with solutions that depend on crazy lies and are intended to worsen the problem.
The plan would involve screening youths in their home country to determine whether they qualify for refugee status. The program would be limited in scope and would start in Honduras, one of the world’s most violent nations, but if successful could be expanded to include other Central American countries.
Psst… hey want to come to America? Just say you’re a refugee.
But I’m sure that importing “youths” from some of the most violent nations in the world will in no way increase our own crime rates. Just like devaluing the dollar in no way reduces our standard of living.
Math is for Republicans.
Under the proposal, the legal standard to qualify for refugee status would remain the same as it is for those who seek the status after arriving in the U.S., officials said, adding that the goal is to deter children who would not ultimately qualify for refugee status from attempting the dangerous trek to the U.S.
Since they all “qualify” that just means the real goal is more Central American migrants on welfare.
Here’s what the numbers look like now. And that’s just the beginning.
New numbers released by the House Judiciary Committee show the “vast majority” of unaccompanied minors seeking asylum are granted it before even appearing before a judge.
“Information from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that shows 65 percent of unaccompanied alien minors’ asylum applications have been immediately approved by asylum officers in Fiscal Year 2014,” says a Judiciary Committee statement.
“And this is just the first bite of the apple. Many more cases can be approved later. Where an asylum officer does not approve the application, it is then referred to an immigration judge where the applicant can try again. If that fails, they can continue to appeal their case.”
Let’s call 100% and get it over with.
Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina, speaking Thursday in Washington, said he hadn’t heard about the plan but expected it to come up Friday. He said the three Central American nations have sought to pursue a unified approach. “We expect that the solution to this problem also is equal for the three countries,” he said.
Sure. We pay his citizens welfare. His citizens send it back home where it gets taxed.
Kevin Appleby, director of migration policy for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said the refugee proposal would be welcomed by the advocacy community as long as there was no attempt by the administration to pair it to changes to the trafficking law.
“It cannot substitute for providing full asylum rights for kids who have arrived in the United States,” he said. “There is no quid pro quo.”
I’m sure that won’t be a problem for Open Borders Obama.
