Obama Just Handed Over a Bunch of Anti-Tank Missiles to ISIS

Who could have predicted this would happen? Oh everyone. I’m not even going to bother with an “I Told You So”. Everyone outside the D.C. bubble was predicting this.

Two of the main rebel groups receiving weapons from the United States to fight both the regime and jihadist groups in Syria have surrendered to al-Qaeda.

The US and its allies were relying on Harakat Hazm and the Syrian Revolutionary Front to become part of a ground force that would attack the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

For the last six months the Hazm movement, and the SRF through them, had been receiving heavy weapons from the US-led coalition, including GRAD rockets and TOW anti-tank missiles.

But on Saturday night Harakat Hazm surrendered military bases and weapons supplies to Jabhat al-Nusra, when the al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria stormed villages they controlled in northern Idlib province

In Idlib, Harakat Hazm gave up their positions to Jabhat al-Nusra “without firing a shot”, according to some reports, and some of the men even defected to the jihadists.

In Aleppo, where Harakat Hazm also has a presence, the group has survived, but only by signing a ceasefire agreement with Jabhat al-Nusra, and giving up some of their checkpoints to the group.

There are no “moderate” rebels. There are only Jihadists pretending to be what we want them to be to get weapons, money and air support from us. Once they get it, they will pass it on up the ladder.

As I pointed out back in June, this is how it works.

Four out of five of the FSA’s front commanders had demanded to work with Al Qaeda last year. Parts of the FSA joined the Islamic Front and seized the FSA’s weapons warehouses taking anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons. The FSA fighters fled. Earlier ISIS had seized USAID items intended for the FSA.

After these embarrassments Obama was forced to temporarily suspend aid to the Free Syrian Army.

Pouring weapons and money into Syria just means arming and funding ISIS.

Well, you once again hit the bulls-eye, Mr. Greenfield. My initial thought regarding our government’s incompetence was “unbelievable,” but it’s really not. It’s become so commonplace that we can almost expect it. In fact, it gives some creedance to those who believe that it’s part of Obama’s master plan.

It was, and still is, nothing more than a front for the Muslim Brotherhood takeover of North African and Middle East countries… they stir up the natives, topple the govt, and move into the vacuum… Obama plans to try the same MO in America to create a “national emergency”, so he can invoke martial law, shutdown the Internet, seize personal assets, and arrest “dissenters” without due process… not saying he can get away with it, but I believe that’s the plan… the “occupy movement” and Ferguson debacle are just warm-ups…

    I recently addressed this issue in another FrontPage discussion. Basically I agree with you: Yes, I think their actions are planned, and for the very reasons you noted. But it’s a double-edged sword, because what they are doing has been a proven failure time and time again. Progressives (i.e. Socialists) don’t learn from history; they make the same mistakes over and over. Hence, I believe it’s entirely possible to be clever and devious, yet stupid and incompetent, all at the same time. So we’re both right!

Pretty much everyone knew this wouldn’t end well. How could it? It started in Benghazi, where Americans were sacrificed to make sure Muslim terrorists were well armed. Now they are and, naturally, they are using the weapons to commit a litany of war crimes… that they won’t be punished for. We are pretending to fight them but are making darn sure we aren’t effective.

As usual, more Americans will end up losing their lives in Obama’s Really Excellent Muslim Adventure.

There are no “moderate” Muslims period! I believe Obola also Knew that when IS. was crossing Iraq earlier in the year, that Iraqi Armed forces heavy weapons facilities would fall into their hands, including chemical weapons stocks.
One would have to be naïve to think that Obola and his crew were blind to the fact that Qatar was furnishing weapons, including the deadly Chinese short range AA. missiles to IS.
This is why low level air strikes by A10s and attack choppers is no longer possible.

Those TOW’s were provided to the so called “FSA” earlier this year.Direct assistence seems to have stopped sometime around last spring.In fact John Allen has spilled the beans on a change in Syria policy when he revealed the goal is now a negotiated settlement between Assad and the FSA.Coupled with the complete abadonment of FSA brigades in Allepo and Idlib and the policy now appears to accept Assad’s survival and allow the Syrian army to be the “boots on the ground” in much of Syria.The kurds would liberate and secure Rojava.
Hopefully Obama is trading defacto recognition of Assad with Iran for some concessions in the nuke deal.
As for the syrian kurds they now appear to playing the role formerly occupied by the FSA -sort of.There are some FSA units in Kobani.The PYD has accepted some FSA militias and rejected others.So rather than Turkey or Saudi,it now looks like the PYD is vetting legit FSA units.Given that the PYD is secular that makes sense.But they’re not at war with Assad.If Assad survives the likely outcome for the kurds is greater autonomy in Rojava.Perhaps acceptable FSA militias will remain in the region.
Even if Assad survives he will still be under pressure to implement reform.Many of those who supported reform sided with the regime when the civil war broke out.Those living in Damascus really had no other choice.But when the fighting stops they will again pressure Assad to make concessions.He can either work with the opposition or risk the war starting up all over again.

Again, this is just a guess… and even if true… there’s no guarantee that such a coup would be successful.

There are some that believe, since Obama does anything he wants to do now by govt regs, fiat, or executive order, that our govt has ALREADY been taken over, and America is already a dictatorship… With the Repubs in control of Congress…it won’t be long to see if there’s any truth to that theory.
