<blockquote>"You do realize that there was lots more CO2 in the atmosphere millions of years ago and the world didn't end?"</blockquote>
Yes indeed, and it was a lot warmer then. Much warmer than modern human civilisation is adapted to. We're currently heading that way, but tens of times faster than natural climate changes.

<blockquote>"Increased CO2 is an effect of global warming, not a cause. The oceans are a huge CO2 sink. When the oceans warms, CO2 is expelled. When the oceans cool, CO2 is absorbed. Just like the CO2 in a bottle of Coca-Cola."</blockquote>
Except that today, the oceans are warming *and* absorbing our CO2, which is why the oceans are acidifying and why atmospheric CO2 isn't rising as fast as it would if all our emissions remained in the atmosphere. Unfortunately that situation, which is ameliorating our global warming impact, cannot last forever.

gee, I hope it's the same kind of super sustainable, green building material that they used to rebuild dwellings in LA - after Katrina.

You know, those ones suffering from mold, mildew and decay after just a few years.
Positively, this means they will have a never ending money pit and boon to the economy .

Wood is a fairly poor building material for anything over a few stories as high rises require high strength materials like steel beams that perform well under high compression loads. That and steel can be joined much more effectively via welding than screws, brackets, or other methods used for wood. Building anything tall with wood already puts it close to its design limits. Throw in fire, aging, moisture, and it can get ugly pretty quick. Went to a 200 year old school as a kid that was 5 stories. In a good thunderstorm you better have your sea legs on and not have motion sickness. To say it swayed a little was a huge understatement. Always fun to watch the new students have panic attacks because they always thought it would collapse!

Obviously O-Inc. didn't bother to consult any actual architects or structural engineers.
