ObamaCare Center Hired 600 Employees to Process 2 Applications a Month

Last year there was good news in Wentzville.

The healthcare plan that’s divided the nation is bringing 600 jobs to Wentzville.

Serco, a government contractor, is expected to lease the U.S. Fidelis Call Center on Mall Parkway and open a processing center to handle applications for health insurance under the new Affordable Care Act.

A Serco representative said the company was contracted by the Department of Health and Human Services to process federal applications of health insurance exchanges. The Wentzville is one of three Serco is opening.

The positions start at $12 an hour and include benefits.

And best of all the work is incredibly easy.

News 4 dug for answers after finding out workers in Wentzville are being paid do nothing at a facility where they are supposed to be processing paper applications of those signing up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

“The main thing is that the data entry side does not have hardly any work to do. They’re told to sit at their computers and hit the refresh button every ten minutes. No more than every ten minutes. They’re monitored. To hopefully look for an application. They’re [sic] goals are set to process two applications per month and some people are not even able to do that.”

This appears to be one of three Serco ObamaCare paperwork facilities. The total contract for Serco’s ObamaCare gig was $1.2 billion. So we can assume that this branch soaked up a few hundred million.

Serco is a British company. Its US branch gets 90 percent of its business from the government. And it was notorious for overcharging the government.

In response to criticism, Obama Inc. defended the $1.2 billion contract.

“Serco is a highly skilled company that has a proven track record in providing cost-effective services to numerous other (U.S.) federal agencies,” said Brian Cook, a spokesman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the HHS agency overseeing implementation of the exchanges.

Two applications a month. Doesn’t get more cost effective than that.

Anyone who has dealt with the government knows this is not uncommon – it is the new normal.

Government efficiency is an oxymoron – and always will be.

I worked for a particular US Executive Branch agency in the OIG/OI. This was during Clinton’s administration and we thought government was bloated, corrupt, and evil then! We could hardly move towards efficacy due to the bureaucratic morass, although our office was full of bright-eyed, optimistic, self-initiators. My Supervisor was probably the best boss I have worked for. She fostered and cultivated our self-initiation, hence we were extremely loyal and hard-working, well most of us. She loathed the DC environment and got a lot of flak from her superiors for being a trailblazer. Most of government service – unfortunately – is not suited for cultivating human initiative. That is a shame. There are many federal civil servants that deserve respect and honor. Admittedly, we only hear about all the pukey ones.

The magic of government run centralization. That should bring costs down. It’s magic you know.

I really envy those employees, especially the ones manning the computers. They have a chance to read Tolstoy’s War and Peace, and all 50,000 volumes of the collected works of Vladimir Lenin, and Das Kapital, too.

Obama should pay the bill. I wonder, has Obama ever paid a bill with his own hard-earned cash?

    • Hard Little Machine

Obama has never earned any hard earned cash. He’s been on the government dole his entire life.
