ObamaCare’s Insane Race Questionnaire Lists “Singaporean” as a Race

racial-identity-crisis1

I don’t even understand the process that could have produced something as insane as this race and ethnicity questionnaire which ignores the existence of any and all groups except Latinos and Asians and subdivides them into infinite categories of ethnicity and race.

Obamacare-Ethnicity-Questionnaire-e1391637597836

The millions of Jews don’t exist on this list. Neither does the huge Irish-American population. But if you’re Okinawan or Iwo Jiman, as opposed to just plain vanilla Japanese, the list has you covered.

The questionnaire insanely lists Singaporean as an ethnicity. I shouldn’t be too surprised considering the law is named after a man who thought that Austrian was a language.

Singapore, as we know it, has existed for less than two centuries and consists of Chinese, with some Malays and Indians.

Strangely enough the questionnaire, which takes the time to break down the Japanese into three groups (but excludes the Ainu who actually are another race) doesn’t do the same thing for the Chinese, though it does separate out the Taiwanese.

(Get ready for an angry diplomatic protest from the PRC. “There’s only one China. We just haven’t conquered it yet!)

Moving on to south of the border, there are Mexican-Americans, Mexicans and Mexican-American Indians listed under ethnicity. (No Mexican-Indians for some reasons.)

Are Mexican-Americans a different ethnic group than Mexicans?

Virtually every Latin American country is listed as its own ethnicity. For the Supra-Nationalists of the Hispanic Race, La Raza is listed as an ethnicity, even though its literal meaning is race.

Also Latin American is listed separately as an ethnicity.

About the only mention of Europe is Spain, which gets to be subdivided into the Valencian, Spaniard, Castillian and Spanish Basque. Is this really a major issue for the United States?

But the best ethnicity yet, may be the Canal Zone. The Canal Zone? Yes, because Senator McCain needs his own ethnic group.

  • Omar

The ridiculous questionnaire is actually funny, considering the fact that the Panama Canal Zone does not exist anymore. It has not existed since Jimmy “Lester Maddox is the essence of the Democratic Party and I greeted the Castro brothers like old friends” Carter gave the land away to the then-Communist dictatorship in Panama.

    • Daniel Greenfield

Clearly the Canal Zoners deserve their own homeland. They’re officially a separate ethnic group.

      • Softly Bob

They can’t have their own homeland in the Canal Zone, so maybe Obama plans to send them all to Israel and claim that the Israelis stole Jerusalem from them.
They can learn a few lessons on revisionism from the Fakestinians that are already there.

      • pennant8

Senator McCain is a Calzone? And all this time I though a calzone was a popular Italian snack.

        • Daniel Greenfield

          McCain isn’t a popular anything.

  • camp7

    Daniel,

Sometimes I think you have too much fun writing about insanity. IMO.

    Sincerely,

There’s so much of it now that you either learn to enjoy it or move to a deserted island.

      • truebearing

I’m in the market for a deserted island. Something as empty as Joe Biden’s skull and as remote as the possibility of Obama telling the truth. Any ideas? Please send them to:

        Serenity Now@gmail.com

I have to keep this quiet. Too many people could tip the island over, like almost happened in Guam.

      • DogmaelJones1

A deserted island (deserted by whom?), or a desert island? Or was that a slip of the fingers on the keyboard? Just kidding you.

        • Daniel Greenfield

If it’s not deserted, I’ll have to start on the infrastructure from scratch.

      • laura r

you couldnt make this stuff up. the problem is that we dont need comedy. we have reality. i see an industry slowely drying up.

        • Daniel Greenfield

We all live in absurdistan now

  • A Z

So if white boy, billionaire Jim Rogers emigrated back to the U.S. would he be considered a minority?

By Obama type ‘edumacation’ he would be.

    ~ 74% Chinese

    ~ 9% Indian

    Liberalism is a mental disorder.

  • Softly Bob

The only thing that concerns me is that Liberals are not represented on this list, because I didn’t notice an ethnic category called ‘stupid’.

    • objectivefactsmatter

Anyone using the document falls under that category.

  • truebearing

Jews and Irishmen aren’t included because they will eventually be denied healthcare. Their skin color doesn’t qualify them for care.

  • onecornpone

    ROTF………..

    This is high comedy!

The inmates are running the asylum…

  • objectivefactsmatter

Race is like gender. Anyone not “oppressed” gets to use any label they want.

Multiculturalism is the favored strategy of petit bourgeois men on the make. See http://clarespark.com/2012/12/01/petit-bourgeois-radicalism-and-obama/. “Petit-bourgeois radicalism and Obama.”

  • DogmaelJones1

Are the Argentinians listed? I’ll bet they are. Even though Argentina was settled by a host of Europeans (Spanish, Germans, British, Italians, etc.), and Jews of every nationality, and is as much a “multiracial” or “multinational” a country as is the U.S.

    • Daniel Greenfield

      That they are

    • Antistuff

ethnicity and race are two different things tho, not that this ridiculous form makes any sense of that :)

  • Bryan

There is an ‘other’ field. Since, I’m Germanic/Welsh/Danish, I can check other three times (even more if I want to break down the two countries – e.g. Bavarian-German). It gets even better. I am in a minority of one if I want to also take into account my own upbringing (3 years in California, 18 years in Washington, 10 years in Italy,…). The definition of ethnicity includes cultural or social groups. Can I include facebookovian, library-card-holderite, etc. I may need a separate sheet of paper for all the checkmarks I’ll be putting in other.

  • tickletik

No one should be answering questions like this even if the census was sane.

    • laura r

it’s a invasion of my civil right to privacy.

      • Chavi Beck

Hear, hear. My reaction exactly, when my child was 2 days old and I had to fill out this form in order to get a birth certificate (or social security number, I forget which).

  • Craven Moorehead

obama is waging jihad on america. white members of congress and politicians with any common sense are afraid to speak up in fear of being shunned by white guilt progressives and obamazombies.

america is becoming a 3rd world joke.

    #impeachobama

    • Antistuff

You are so right! When are white members of congress going to get a chance to speak!!

  • James Wood

Singaporean is indeed a specific “race”.
The Chinese there are very different with Mainland Chinese. They all use Singlish for their daily communication and they have different behavior.

    • Daniel Greenfield

Using Singlish doesn’t make one a member of a different ethnic group. No more than Spanglish does.

    • laura r

chinese is chinese. they may all look a bit different but they are all asian.

  • v

It is a nation of stupid. Never in a million years when I first came to this country would I have ever thought that this garbage be part of this country. What a waste. I won’t blame either Democrats or Republicans, I will blame the ignorance of the American electorate for voting people in who are either completely out of their mind or their minds and the mind of their offsprings have been totally altered and damaged by drug use.

    • Lightbringer

Don’t blame the ignorance of the American electorate; that ignorance is the result of a deliberate policy instituted over a century ago by such “progressive educational reformers” as John Dewey and his comrades at Columbia Teachers College. These “education reforms”, combined with the genius of advertising and mass media, have turned Americans into a bunch of mush-heads. More Americans can probably tell you everything you want to know about last week’s popular television shows, but would draw a blank when asked to name one Supreme Court justice.

  • wreed22

Transplanted Tarheel here. We speak Carolinian. The sub-groups of North and South are similar nationalities although the differing dialects can be confusing for the casual visitor. No visas are required, but you have to have proof you tasted grits before you can exit the territories.

  • Tim

Since when was race important to overall health? They should be asking questions like: how much do you smoke? drink? BASE jump?

Racism will die out in America much more quickly when questionaires stop asking people about their race. I firmly believe this.

    • Bryan

There is a basis for race and ethnicity questions. For example, members of the black race are known to have a higher chance of heart problems. Members of various ethnicities eat different foods leading to different health issues. That being said; the basis is for health care, not health insurance. It is something your Doctor needs to know so he can pay more attention to areas that are more likely. Since Obamacare purports to cover everything, it doesn’t matter. The Census already gathers our statistical data.

      • laura r

what if you are black & eat natural foods? not all blacks are fried chicken ghetto down. what if you are white & eat crap? most people eat crap, its not about race. why would you think different ethnic groups eat differently. most folks get the mac donald, the dominos, the soda. its not racial or ethnic. how about your address? does that do a better demographic?

        • Bryan

Individual actions do not affect averages much.
Addresses (living locations) were part of the sarcastic article. People in the South (South-East by my definition) eat more fried food. You may notice there is not a ‘South American’ ethnic group which was part of the authors point. If you break down the Obamacare ethnicities/races equally, you will divide people so much that stats become useless.

    • 1stworlder

Cubans and other hildago Hispanics like Ted Cruz & the richest man in the world Carlos Slims throw off the numbers for the victimization and racism stories.

  • kasandra

This must be a parody from an old issue of the National Lampoon, right? I’d love to see the instructions for determining your race/ethnicity. Do they use the South African Population Registration Act (No. 30), the Virginia Racial Integrity Act, or the Nuremberg Laws as guides to defining one’s membership in a racial or ethnic group.

If Israelis move to Judea and convert to Buddhism are they still subhuman vermin according to the UN?

    • Lightbringer

LOL! My kids are of Scottish, Irish, Scotch-Irish, English, German, Choctaw, Cherokee, Ukrainian, and Polish ancestry. They are also 100% black-hat Litvish Yeshivish Orthodox Jews. Is there a box for them? Two of them are married to a pair of wonderful sisters, both of whom graduated from Bais Yaakov (strictly Orthodox Jewish girls schools), whose earliest American ancestors, including William Bradford, came over on the Mayflower. Is there a box for my grandchildren?

  • laura r

i couldnt fill that out. im sure they skipped over my options. i would need DNA test to straigten out the the west european, the east europeon, the semitic, the turkish, & what ever else is there. do they have an option for “other”??? i dont really want to have a “race”- its racist.

    • Lightbringer

I just fill in “other” and specify “human”.

  • 1stworlder

This is because they want to break down hidalgo Hispanics like Ted Cruz and the riches man in the world Carlos Slims, that earn enough to throw off the victimhood numbers of other Hispanics.

    • laura r

carlos slim is lebanese. not a mexican!
