Obama’s EPA Plotting to End 4th of July Fireworks

The EPA is starting to act like a James Bond villain. From raiding a guitar maker to trying to save the world from carbon to demanding control over all the water in the country, its antics are as ridiculous as they are creepy.

And now the Fourth of July, the very celebration of freedom, is being endangered by the EPA, the enemy of freedom.

While Americans get ready for the thousands of fireworks shows that will be occurring across the country this weekend, Republicans are warning that pending federal water regulations could ruin fireworks displays next year.

“If the proposed ‘waters of the United States’ rule becomes final and serves as the eventual basis for future citizen suits against those who organize fireworks shows, we fear fewer homeowners, communities, or local organizations will be able to conduct fireworks displays as they have for decades or longer,” wrote Republican Senators, including David Vitter of Louisiana and John Barrasso of Wyoming, in a letter to the EPA.

This isn’t just a theory. It’s already been taking place.

Environmentalists have already been using litigation to stop fireworks shows from happening near or over federally protected waters. In Lake Tahoe, California environmentalists sued the city, alleging their fireworks show violated the Clean Water Act.

Environmentalists said the fireworks show would result in the unpermitted discharge of pollutants into the lake. The lawsuit demanded that Lake Tahoe pay $37,500 per day in penalties for each violation of the Clean Water Act. Lake Tahoe officials nearly cancelled the show, but luckily for residents the city settled with environmentalists in April.

Like the race-baiters, the environmentalists sue and profit. This isn’t about the environment. It’s Green Banditry.

“Commemorative fireworks displays have been a part of our nation’s history since its founding. However, there are individuals and groups who would like to significantly limit this tradition through heavy-handed citizen suit litigation under the Clean Water Act and other laws,” Republicans added.

The environmentalists are part of the left and the left hates this nation, its freedom and its history.

It’s long past time for Republicans to campaign on freeing Americans from the tyranny of the EPA. EPA’s authority to issue regulations must be completely rescinded, turning it into an advisory body only.

    • truebearing

Destroy it completely and start all over, with strict scientific requirements and serious penalties for rigged data.

  • JackSpratt

It’s time the left faced some ‘live’ fireworks!

  • DogmaelJones1

The whole staff of the EPA and everyone of its environmentalist allies should be hog-tied and the best rocket’s-red-glare firework shoved up their butt holes.

    • CaoMoo

      I’d second that

      • DogmaelJones1

I’ll let you have the honor of lighting the fuses.

  • ObamaYoMoma

I predict this government over reach once it becomes more far reaching will back fire on the regulators.

    • Carlos_Perera

I hope you are right, but, alas, the last half-century of “overreach” by Leftist government in the U. S. gives me little hope that it will “backfire on the regulators.” Sure, every now and then they have to take a step backward in their long march through this country’s civil institutions, but, eventually, they take two steps forward to make up for their (temporary) setback. I’m afraid that if we want to bring the Left to heel, we need to do some hard yanking on their chain . . . and keep up the pull without respite; hoping for their self-destruction is a chimera.

I am not a fan of the EPA but there are some environmental issues with the specific propellants used in fireworks. Most propellants used are perchlorate salts of potassium and ammonium. The EPA and most states have regulated the concentration of perchlorate in drinking water to a low level through a drinking water advisory limit. Perchlorate is a military propellant that has contaminated a lot of groundwater in California. Perchlorate is also naturally produced and can be found in Chilean nitrate fertilizer and in specific areas in the US. Perchlorate is a thyroid inhibitor with chronic health consequences.
Perchlorate is expensive to remove from water.

The best plan is to find a better more environmentally friendly propellant.
Or use black power which is very dangerous to handlers of fireworks.

It also depends on what body of water the fireworks can potentially pollute.
Rivers should not be a problem but some lakes are.

The potential regulation of perchlorate in fireworks predates the Obama administration.

    • Thomas L. Stafford

Yes, and it should be stopped. The concentrations of perchlorate in water that would be required for it to be harmful are ridiculously high for fireworks to be a concern. This is especially true because most of the perchlorate is consumed in the fire. It is also a reactive (oxidizing) compound that would be readily reduced in the environment.

      • shinny_head

Not all of the perchlorate is consumed. But I do agree that the concentrations in most cases are not harmful. The regulation used is a drinking water advisory concentration limit which is a chronic toxicology metric. In most cases the water effected will never be processed for drinking water.

Perchlorate ClO4- is a completely oxidized salt of chlorine and can only be removed from environment by either burning, ion exchange, or reductive processes, others.

One common method for removing perchlorate from groundwater is a fluidized bed biological reactor. Perchlorate must be biologically removed near nitrate reduction under facultative anaerobic conditions. Therefore glucose or acetate must be added to the reactor as well.

Who knew that the alphabet would be SO dangerous? It’s way past time to ABOLISH the EPA, IRS, DHS, TSA, BLM, NDAA, DOJ, DOE(both), and take OUR country back! PERIOD!

A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots!

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but

not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might

live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or

to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might

live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a

check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not

to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that

was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from

owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty

F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but

not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make

you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is

    run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a

wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman

in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head

searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but

    is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions

of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his

teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class

in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation

that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more

government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with

Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free

cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses

    but is run by idiots.

If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to

provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment

checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was

diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation

that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest

big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a

wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government

forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself

makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the media panders to your openly socialist leader while the IRS targets groups with dissenting views— you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government ‘cracks down’ on legal gun sales to law abiding citizens while secretly supplying illegal guns to Mexican drug cartels— you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your local government (Chicago) outlawed gun ownership for ‘the safety of its citizens’ and now boasts the worst murder rate in the country — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

    What a country!

How about we give God a reason to continue blessing America?

So, now we have racial extortionists such mush mouthed Jesse Jackson and environmental extortionists led by the EPA. When are we the people going to stand up and say “ENOUGH”! The EPA needs to be immediately de-funded.

    • Drakken

It starts with you in your area saying enough is enough and taking action.

  • chiefg

OMG! When will these bastards be stopped?

  • Maria castro

Except for their nuts, I don’t think they will be able to get away with it.

  • TheGeneFactory

Time to just say No to EPA regulations.

  • Drakken

Time to deal with these environazis like they do from the area that I am from, miners and loggers no longer call law enforcement, they go in with pick ax handles swinging and don’t stop until they hit the home run. Funny thing is? Those very same envirowhacko’s never seem to come around after that.

  • Jonathan Grummer

Where’s the EPA headquartered Id like to $#!T all over there front door! EPA spelled backwards is APE.
