Pakistan Frees Daniel Pearl Kidnapper

It’s Pakistan. I’m just surprised that they haven’t given him a medal or elected him to higher office.

A suspected Islamic militant was charged in Pakistan with plotting to abduct Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was killed after his 2002 kidnapping in Karachi.

The suspect, Mohammed Hashim Qadeer, could be sentenced to death if convicted, a top police investigator said.

Qadeer is suspected of arranging the first meeting between Pearl and his abductors.

That was back in 2005. It took a while to extradite him and long to try him, but after a decade after the original killing, Mohammed is a free man.

A Pakistan anti-terrorism court has acquitted a co-accused in the 2002 murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl due to a lack of evidence, lawyers said on Friday.

Qari Hashim was arrested in 2005, three years after the main accused were convicted for the abduction and beheading of Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter.

The prosecution had no “valid witness in proving the role of my client in the Pearl case”, defense lawyer Sher Mohammad Leghari said.

Mohammeds gotta stick together. Mo’s before infidels. If only Mohammed had done something genuinely serious, like being a Christian woman who was accused of blasphemy, he would have been taken care of by now.
