Reminder: Most Gaza UNRWA Staff are Hamas Supporters

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

Mideast Gaza Segregating Schools

A little basic context for all the stories about UNRWA schools being shelled and rockets being found in UNRWA schools. There’s a perfectly good reason for that.

Most UNRWA employees in Gaza are local Hamas supporters.

Palestinians employed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the U.N.’s  main aid arm in Gaza, elected candidates affiliated with the terror group Hamas to 25 out of 27 seats on a union board that represents ten thousand UNRWA workers.

That’s not a big surprise to the UNRWA which knows quite well who runs things in Gaza.

Hansen said he believes there are Hamas members on UNRWA’s payroll, but they have to follow UN rules on remaining neutral.

“Oh I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll and I don’t see that as a crime. Hamas as a political organization does not mean that every member is a militant and we do not do political vetting and exclude people from one persuasion as against another,” Hanson told CBC TV.

“We demand of our staff, whatever their political persuasion is, that they behave in accordance with UN standards and norms for neutrality,” he said.

If you believe that UNRWA’s Hamas supporters remain neutral, you also believe in Vox’s Transisrael bridge.

The UNRWA in Gaza is an arm of Hamas.

Who knew? As Louis might have said: “I’m shocked! Shocked! There’s terrorism going on here!”

    • truebearing

“Round up the usual UN suspects.”

      • DogmaelJones1

        Good rejoinder.

  • Johnny Pallyswine

Here is a video of the BRITISH head of UNRWA Christopher Gunness crying like a baby for the fear that one day he will need to find a real job:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu3lYK6OmMI

Gazans voted for Hamas and Gunness has NEVER commented on the 8,000 rockets launched from Gaza since 2005 beyond the usual ” blablabla BUT blablabla….”

    • edlancey

If I were Chrissy I’d be more worried about finding myself swinging from a crane.

      • objectivefactsmatter

That’s why he’s actually crying. They’re telling him that he’s not whipping up enough support for poor victim HAMAS.

        • truebearing

They told him he had to volunteer as a human shield.

          • objectivefactsmatter

            That’s not implausible at all.

          • Webb

. . . and that the bathhouse just took a direct hit from a Hellfire.

      • Johnny Pallyswine

I hereby dub thee, on behalf of all Britannia, the ” Slimey Limey”.

    • DogmaelJones1

What a pathetic excuse for a human being!

  • Gee

Most of the employees of UNRWA are far more than Hamas supporters. Most are members of Hamas

  • truebearing

The UN is involved in this up to their corrupt, beady, little eyeballs.

    • Gee

Over 90% of the cement ordered in Gaza was paid for by UNRWA. Over 77% of the money to fund UNRWA came from the United States government.

      • Scott Mendelson

Dear Gee, Please pursue this further if you can, as it is extremely important. If UNRWA was paying for all of this concrete, then they surely knew where it was going. If they knew where it was going then they were actively supporting Hamas.

        • Nadzieja Batki

You got it and it is that simple.

  • Sam

If Hamas was the only thing between you an death, you would support them two.

    • objectivefactsmatter

      Er, no.

    • liz

That is rubbish. Hamas is the reason people are dying in Gaza to begin with. They are not protecting anybody – in fact they are using them as human shields. Get rid of Hamas and the dying will stop.

    • Nadzieja Batki

BS. You are denying that the palastinians are Hamas. The people who would not join Hamas have long gone, either killed or had to run away. Whatever is left are the palastinian human predators who are the Hamas.

  • Bernie

“We demand that they behave in accordance with UN standards”. That is one of the funniest lines I have heard in a long time. The UN and standards is an oxymoron. A dysfunctional organization hijacked by third world countries devoid of common decency and the rule of law.Hansens comments are beyond pathetic.

    • objectivefactsmatter

It’s diplospeak for submission to the UN’s will. Sound familiar?

  • Flame

It’s about time to start a petition to designate UN as a terrorist organisation.

    • Nadzieja Batki

What will a petition do, except waste time and paper.

  • ADamRant

All deaths on both sides are the fault of UNWRA.
UNWRA did not stop HAMAS from building munitions or tunnels.
Balance of forces = Yes. Balance of defenses =No.
Israel is using proportional forces in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
It’s using better defenses than Hamas.
Should it drop its defenses to get an equal body count? NO!

  • Hard Little Machine

Most UNRWA staff are in fact Hamas EMPLOYEES.

  • Webb

Twice every day a UN helicopter flies along the Lebanon border. The observer therein then sells info to Hez about where the IDF presence is thin along the fence so that plans can be made to breach the wire and enter Israel in search of victims to kidnap. The Druze troops are very well aware of this because they’re the ones who have to respond and kill Hez when they try it. The UN is the enemy of peace.

  • Nadzieja Batki

How is that a surprise that the Freaking UN favors Hamas.
