Russia Not Taking Chuck Hagel’s Phone Calls

Hagel

It’s really hard to decide whether John Kerry or Chuck Hagel will turn out to be the worst appointment this term.

Hagel is completely inept, a pathetic figure with ties to enemy countries, and John Kerry is all that, plus he’s John Kerry.

It’s so hard to decide. Meanwhile Russia is having fun not taking their phone calls.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has been unable to get Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on the phone amid escalating tension near the country’s shared border with Ukraine.

Mr. Shoigu announced Thursday that Russia planned to engage in a new series of military exercises near the Ukraine border. The military move, he said, is in response to ongoing NATO training exercises in Poland and the death of at least two pro-Russia insurgents in eastern Ukraine.

Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters Friday that Mr. Hagel has been trying to communicate with Russian officials but has yet to hear back from Mr. Shoigu or anyone else. Pentagon officials have reached out to Russia on Mr. Hagel’s behalf within the past 24 hours, according to Col. Warren.

“We have made it clear to the Russians that Secretary Hagel is available for a phone call at any time,” he said. “We have reached out to them and made it very to them that he is willing to speak to his counterpart there at any time.”

It’s bad enough that the Russians aren’t willing to talk to Hagel, announcements like these make the United States look weak and pathetic.

But that seems to be the Obama game plan. Destroy American power for good.

I’m guessing that Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu do not suffer fools. Can you blame them?

    • mindRider

Americans should not have suffered these fools by re-electing them in 2012

It was fools who reelected Obama. I’ve severed ties with people I know who voted for him twice, because after demonstrating to them during his first term how destructive he is, they just went ahead and voted for him again. I don’t suffer fools, either.

He even does Obama’s little bow.

I wouldn’t take them either – I get enough unsolicited garbage calls without having to talk to a spineless idiot.

And by the look on his face, possibly drunk.

    Chuck who?

  • Abberline

Besides being a border line anti-Semite, Hagel gave me the impression at his confirmation hearing as being an alcoholic. Socially he ia complete “reactionary” but teh Left gave him a pass and strongly backed him because of his anti-Semtism.

  • truebearing

This is all looking like political theater, with all of the bad actors representing characterless characters from the US. If this was a movie, the critics would slam the plot as totally lacking in believability.

An SOS that accuses Israel of apartheid in the middle of supposedly earnst peace negotiations? A SOD (in Hagel’s case it should be SODDEN) that looks, acts, and sounds so stupid that he appears to be drugged, drunk, or both? A president who goes to Malaysia, a Muslim country known for human rights abuses, and criticizes America for the same because a perverted Democrat racist made insulting remarks about blacks to his minority girlfriend? And then proceeds to assure an Imam that he will defend Muslims from abuses, asks the Imam to pray for him, and answers the Imam repeatedly with “Allah be willing.” Fiction can’t compete, nor can satire, and no nightmare can equal the Obama scourge.

Obama is doing all of this intentionally. No one is this incompetent or cowardly.

Well said! You just couldn’t make this up if you tried. So therefore it has to be on purpose.

    There’s nothing to be gained
by talking to Obama or Hegal. Putin already knows what Obama wants. He wants war. That’s why the State Department and CIA toppled the government. That’s why CIA Director John Brennan appeared in Kiev just one day before coup president Yatsenyuk ordered the first crackdown on pro Russian protestors in the East. It’s because Washington believes that a violent conflagration serves its greater interests. It’s pointless to talk to people like that, which is why Putin has stopped trying. Washington needs to draw Russian troops into the conflict to achieve its objectives.
