State Department Admits Libya has Become a Terrorist Safe Haven

I wonder whose fault that was. Must be the guy who kept boasting how he had beaten Al Qaeda and saved Detroit.

The State Department’s latest report on global terrorism, released Wednesday, lists Libya as a terrorist safe-haven for the second year in a row.

Two years? It’s like something happened very recently to turn Libya into a terrorist safe haven. Can’t be anything Bush did. He was painting dogs at the time.

“With a weak government possessing very few tools to exert control throughout its territory, Libya has become a terrorist safe haven and its transit routes are used by various terrorist groups, notably in the southwest and northeast,” says the 2013 Country Reports on Terrorism, released on Wednesday, April 30.

Three years ago, on March 19, 2011, President Obama unilaterally “authorized” the U.S. military to “begin a limited military action in Libya” to “protect Libyan civilians.” He said by intervening in Libya’s civil war, he was acting “in the interests of the United States and the world.”

The only time Obama has ever acted in the interests of the United States was when he resigned from the Senate.

Unfortunately he then took a step that was drastically against the interests of the United States by occupying the White House instead.

DG: I wonder whose fault that was.

Since all the major players in Congress from both political parties were enthusiastically in favor of the overthrow of the dictatorship of Muammar Gaddafi, the better question would be who isn’t directly or indirectly responsible for the situation in Libya today.

Israel – we refused to have anything to do with it

Let’s put it this way. Because of the unique geographical location and historical experience of Israel, it is far less likely for Israelis to be deceived by the emerging global threat of Islamic jihad.

We know that the “Enemy of my enemy” is usually our enemy as well

That’s an important lesson for all of us. There are really no absolutely trustworthy friends in international politics. In America we say, “In God We Trust”. Everyone else has a burden of proof.

Sounds like B Hussein O’s unilateral military action against Libya was supported by Congress but it was NOT. That’s another fact of law breaking by his regime and lies come out as a result.

Depends on how you define major players. If you mean the usual McCain-Graham team, then sure. But they didn’t make the decision.

      Obama did.

Plenty of House Republicans were unhappy with it. The House was arguably a repudiation.

        From the cited article:

The House refused to vote President Barack Obama the authority for U.S. military operations against Libya on Friday but stopped short of cutting off funds for the mission, a mixed
message reminiscent of congressional unease on Vietnam and more recent wars.

Obama made the decision to do it, but the House made the decision to pay for it. So it’s all Obama’s fault? I guess it depends on what you mean by “fault”.

A lot of Republicans were opposed, but of course John “Maverick” McCain was in favor, although he had been a Gaddafi supporter not long before.

Some would say the chickens have come home to roost. Obama’s ill-advised intervention in Libya later boomeranged in the Benghazi terror attack against U.S. consulate killing the ambassador and 3 others.

It’s not as if we did not see this coming. Western media and intelligence reports back then informed us that Jihadists form east Libya fought against Americans in Iraq. Other NATO supported Libyan rebels were linked with Al-Qaeda.
