The Benghazi Cover-Up Continues

Benghazi-GateA diplomatic mission was slapped down in the middle of a city controlled by terrorists. The diplomatic mission was left mostly undefended, despite multiple requests by everyone in Libya right up to the deceased ambassador, except by a militia gang linked to Al Qaeda which wasn’t getting paid.

At a time when the State Department was spending fortunes on bad art, on Kindles at the bargain price of $6,000 a reader, not to mention renovating the mansion residence of a political donor/ambassador in Europe who would be the subject of yet another cover-up after being accused of pedophilia (but not before causing a public scandal by blaming anti-Semitism on the Jews) there was no money for securing a diplomatic mission that was so far behind enemy lines it might as well have been in the middle of Iran.

And again it was no one’s fault. Despite multiple whistleblowers from the State Department coming forward, most of them left of center types who wouldn’t spit on a Koch Brother, the panels and committees wrote the establishment a blank check.

It was no one’s fault. Anyone who disagreed with the assertion that the murder of four Americans might be someone’s fault was a right-wing conspiracy theorist. Anyone who thought that we should listen to the testimony of Gregory Hicks, the highest ranking diplomat in Libya after Ambassador Stevens was killed, or to Ambassador Stevens’ own messages asking for more security, was a crazed nutjob.

Only a lunatic would think this might be someone’s fault.

“When I arrived in Tripoli on July 31, we had over 30 security personnel, from the State Department and the U.S. military, assigned to protect the diplomatic mission to Libya. All were under the ambassador’s authority,” Hicks wrote. “On Sept. 11, we had only nine diplomatic security agents under Chris’s authority to protect our diplomatic personnel in Tripoli and Benghazi.”

“For some reason, my explanation did not make it into the Senate report,” he added.

Now “for some reason” the testimony and statements of the CIA annex security team, the men on the ground like Mark Geist and Kris Paronto, did not make their way into the House Intel Committee report which once again exonerates everyone under its purview in true Washington fashion.

Was aid denied? Nope. Was there a lack of security? Maybe, but that’s a job for the State Department and State already concluded that it was the fault of three people whom it pretended to fire. The Senate committee concluded it was Ambassador Stevens’ fault despite his multiple requests for security because dead men don’t appear at committee hearings.

Was there a “stand down order”? Geist and Paronto say there was. The Housel Intel Committee however says that there was no stand down order; there were only “mere tactical disagreements about the speed with which the team should depart.”

Those “mere tactical disagreements” according to Paronto merely resulted in the death of Ambassador Stevens.

But the report insists there was no stand down order whatsoever, just “some Annex members wanted to urgently depart the Annex for the TMF to save their State Department colleagues.”

Gregory Hicks had stated that a team was prevented from heading to Benghazi. General Dempsey explained in his testimony that it was not told to “stand down”. It was told that it had a new mission of not going to Benghazi.

“They weren’t told to stand down. A `stand down’ means don’t do anything,” the General explained. “They were told that the mission they were asked to perform was not in Benghazi, but was at Tripoli airport.”

Orwell wept.

And so the idea that there was a “stand down order” has been conclusively and thoroughly disproven. Media Matters has splashed the news all over its front page. American lives might have been saved, but weren’t, because of “mere tactical disagreements” between doing something and doing nothing.

But don’t call it a “stand down order”. That might imply that a decision was made and that the giver of the order is responsible. And that someone above him might be responsible for setting a policy.

The House Intel Committee report, like all the reports before it, are full of such brilliant lawyerese, of technical explanations for why black is white, white is black and why none of it is anyone’s fault. The latest report insists that the administration was always aware that Benghazi was a terrorist attack and that Susan Rice was telling the truth when she claimed it wasn’t because she was misled by the CIA.

The administration was always telling the truth even when it wasn’t. Ambassador Stevens was responsible for the lack of security that killed him even while he kept pleading for more security. No personnel were told to stand down. They were just told not to go.

It’s all perfectly airtight by the standards of a political establishment in which one hand covers up for another, in which holding people in government responsible is a bad precedent. If blame has to be distributed, it can be dumped on the vague infrastructure of the CIA, on expendable diplomatic personnel and on a dead guy. And none of them will be held responsible either.

That’s just the magic of government.

We have an $18 trillion national debt which no one is responsible for. We have a fake unemployment rate of 6 percent and a real unemployment rate somewhere between 12 and 18 percent. And no one is responsible for that either. We have a terrorist group in Iraq that morphed into its own country and is executing Americans who could have been saved and no one is responsible for that.

Not anyone in our government.

We can go through numerous panels and committees that will humor us by pretending to care about the latest government scandal we’re outraged by and after going through the motions, they will announce that it’s no one’s fault.

It never is.

The Saudi visa express program that helped cause 9/11 was revived last year by Obama. The consular officer who issued visas to 11 of the hijackers despite numerous problems with their applications was not fired or demoted. Instead she still works for the State Department where she claims that “shopping” is her “great love” because it lets her snap up unique Middle Eastern items at “local prices.”

And the Senate continued to reconfirm her nomination because nothing is anyone’s fault.

There is simply no such thing as accountability in government. The incestuously corrupt culture of government insiders and the smug political reporters who eat out of their hands make that impossible. No matter how many whistleblowers come forward, how many of the men and women on the front lines tell their story, a group of lawyers with red pens will huddle over a report and use technicalities and word games to ignore the whistleblowers and exempt their government superiors from blame.

Washington can never allow any accountability for Benghazi because once we look closely at the murder of four Americans we might just have to start looking at the thousands of soldiers who died or were wounded in Afghanistan for many of the same reasons; including being denied support to avoid offending Muslims.

The media can never allow any accountability for Benghazi because the buck stops with their chosen presidential candidate for 2016.

Benghazi is the tip of a very nasty iceberg. The Libyan War was illegally fought and backed by lies that have never been addressed including false claims of genocide by Obama. That war has now resulted in ISIS in control of at least one Libyan city.

Benghazi is a political firewall. If the political establishment and the media can stop blame from being assigned here, they can permanently shut down these bigger questions. And if we can break their firewall, then the establishment will burn.

The ‘coverup’ is in the tools still trying to insist, after 9 full House investigations and nearing 50 million dollars worth of tax paid for fun and games, that THEY need MORE money and MORE time because THEY don’t agree with the facts and outcome of THEIR OWN investigation.

    • Rebel

the investigation cost less than one obama family vacation.. proceed

    • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

Look – that there was a cover-up has been established beyond all doubt. The only real questions now is who exactly was involved in it. Even there, it’s obvious someone at the White House insisted that those “talking points” be changed to deny the truth – that the siege was a pre-planned terrorist attack. And before we close down the investigation, we need to know exactly why no help was sent to our men there. Who made that decision? Obama? Panetta? Do you know? Or did they fail by default, by simply failing to act when they should have? That would make it plainly Obama’s fault.

  • Hank Rearden

Washington is going to be able to slow-walk the security arrangements in Benghazi until the Second Coming.

There is a simpler question, and the one that shocked us all…

WHY DIDN’T WE SEND THE CAVALRY?

I would speculate the President went to bed to rest up for Vegas and Valerie issued the executive order to stand down. After all, she shot down earlier opportunities to get Osama.

How dare anyone question the veracity and integrity of the House Intel Report, or of anyone who had anything to do with its wording? After all, there it is, a real document. with words printed on paper and composed in the most ambiguous and lawyerly language possible, written by people with college degrees and who pull down sumptuous salaries for being experts at saying nothing substantial. And, they’re all people with heart. They wouldn’t hurt a fly or hold anyone accountable because that might harm others. They don’t want to see anyone hurt. Truth is a hurtful thing, don’t you know? Lives and careers could be ruined; think of those people’s families, and pets, and credit card ratings, if the truth were told.

The authors of the House Intel Report are humanitarians. That’s what humanitarianism is all about, you see.

    • Sam Pyeatte

One thing for sure, General Dempsey is no General Patton. Deliberate inaction is a stand-down. The decision it take “inaction” was from the White House and State Department, inhabited by the biggest bunch of losers this country has ever had – firing squad material, for dereliction of duty.

As long as Mr. Conflict of Interest Mike Rogers was involved it was a given that this report would be, as Lindsey Graham put it, a piece of crap. The only hope for truth lies with Trey Gowdy’s committee. And that has the problem of Dem 5th columnists determined to sabotage anything that tarnishes the Obama Administration of Democrats in any way. Truth? What’s that? /s

I believe Daniel Greenfield that there was a cover up. I don’t understand why the Republican controlled House would cover up for Obama. Any thoughts?

I’ve been trying to figure that one out also. The Committee Chairman is Mike Rogers, who on the surface is no RINO. But perhaps he’s more Establishment than Conservative, and to the extent that Boehner appoints committee chairmen (a prerogative the Speaker should not have) he will obviously tend to appoint Establishment-men in his own mold.

Rogers is retiring and will be replaced with a new Republican in January, by the way.

Have you read this: http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2014/11/10/the-benghazi-brief-3/ ?

As I read it, the issue seems to be that the covert mission to arm Syrian “rebels” was vetted by both Democrats and Republicans, and that that mission remains classified, which means they can’t talk about it.

The thing that should make us really, really angry is that some of the Stingers given to what became ISIS wound up in Afghanistan, and were likely used to kill Americans, possibly including the ridiculous Seal Team Six mission, which many have plausibly claimed was betrayed..

John Boehner is in my view a coward, as are many of the senior Republican leaders, to put up with this crap. There has to be a way to get these things out in public.

  • Bert

Despite the leftist media and despite Obama’s clever campaign it was already clear in the 2008 election that he was unfit for office. The average voter already had enough information back then to realize that Obama had no business running for president. We did not have to know all the inside information which came out later to make an informed decision between John McCain and Obama. But something has gone very wrong with the majority of Americans. They chose fantasy over hard reality and wishful thinking over caution. It is too late to easily undo all the damage he has already done. Even we we try to change course now Obama has already locked us into a very dire future. Obama can also echo George Bush and declare ‘Allah Ackbar – Million Accomplished’ !!

What happened? There must be an inside story. After all the GOP controls the house and, I assume, had a majority on the committee. Does anyone know? Did the RINOs rear their heads?

  • edlancey

The IRS wasn’t a cover-up either. Oh no. It’s just that the first groups that were audited were all coincidentally Tea Party startups.

Ditto Fast and Furious, it was just random bad luck that those guns were used to kill Americans.

The AP scandal ? Check – just part of the new broom of audits and investigations.

Bergdahl ? Check – he was just the first of a series of Americans to be traded for high-value jihadis.

    • bigjulie

Sometime before Fast and Furious, Obama was caught expressing public assurance to Sarah Brady, who was complaining that not enough was being done to dry up the gun supplies that were legally arming Americans. He said words to the effect that, “A lot is going on under the radar that I can’t talk about right now!”
A few weeks later, Fast and Furious broke, but not in the way Obama had hoped. In my opinion, F&F was supposed to catch licensed gun dealers illegally selling weapons to anyone who had the money to buy and the intention to send them to drug gangs in Mexico. Of course, the evidence was being concocted but it was being done in a manner that, once accused, the gun dealers would not have any cover to back up what BATFE was asking them to do. Unfortunately for the Administration, the gun dealers were very cognizant of their lawful responsibilities and did not do what they were being asked to do without dependable legal cover. When one of the secreted weapons was implicated in the death of Border Patrol Agent Terry, the Fit hit the Shan and the original purpose, which was to catch licensed gun dealers in transactions that would cause them to lose their licenses, had to be abandoned in favor of dealing with a very awkward truth of how guns passed by the US to so-called “straw buyers” ended up in the hands of the drug dealers and were involved in the death of a Border Patrol Agent. Then, of course, we got the hastily constructed story about “tracing” the guns to drug dealers who would then be “caught” by the traces. The story was laughable and easily shot down by embarrassing truths which media quickly swept under the rug before too many dangling questions could be asked. Obama again looked like the coyote once again thwarted by the Roadrunner himself.
“Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here we are, stuck in the middle of trying to save our country” to modify a great popular song a little…This entire Administration was staffed to the gills with awkward clowns and befuddled know-nothings who were originally intended to allow Obama to constantly look like the “smartest guy in the room”, but because they did exactly what awkward clowns and befuddled know-nothings do, Obama ended up looking like the dean of the Befuddled Clown School!

  • truebearing

“And if we can break their firewall, then the establishment will burn.”

You shouldn’t say those kinds of things, Daniel. It upsets people when they are forced out of denial.

Benghazi was a factor in the hammering the Democrats took in the recent elections, but no TV pundit will ever say that. Millions of Americans know intuitively that the Left is desperate to erase Benghazi. They sense that considerable evil was perpetrated behind their “stupid” and “paranoid” backs. The media is goose stepping in lockstep with the administration’s lies because the truth will blow a hole in their revolution that can’t be patched. But why are Republicans — not all — going along with the lies?

The first thing to consider when Republicans act like Democrats is that maybe some of them are. The Leftocrats have put up fake Tea Party candidates as a means of winning elections. They concocted Dual Candidacy as a method of using Democratic voters to elect Communists…Obama was one of their first candidates, and look how far he has unfortunately gone. What would stop a group of devious, duplicitous, evil people who are obsessed with totalitarian power from infiltrating the Republican Party to sabotage it? Or maybe they have some information Rogers didn’t want out. Nothing is too low for the Left, and nothing is more important for narcissistic politicians than staying in the limelight. That makes the Left’s job pretty easy.

We know from the witnesses who were in Libya that orders were given to do nothing to help Stevens, Woods, Doherty, and Smith. They are the only witnesses and they all tell the same story. We know Obama was intent on arming the “rebels.” We know that because he did it officially, and continued to do it right into Syria, where he armed ISIS. Why would we assume he and Hillary weren’t arming the Islamists secretly as well?

Stevens was the point man for clandestine scheme to run weapons to Al Qaeda groups. Something went wrong and he was attacked. Perhaps it was an Islamist group in competition with those Stevens was arming that decided to put a stop to the arming of their rivals. There was a power struggle going on in Libya between Islamist groups, after all.

Obama and Hillary refused to send help because they didn’t want a witness that could tell the truth, especially with two presidential elections at stake. They hanged Stevens out to dry as the first attempt to erase Benghazi. Everything since then has been a footnote to that ugly truth.

If you look at Benghazi in its entirety, it is the Silencing of the Witnesses. First Stevens, then those who tried to save him. destroying witnesses is a key theme of the entire Obama presidency.

Now Media Matters will send Americana, or another one of their conscienceless dolts to FPM so they can accuse all of us of being paranoid conspiracy theorists…while David Brock cowers under a coffee table in fear of Right Wing snipers…more leftist projection…

House intel panel debunks many Benghazi theories
    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/ecc3a300383445d5a90dd6ca764c9e15/house-intel-panel-debunks-many-benghazi-theories

Here’s a fact that not a theory. The serial sociopathic lying Obamunists biggest ally is their like minded GOPE RINO enabling bastards in Congress!

So let me understand this. Basically Obama and Hillary get off scot-free despite the overwhelming testimony to the contrary from those who were there about NO SECURITY, NO HELP when begged for, and orders TO STAND DOWN when they wanted to help on their own which they ignored because Americans lives were on the line.

Is that about right? Sadly, it is as the gun running to the Al-Qaida allied factions is completely covered up to protect Obama and Hillary who hung four Americans out to dry at Benghazi!

PATHETIC and a stab in the back to all Americans in harm’s way who know that the leadership of their country and the purported opposition to that leadership doesn’t exist, i.e., THE FIX IS IN!

Where are you Gowdy? You had better get to the bottom of this travesty with a no holds barred report on the treachery of the Obamunists and their enablers to our military based on the first hand accounts of all those who were on the scene for the sake all those who serve in harm’s way, and to our country who have now seen Obama replace the former American dictum “We leave no one behind” with “You’re on your own, I don’t give a damn” – A Vietnam War Navy Vet

    ——————-

A PS from a Navy Brother-in-arms whom I served with during the Vietnam War in the Naval Security Group Command.

Blame for a whole host of issues lies in the lap of the ‘Intel Committee’. Benghazi is a big one, but so are other festering issues like vulnerability to the country’s infrastructure, reliance on Russian rocket motors in the launching US military satellites, lack of a means to get our own astronauts to the‘International’ space station, Ukrainian independence from Russia, Georgian independence from Russia, Japanese dependence on the dwindling US carrier fleet…..I could go on and on!

Look, I don’t know whether Barry’s documents are forged or not, but you need to understand why your campaign isn’t getting anywhere: even if they are forged, the bigger fraud is Barry himself, posing as a moderate while being in fact a radical Marxist. The bigger lies are the ones he tells the American people about being able to keep their health insurance, etc. No one really cares at this point if he wasn’t technically eligible for the office – the point is the damage he’s done while inside it.

    • sendtheclunkerbacktochicago

No you are dead wrong. Barry is guilty of felonies for crying out loud. Those felonies need to be dealt with as it would happen if it were a Republican. Who gives a crap whether or not he is a Communist / Marxist / Socialist what is more important is that he is a criminal and at this point Republicans and the Conservative Media is allowing him to get away with it. PERIOD!

      • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

I’m not looking to pick a fight, but do you really think felonies such as forgery, which I will concede arguendo occurred, are as significant as the non-criminal fraud of causing millions of Americans to lose their health insurance, or causing a second great depression leaving Americans suffering from lowered incomes and standards of living?

Common criminals do much less damage than criminal government. Perhaps Barry is guilty of both, but his terrible presidency has hurt more people than any of his alleged crimes could have.
