The Turks Hate Absolutely Everyone

Protesters burn a U.S. flag during a protest in front of the U.S Embassy in Ankara

But then again 73 percent of Turks also hate Russia. 70 percent of them hate NATO despite being part of it. 66 percent of them hate the EU despite wanting to be in it.

68 percent of them hate China. Why? 65 percent of them hate Brazil? What did Brazil do to them besides being non-Muslim?

It figures that a Sunni Muslim xenophobic country would really hate Israel and Iran.

The current Islamist government with its control of the media and constant propaganda can be blamed for some of this, but the best favorable the US ever had in Turkey was 30 percent.

None of the countries on the list even get a favorable rating. Saudi Arabia comes closest and by closest I mean that 56 percent of Turks hate it and 26 percent like it.

These are strangely xenophobic numbers even by Muslim standards. You get the feeling that if you made up a country, Turks would still rate it negatively.

For example, 65 percent of Brazil ranks the US favorably. Last year they ranked China as high as 65 percent. This year China tumbled to 44 percent.

Even China has a 50 percent favorable view of the US. It clocks in Russia at 66 percent and Brazil at 43 percent. Even the Russians like China and Brazil, and used to like the US before the recent war.

Even a nasty place like Pakistan will rate China favorably, even if it also hates everyone, including Brazil.

The Turks are somewhat unique in just randomly hating everyone.

Still Muslim countries tend to cluster around the bottom of country ratings, which means they seem to randomly give other countries negative ratings which is an indicator of high levels of xenophobia.

Some of Brazil’s regional neighbors rate it poorly, but overall the most negative ratings come from Turkey, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, the PLO Authority, Malaysia and Tunisia.

When it comes to irrational hatred of other countries, Islam is still the winner.

The Turks still think the Islamic Caliphate is rightfully theirs, and they want to eliminate all the competition …. with our help.

I think it’s an inherited inferiority complex. Turkey doesn’t have a reputation for having accomplished anything significant in its entire history, except for failed conquests and slaughtering Armenians and other minorities. Ataturk is noted for introducing secularism to Turkey, but then he participated in the Armenian genocide, so I don’t credit him with anything positive. The secularism didn’t stick in the cultural mindset of Turks. They still want to be Numero Uno.

My theory is that Brazil is famous for beautiful, sexy women, and the Turks hate Brazil because it’s too inaccessible for them to invade and rape. In other words, sour grapes is at work here.

It also says the Turks hate jihadist groups.

One wonders about the depth of their hatred. Is this just a negative criticality (such a word?) towards everything? I don’t remember meeting Turks that are virulent in their hatred as I do Arabs. Perhaps Ed Cline is right and this is the an inferiority complex being overcompensated.

Turks may hate jihadist groups, but they still support them. And if someone dares to criticize them for it (e.g. Biden) they’ll demand an apology for the slur.

I had my own exposure to Turkish hatred almost 40 years ago when I traveled through Turkey on the way to Iran. All it took was for one of the Turkish bus drivers to spot Hebrew lettering on a tin of food I was carrying to accuse me of being an Israeli, pointing at the Hebrew as “proof” of my perfidy. The return trip through Turkey was less eventful, but I’ve not returned since.

Hating others is the Turkish Delight.

When I was in the Air Force in the late 70s I met a Chief Master Sergeant who had been in the service for almost 30 years (he retired later that year) and been all around the world. He’d been stationed in places like Japan, The Philippines, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Germany and many other places. He said of all the places he’d been stationed at, the only one he hated was Turkey. He said Turks were the meanest, cruelest and most ignorant people he had ever met. He described them as disgusting in every way he could think off. He was able to avoid ever returning and he said he would have retired or possibly gone AWOL is they ever tried to send him back to that hellhole (his words). He became quite animated talking to us about what a miserable place Turkey was and how equally miserable the people were. I’ve never forgotten that rant, and it was not alcohol fueled. He was stone cold sober

My wife traveled to Turkey years ago before we were married. The company she worked for in Indonesia sent a group of employees there and to Europe. She thought Istanbul was interesting and liked the food but was terrified of the Turkish men, who she described as sexual predators. Her group always traveled together and their guides were all women. I’ll never let her go to any islamic majority country except Indonesia.

When I think of Turks I always think of Billy Hayes and “Midnight Express.” And how my Austrian friend described the Turks there, which was exactly the way your friend did.

Random Brits I’ve met describe “Pakis” the same way.

Is the first paragraph missing here? Because the second one implies a mention of the Turks hating someone else, presumably the U.S.

When mean Oliver Stone was right?

Turkish culture developed it’s predatory instinct and view of other peoples as livestock from centuries of wandering throughout Asia. Islam reinforced this characteristic. Also, Asia Minor where Turkey has established itself has an extensive pre-Turkish history and highly civilized non-Turkish populations. The fact that everywhere a Turk looks in Turkey, he sees evidence of non-Turkish heritage has to be chafing to him thus leading to the inferiority complex.

Turkey should be the seat of the global caliphate. The world robbed the Turks. Of course they’re angry at the world. Standing in the way of Allah and stuff.

According to the Justice and Development Party (AKP) an insulting cartoon of the “respected” President of Turkey is an insult to Islam and all Turks that incites hatred, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. It’s not as if the angels are lining up at the doorways of this crowd yet Erdogen sends one of his attack dogs. Woof!
