UN Appoints Muslim OIC Chair to Investigate Israel

I can’t imagine what his findings will be.

According to an exclusive report by the Geneva-based UN Watch monitoring group, diplomats report that the UN Human Rights Council president, under intense lobbying from Arab states, is planning to reject a U.S. academic who was vetted to become the next human rights monitor for the Palestinian territories, and instead give the high-level post this Friday to Indonesia’s former UN ambassador, Makarim Wibisono.

Despite a unanimous recommendation submitted to the president by the UNHRC’s 5-member vetting committee, Arab states have threatened to veto the appointment of Georgetown University law school lecturer Christina Cerna.

“The real issue is not the nominees, but the biased position itself,” said UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer. “This is the only council mandate that requires the examination not of a given region but of only one side, with the specific instruction to investigate ‘Israel’s violations of international law’ in the territories, while completely disregarding human rights abuses against women, Christians, and dissidents that are being committed by Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad or others.”

At the same time, UN Watch expressed “serious questions” about Wibisono’s satisfaction of the post’s objectivity requirement.

In addition to representing a government that rejects any official diplomatic relations with Israel, Wibisono went to Gaza in 2010 to meet with the leader of the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization.

He has accused Israel of “unconscionable use of force against the Palestinians,” “untenable acts of aggression,” and of having a “policy of retribution against the entire Palestinian nation.”

Wibisono has referred to the “stark and brutal nature of the policies pursued by the occupying power,” accused Israel of being “the aggressor and the perpetrator of wanton violence,” and repeatedly minimized Israeli suffering, speaking of “the handful of Israelis who have died,” and of Israel’s battle with rocket and other terrorist attacks as a “flimsy pretext.”

Wibisono openly embraces what he calls the “sacred Palestinian cause.”

So he can be counted to be impartial.

When we last encountered Makarim Wibisono, he was chairing an OIC session to fight defamation of Islam.

The United Nations Commission on Human Rights called on Tuesday for combating defamation of religions, especially Islam, and condemned discrimination against Muslims in the West’s war on terrorism.

The 53-member state forum adopted a resolution, presented by Pakistan on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), deploring the intensification of a “campaign of defamation” against Muslims following the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States.

The OIC resolution was adopted by a vote of 31 countries in favor and 16 against, with five abstentions and one delegation absent, Indonesia’s ambassador Makarim Wibisono, who chairs the annual six-week session, announced after the public vote.

He also played a role at Durban.

Israel and I need your help with this:
    The Israel Longhorn Project

Texas Longhorn cattle are cattle that fit and thrive in desert environments. This is
an educational, cattle-crossbreeding project that is helping Israel, Jordan and East Africa.

We will create a self-sustainable herd in Israel and then begin to help all of them with Texas Longhorn desert genetics and replacement cattle. So help bring these Texas Longhorns home to Israel.

And check out our new website and share it:

The Israel Longhorn Project, Robin Rosenblatt,
    Director – The Longhorn Project; Nonprofit 501(c) 3 #74-3177354;
    Tel: 650.631.9270 / 03.722.6108; Address: 815 Hill Street, # 5; Belmont, CA

How do you allow this? I know it is wrong don’t you?
These are the ranches in Israel we are helping

But of course. Could we expect anything else from the OIC-controlled UN? Wouldn’t want London to catch on fire or cars in Paris. No no. We must keep our alien colonizers happy for one day they will rule over us. Israel? eh, small price to pay. /sarc

  • Habbgun

I understand the UN what I don’t understand is why the nations still attend it. At least show some creativity. Maybe place two ferns on your desk as representatives and stay home.

  • Maynard

Is anyone surprised by this action? I think we need to disband the UN and turn the Problems over to the Girl Scouts of America. If you are nice they’ll give you a free box of Girl Scout Cookies.

  • American1969

I think it’s time we pulled out of the UN and told them to go find another piece of real estate. We could turn the building into low-rent housing.

    • CaoMoo

Make it a legal whore house it already is.

UN Watch is saying the Arab Group wants Chinkin.

  • Svengelska

Article 2 of the UN Charter states”Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorise the UN to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state”
Also consider the 1957 words of Ralph Garroway, former head of UNRWA, “ The Arab States do not want to solve the (Palestinian) refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as an affront to the United Nations and as a weapon against Israel. Arab leaders don’t give a damn whether the refugees live or die. UNWRA is meant to keep the Palestinian Refugee problem alive in perpetuity.”
The UN has now become a talking-shop for muslim states and their hangers-on. Every other country should withhold its financial contributions, as the USA has done in the past. That would make their (muslim states) eyes water.

They can appoint whoever they want…israel is here to stay!

What is happening in Israel is not a conflict between Arabs and Israelis. Instead it is a jihad being waged perpetually by the Islamic totalitarian world through their proxies the so-called Palestinians against the Jewish infidels in Israel to ultimately make Islam supreme and to render the Jewish infidels into harsh and degrading dhimmitude. Furthermore, the jihad being waged by the Islamic totalitarian world against the Jewish infidels in Israel is no different from the jihad being waged perpetually against the Hindu infidels in India, the Buddhist infidels in Thailand, the Chinese infidels in China, the orthodox Christian infidels in Chechnya, the Christian infidels and animists infidels in Sudan, the Christian infidels in Nigeria, and on and on ad nauseum. In other words, the UN just appointed the fox to investigate the hen house. Yeah right, I’m sure that will be a fair investigation.

The UN was a decent idea in 1946. Now it’s a circus, a theater of the absurd. And should be shut down

    • CaoMoo

It was never a good idea to begin with. The league of nations that was it’s predecessor was an abject failure and the UN had no chance to be anything but.

  • nopeacenow

It is the perfect job for Kerry when he retires as Secretary of State. With his history I am sure he will satisfy all the requirements for the position. Come to think of it so would Obama.

  • CaoMoo

Disband the UN and save the cash.

  • Mohammad Izzaterd

The US pays about 25% of the UN bill, more for other ‘spinoffs’ like UNRWA – the Pal refugee racket, UN Refugee Racket – dumping the Muslim and tribal scum of the earth into the 1st world, etc. The OIC packs the UN staff with Muslims, thereby packing NY with Muslims, easy immigration and settlement of the US, and then, wait for it, the UN (funded by the US) pays lucrative retirement packages for all these infiltrators. We guarantee that funding, just like we are funding and guaranteeing the loan for the UN’s new headquarters in NYC. it’s enough to make your head explode. Of course, all this ripping off from the UN, out of control immigration (lllegal, legal, refugee, asylum, ‘victims’ of crime’, ‘fear of going home’, you name it will grow and grow. And the fraud that is going on (immigrants running ghetto stores, and ‘home medical assistance’, etc are robbing the food stamp program, medicare, medicaid, ssi ssdi, tanf , sec8, minority/immigrant entrepreneur grants, and on and on. It’s in the billions, double digits. That’s right, over $10 billion, and that’s conservative. Who’s laughing? These immigrants who are robbing us blind. Who’s crying? I think that would be you.

  • objectivefactsmatter

The first thing we must check for is the sharia compliance metrics. We’ll see how that goes and report back.

  • objectivefactsmatter

The sad thing is that only something on the scale of another world war will be enough to wake people up to the delusion of relying on the UN to “keep the peace.” And in the future objective historians will see the strong role the UN played in enabling the likely aggressors of that next big war.

  • Name

An almost automatic muslim country majority vote = a corrupt system. As long as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia have a say in matters the UN is not a moral judge of ANYTHING.

  • Anukem Jihadi

What this really does is save OIC the trouble of investigating themselves.
