Unlike Libyan Jihadists and Mexican Drug Cartels, Obama Won’t “Break Law” to Provide Weapons to Kurds

Obama is all about following the law… when it gives him an excuse to not do what he doesn’t want to do anyway. The rest of the time he does whatever he wants and claim it’s because Congress isn’t acting.

Smuggle weapons to Mexican drug cartels? He’s on it. Arm Libyan Jihadists? He got it done.

Arm the Kurds? Suddenly it’s against the law.

The law, much like Obama, seems to have come back from a long vacation just yesterday.

“There might not be a legal way for us to sell arms to the KRG [Kurdistan Regional Government],” Ollivant said. “The Kurds are finding out the hard way that there are huge structural barriers, totally independent of policy, being a sub-state unit.”

Though the Kurds have their own government and operate in a functionally autonomous region of northern Iraq, they still belong to the Iraqi state and are nominally accountable to the government in Baghdad. They have long advocated for full independence and the creation of their own sovereign state, but the U.S. has refused to back those efforts.

To get arms legally to the Kurds now, the U.S. military needs to send them through the central government in Baghdad.

“Foreign Military Sales and Foreign Military Financing must be coordinated with central government authorities,” said Cmdr. Smith, the Defense Department spokeswoman.

Sure, sure.

Just like arms to Libyan Jihadists were coordinated through Gaddafi. And Obama has gotten behind providing weapons to Muslim Brotherhood Jihadists in Syria… without running it past Assad.

If Obama needs inspiration, he can just pretend that the Kurds are law school students and the guns are birth control and Al Qaeda is Hobby Lobby.

But apparently we are providing munitions to the Kurds, while still insisting that weapons have to go through Baghdad. Even while Obama keeps pressuring the government in Baghdad to make concessions to the Sunnis, he’s also pressuring the Kurds to make concessions to Baghdad.

It’s not surprising that ISIS is winning.

Maybe Israel should sell the Kurds some of the many surplus tons of captured weapons and tanks. Bet they would be a match for anything the ISIL has.

Obama would try to sanction them for violating international law and try to score some points.

Obama’s thinking — if you wish to call it that — has the logic of a pretzel, or a Möbius
strip. Figure it out at the risk of chopping about 50 points from your IQ.

Obama doesn’t want to support the Kurds because he’s in the tank for IS(IS) and the MB – and he doesn’t give a damn about the Christians or the Yezidis.

“There might not be a legal way for us to sell arms to the KRG”

We did not sell arms to the Afghan when they were fighting the Soviets in the 21980s.

The lethal and non-lethal aid that went to the FSA was given not sold.

All the sudden Obama et al are all the sudden parsimonious with the checkbook?

These m_______ckers do not want to tie one hand behind the backs of the Kurds. They want to hog tie them!

I would rather sell them the equipment than give it to them, but to start the ball rolling I say give it to them.

What about all of the international laws ISIS is breaking? Where is Obama’s precious UN? Are they all tuckered out from feigning moral outrage over Israel defending itself from genocidal nutjobs? Why aren’t they living up their charter?

Is there some secret international law that says an American president must side with evil? Once again, Obama’s words are burdened with the weight of self-contradiction. He has no compunctions against violating laws. The only value he places in laws are the excuses they afford him.

Sooner or later it seems anti-Jihad will be through Kickstarter. Since governments won’t defend against jihadists then the private sector will. Sounds strange but that is how Islam was defeated in the Middle ages and that is how the Islamists build their armies. The oil is out there. It is just a matter of picking it off because that is what will pay for protection. If the government doesn’t like it, maybe it can do its job.

Since when has the law stopped the tyrannical Obama from doing what he really wants to do? …Open borders, suspending parts of Obamacare etc
What happened to his pen and phone to issue executive orders?

It’s ok to send money to the Palestinians for supposedly humanitarian aid even though that money will be used to fund Hamas tyranny and to send military equipment to those fighting Assad in Syria even though they are radical Islamists (ISIS) who are killing Christians and are now killing non-Sunnis in Iraq but not ok to help our friends, the Kurds? Makes perfect sense to me. Not!!!! This is what happens when a POTUS has no moral scruples.
