US Gave $232,000 to Group Providing “Non-Violence” Training to Hamas

No this isn’t a joke. Or maybe all of it is one horrifying insane joke. That would probably explain a whole lot.

In a recent report, NGO Monitor revealed that the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a non-profit funded largely by the U.S. Congress (i.e. American taxpayers), gave approximately $232,000 to the Holy Land Trust (HLT) between 2006 and 2012.  A search of NED’s website confirms that it has given multiple grants to the organization.

HLT is a Bethlehem-based “peacemaking” organization whose leader, Sami Awad, has stated publicly that his organization has given training in non-violence to Hamas and other militant groups in Palestinian society.

He did it in a speech he gave at the National Leadership Conference for the Vinyard Church in Galveston, Texas in 2009. “[W]e’ve actually done training in non-violence for Hamas leaders and other militant groups as well,” he told the audience.

It’s safe to say that the ‘non-violence’ training isn’t working too well. But at least more taxpayer money is being spent well on teaching terrorist leaders to be non-violent. And it’s not like we were using that $232,000 anyway.

It’s better off in the hands of a terrorism advocate.

Vis a vis the 2006 electoral victory that gave Hamas a leading role in the Palestinian Authority government, Awad said: “The victory of Hamas happened in a fair and democratic election.” He chastised Israel and “the international community” for boycotting the triumphant Hamas and thereby allegedly missing a golden “opportunity” to negotiate for peace with the organization whose raison d’etre is to bring about Israel’s ultimate annihilation.

Democracy. You’re doing it wrong.

  • Gee

I do believe that since it is against American law to support terrorist organizations (yes Hamas is on the list) is a crime making those people war criminals

We would have to have an administration that actually believes in enforcing those laws.

Of course the elections that put Hamas in power were “fair and democratic”. Even North Korea has “fair and democratic” elections. It just all depends on how you define fair and democratic. Just ask any leftist about those definitions.

USAID and the State Department gives Billions to Hamas/Gaza under Hitlery/Lurch. This is just another stream of funding.

I suggest that the way to teach terrorists to be non-violent is by defeating them so thoroughly that they no longer have any war-making capabilities whatsoever.

It’s hard for me to believe that anyone is really that stupid. Where were the trainers to keep us out of WWII? They have new “scientific methods” for transforming ideological enemies in to “rational actors?”

  • Hard Little Machine

Should have spent the money on sending them Ebola
