Walt Disney, Unlike Emma Thompson, Didn’t Support a Child Rapist

o-SAVINF-MR-BANKS-REVIEW-facebook

If you were browsing news sites yesterday, you may have come across Meryl Streep’s rant about what a racist Nazi anti-Semite that Walt Disney was and what an amazing human being Emma Thompson is.

It’s easy to take shots at a dead man, but Walt Disney’s character was framed by angry left-wing union members in a town where mildly conservative politics led to cries of “Fascist”.

The evidence that Walt Disney ever supported the Third Reich is flimsy and hearsay. There’s far more evidence that his critics supported the USSR.

And the evidence for Walt Disney’s bigotry, by the standards of the day, is also less than overwhelming. That said, if Walt Disney was an anti-Semite that was a flaw that he had in common with Emma Thompson who demanded a boycott of an Israeli Jewish theater in the UK expressing her dismay that the Semitic performers would befoul a Shakespeare festival.

I don’t recall Walt Disney ever organizing a boycott of a Jewish theater. That makes him less of an anti-Semite than Emma Thompson.

Something else that Walt Disney didn’t do was support the rapist of a 13-year old girl, the way that Emma Thompson did when she signed a pro-Roman Polanski petition.

The petition dismissively described the charges against Polanski for drugging and then anally raping a 13-year-old girl as “a case of morals” dating back from 1978. “We demand the immediate release of Roman Polanski,” the petition concluded.

Emma Thompson eventually was talked out of keeping her name on the petition, but it didn’t stop her from signing it.

Things Emma Thompson supports; child rapists. Things Emma Thompson opposes; Israel.

That puts Walt Disney ahead of Emma Thompson in the “Not an awful person” race. And it goes without saying that Walt Disney is well ahead of her already in the talent race considering that Thompson’s accomplishment in life consists of playing Brits in American movies.

  • Gee

Funny how the leftists can be holier than thou and be even worse than the people that they excoriate

    • Daniel Greenfield

that’s usually why they excoriate them

  • Dana Garcia

If Disney was such a bad person, why didn’t Streep criticize her pal Thompson for appearing in a film about him?

HollyLibs can’t even think through their own arguments.

    • Daniel Greenfield

They take the cash and bash their employers. It’s a grand Hollywood lefty tradition.

      • DB1954

Indeed it is so. Not long after Walt Disney passed to a better world and the Florida theme park opened, I worked there while attending college. Lots of gay employees. If there was any anti-gay discrimination I certainly never saw it. In fact, as I recall, I was beginning to wonder if it was a requirement for a management or an upward bound position there to be gay or lesbian. Anyway, that Uncle Walt had been some kind of gay bashing, neo-Nasty, “right wing” troglodyte, was not only the buzz, it was held as Gospel truth in some quarters. Yeah, I remember those rumors and the people who were telling them.

Disney was a much more successful person than either Streep or Thompson. His creativity brought more joy to people and families than any bitter, judgmental and hateful liberal actor has ever done.

Streep targets the ‘successful light-skinned male’ thinking she has the moral high ground while uplifting her own gender. Some of this may also be prepping the ground for the ‘woman’ presidential candidate in 2016.

Sexism by women will be in spades over the next two years.

    • DB1954

      Good question.

I read Emma Thompsons filmography. I had to read it. I have heard the name as a sort of background buzz, but I could not think of any works she had done.

She was in “I Am Legend” in an uncredited role. That is she is completely replaceable with someone of equal or better talent. She has a recurring role in Harry Potter. I bet if another actress had got the role, no fans would have noticed.

This actress comes will all this immoral baggage and nothing to compensate for it.

    • Daniel Greenfield

She’s another of those UK actors who pretend to be serious theater people, but who really make their money appearing in US movies.

      • A Z

Like many others I have found the Rotten Tomatoes , Meta Critic & IMdB websites. I have also seen so many movies that there is nothing really new. I will still watch movies because story telling is as old as mankind. I love archetypes, good versus evil story lines, etc.

I have also in the past vehemently disagreed with critics take on movies. They are forever panning popular movies. Still I am reading more movie reviews and trying to learn about the critic’s reasoning and how Hollywood and acting works.

If Jessica Lange can testify before congress on farming than I learn about acting. More people I believe are looking into this. The internet makes it so easy. So my point is that actors had better get their stuff together. They are gong to be held to a higher standard than before.

There are so many movies coming out each year and such an accumulation of movies and other media that we can be very selective.

        • Daniel Greenfield

Hollywood is heading for a bust and a reconstruction under multinational ownership.

The movie as we know it may only survive in the indies.

      • Michael Garfield

Please, keep your insults for her views, and not the usual ‘ugly American’ view of people from the UK which involves making the same kind of dumb statements that you criticise Thomson for – i.e. they’re from the UK therefore I’ll spout all kinds of stereotypical views I have of ‘Brits’. Yawn. Then again, the fact that those stereotypes are fantastical bull***t that are, frankly, untrue just about sums up those who spout such bilge. So do most Americans sport a ten gallon hat, a pair of Colt 45s and shout ‘Yeehaw! Hoowdy pardner!!’? No, I don’t suppose they do.

I’m English and I can’t stand Thomson – not the actress but the lefty aspect of her character. It’s a criticism I’d make of her irrespective of where she came from, and wouldn’t make her nationality an issue.

        • Daniel Greenfield

This wasn’t about views of people from the UK, but the colony of British theater people in Hollywood who are invariably left wing and pretend to be serious actors even as they’re appearing in comic book movies.

seems Jewish organizations want to boycott the movie due
    to Ms Thompson’s anti-Semitism:

    Major
Jewish American Organization Calls To Boycott Saving Mr. Banks’

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has condemned
actress Emma Thompson and three dozen other British actors, for seeking the
boycotting of Israel’s celebrated Habima Theater troupe, which is to perform
later this year in a six-week theatrical festival taking place at Shakespeare’s
Globe Theatre in London. Thompson and her colleagues cite spurious human rights
concerns but hypocritically fail to call for a boycott of the National Theater
of China, which is participating in the same festival. The ZOA has condemned
Thompson and urged people to boycott her recently-released movie, Saving Mr.
    Banks.

Walt Disney came up with the Eagle Squadron’s Boxing Eagle Art and later personally painted the Nose Art for Don Gentile’s P-51B “Shangri-La.” Disney opposed the Nazis before opposing them was cool with American commies. Like their pal ‘uncle joe,’ American commies didn’t oppose the Nazis until after hitler attacked the soviet union.
It doesn’t take a millisecond to see who made the greater contribution to the USA and the world, streep and Thompson, or Disney.

  • Trapper

In order for the Left to win, decency must be destroyed. Hence the attacks on Walt Disney.

  • milst1

Of course Disney was not an anti-Semite. At worst, he was furious with the Jewish cartoonists who led a strike against the studio in the early 1940′s, after Walt broke a promise about profit-sharing he had made during the production of “Snow White”. Walt was vehemently anti-Union from that point on. But Streep’s demonization of Disney is no less absurd than this site’s ridiculous demonization of liberals.

    • milst1

Whoops, I meant “no more absurd”.

  • http://atlantarofters.blogspot.com The Sanity Inspector

BTW, Saving Mr. Banks is a fine film, just leave the politics at the door.

  • Crassus

The Left hates Disney because he vigorously fought the infiltration of Communists into Hollywood labor unions. Same reason they hated Ronald Reagan at the time.

  • mackykam

Problem with Hollywood actors: Think they can act, ergo, think they can think. If they were smart enough to think they wouldn’t be actors, trying on other characters to become a somebody.

  • DB1954

I never cease to amaze how these liberal Hollywood types like Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson are so enamored with their own ill-informed opinions on matters so totally outside their orbit. Meryl Streep waxes ponderously about the great white ogre and boogeyman, Walt Disney, a man who has been dead for 40 years. She talks as if she had personally witnessed Disney’s participation in a Ku Klux Klan rally. As for Streep’s praise for Emma Thompson, Frontpage Mag has probably already said it here. For what it’s worth, it seems like the more Streep bashes this or that person, the more it reveals how little she knows about the person she bashes; conversely, the more praise she heaps on twits like Thompson, the more Streep reveals just how inconsequential that twit is.

  • Carabec

Thanks, I am no longer disappointed in Mr. Disney. There are always two sides to every story..

  • darnellecheri

I’ve grown weary of pretentious actors. It is amazing to sit back and watch how fame blows egos into gigantic monsters. For me, the only memorable role Streep played was the German wife to James Woods Jewish character in the 1970s TV series, “Holocaust.” Both she and Woods were quite moving, and to a teenage girl, they were unforgettable in those roles.

  • TarzanJane

I believe this Rant was obviously, very carefully crafted, planned campaign tactic and orchestrated by Zionist Media in concert with all the numerous highly funded Zionist foundations who support Israel at any cost,,, and wish to boycott Emma Thompson. Streep was chosen, a non Jew could better deliver this hate fueled unfounded libelous rant to keep the association separate and destroy hopes for this movie awards and punish Emma for her support of BDS movement. This did not happen by accident, or off the cuff remark.

  • Mark Choi

What a load of complete and utter nonsense. Funny that you should rail against drawing baseless conclusions about Disney, and then proceed to rant with not a shred of evidence, and more than a little hyperbole, not to mention just about every logical fallacy in the book, about everyone on the opposite side.
    Hypocrite much?
