WaPo Bipartisan Compromise: “Kill the Elderly, Raise Taxes and Legalize Illegal Aliens”

old-lady-thrown-off-cliff-cropped-proto-custom_28

Finally a liberal comes up with a sensible compromise that can bring Republicans and Democrats together. The Dems will offer to cut benefits for the elderly and the Repubs will agree to high taxes and open borders.

What’s not to like about this amazing Washington Post mediated compromise?

“What’s needed is a bargain in which Democrats trim retiree benefits (Social Security and Medicare) and, in exchange, Republicans deal forthrightly on immigration and taxes.”

Come on guys, we’ll help you push grandma off the cliff and you turn America into Mexico and raise taxes to pay for the glut of social services that our new Mexifornians will need.

How can you say no? Did you hear that liberals are throwing in dead grandmas into the bargain?

America is changing Robert Samuelson says.

In 1960, 85 percent of Americans were white and 10 percent were black. Now, 63 percent are white, 13 percent black, 17 percent Hispanic and 5 percent Asian. In 2050, those shares are projected to be 47 percent white, 13 percent black, 28 percent Hispanic and 8 percent Asian.

Second, family breakdown. In 2011, unmarried women accounted for 41 percent of U.S. births, up from 5 percent in 1960. The trend affects all major groups. The rate is 29 percent for whites, 53 percent among Hispanics and 72 percent among African Americans.

Sure. 29 percent to 72 percent. That trend certainly affects everyone. Also the elderly will retire and that 72 percent is going to need a whole lot of spending that would go to Grandma and Grandpa Boomer, who unlike the 4,000 gangbangers from the ghetto and their baby mamas and their offspring actually paid into the system.

There’s no generational justice, argues Taylor: “The young today are paying taxes to support a level of benefits for the old that they themselves have no prospect of receiving when they become old.”

Who are we kidding here? The 53 percent in 2050 is going to be taking more out of the system than it’s going to be putting back in.

Obviously I’m never going to see the money I’m paying into Social Security, but then again no one is because politicians have been raiding it all along to fund their latest social justice projects.

Now imagine a country in which Obama is the default and the candidates compete over how high to raise taxes, the middle class is composed entirely of government employees and no one has any money and the country has no credit rating or savings.

If I make it to 2050, non-existent Social Security will be the least of my problems or the country’s problems.

Liberals won’t come to terms with aging. Believing that spending on the elderly and near-elderly constitutes the essence of progressivism — and ignoring the affluence of many elderly — some liberals even support raising these benefits. The paradoxical result is that the pro-government party has become an instrument of anti-government policies, because accommodating all the elderly’s benefits means quietly condoning deep cuts in most other programs.

Conservatives have parallel hang-ups. They can’t adapt to the permanence of Big Government or the presence of so many immigrants, including an estimated 11 million who are here illegally. Even if unworthy government programs are cut, federal spending will easily exceed one-fifth of national income, which is more than today’s taxes will cover. Higher taxes, contrary to GOP dogma, will be needed. Similarly, illegal immigrants won’t conveniently vanish.

Fortunately for Bob, leftists have no hangups about killing grandma. That’s part of what ObamaCare is for. Medicare Advantage cuts, medical device taxes and that will be followed by escalating payment modifications to make caring for the elderly about as unprofitable as possible. And the elderly will then be told that the only way to get care is to pressure their politicians to vote Single Payer.

And then the hammer will really come down.

  • Wolfthatknowsall

When the government tells me … or grandma … that we no longer have the right to live, then we are absolved of any allegiance to said government. Remember that among many of us elderly are combat veterans …

    • Geoffrey_Britain

Incrementalism my friend. The old frog in the hot water trick. By the time outrage hits, it will be far too late. The MSM, AARP, etc. will keep most in the dark until its a done deal.

      • Wolfthatknowsall

I understand what you’re saying. That means I keep my skills current …

  • wileyvet

Well Grandpa Harry Reid and Grandma Nancy Pelosi can be the first to go.

    • Geoffrey_Britain

Come on, you know that the rich leftist/liberal has an exemption…

  • sydchaden

Robert Reich, long-time adviser to Democrat Presidents, made the Democrats’ plans for the old folks clear, in his speech at the University of California at Berkeley, Reich told the audience that, the USA is no longer going to pay to keep the elderly alive for a few more months, “we’re going to let them die”. The faculty and students cheered wildly.. Presumably, there were no old folks present. If there were, and if they expressed their disagreement, they were undoubtedly shouted down, in the truest tradition of Academia.

My grandmother got breast cancer in her 60 or 70s. She lived another 2 or 3 decades. The Democrats would hand her a blue pill and would have sternly recommended that she take it.

I guess it is more politically correct to get breast cancer in your 30s or 40s and then to spill a lot of ink about it.

A person getting breast cancer after 60 could have cost society (or any group plan) less up until that point than a person getting breast cancer at age 30 and goes onto get further ailments. So the person getting cancer after 60 is worth less over a lifetime than a person who gets cancer at 30?

In a DEmocrat world they are.

    • NJK

I assume those cheering didn’t have any elderly parents or grandparents? Or did they think their families wouldn’t be included?

For the first time in my life, I’m ashamed I live in a country that would let this happen. It’s not only the left, it’s those who let them. What ugly people. They are trying to play God.

  • Geoffrey_Britain

“Kill the Elderly, Raise Taxes and Legalize Illegal Aliens”

An absolutely brilliant encapsulation of the left’s policies.

  • William Fisher

I’ve said it before on this site and I’ll say it again. If Obama doesn’t finish the job of ruining any resemblance of America, Hillary will. This is outragous! One of many outrages covered daily by Frontpage Mag.

    • Wolfthatknowsall

Hillary is … by far … the more radical of the two, although she hides behind a veil of “centrism”, just like her husband. By comparison, her history makes FDR look like a right-leaning moderate. She must be denied the White House.

The easiest thing in the world to do is to kick the can down the road on Social Security. Raise the retirement age by 1 year for people under 50 and phase it in over 1 to 5 years.

It is a 1/2 measure, but it will buy sometime to deal with other things.

Is the Demoncat Party unwilling to do this unless Republicans cave in and give them everything and the kitchen sink

    • Geoffrey_Britain

Raising the retirement age by 1 year for people under 50 and phasing it in over 1 to 5 years is a start but does not address why democrats want to kill the elderly. They want to “kill the elderly” to make socialized healthcare work. As Lenin pointed out, “Socialized medicine is the keystone of the socialist State”.

They want to raise taxes to pay for that socialized state, conveniently ignoring that Europe can’t pay for a socialized state even when America provides for their defense.

And democrats want to Legalize Illegal Aliens so as to create 11-33 MILLION “undocumented democrats”, so as to ensure permanent one-party rule in America.

      • A Z

        Democrats are just plain dumb.

Given a good environment I have seen people in the 60s, 70s and maybe their 80s work roofing on steep church roofs and on hot tar roofs.

Of course you are talking hardy fly over country folk.

        • Geoffrey_Britain

It is not stupidity but flawed premises (assumptions) arising out of a juvenile rejection of a fundamental aspect of reality. In short, liberals never get over the juvenile protest “that’s not fair!”. Of course we don’t live in a universe of fair but of consequence and necessity.

All ‘isms’ of the left, to one degree or another, reject reality. Denial of reality leads to flawed assumptions about life and flawed assumptions lead to flawed solutions.

Once you reject reality however, facts, reason and logic are just ‘inconvenient truths’.

Tie that all together with Heinlein’s observation that, “Man is not a rational animal, he is a rationalizing animal” and democrat’s apparent ‘stupidity’ and their denial of the intellectual bankruptcy they cling to, becomes understandable.

          • A Z

It is not stupidity but flawed premises (assumptions) arising out of a juvenile rejection of a fundamental aspect of reality.

            Concise! Nicely said.

You start with the wrong premises and logic will drive you into a trap, unless you notice contradictions and want to rethink things.

          • Geoffrey_Britain

It takes an exceptional human being to ‘rethink’ things, when to do so requires questioning a fundamental and long held viewpoint. When reality itself is involved, even less can make the transition.

The left has played upon and twisted, the typical liberal rejection of reality’s absolutely necessary and essential ‘unfairness’… into an unquestioning acceptance of the left’s memes and narrative. Doing so through the schools and media. Thus the resistance of the leftist indoctrinated, liberal low-info voter.

      • A Z

My first thought in replying to you was to think of Robert Henlein’s Crazy Years. I thought we had avoided it. Apparently not.

      • truebearing

Killing the elderly is typical of how the Left deals with problematic segments of the population. All problems are solved with procrustean method. The Left sees any given nation’s population like a side of beef that must fit into an inadequate freezer. Lop off this group, chop off that, until the population fits the rigid box. Individual lives mean nothing, even when there are millions of individuals that must be severed from the body politic. It’s all cold, ruthless, and supremely sociopathic.

    • BagLady

Or you could redirect some of that $1 trillion that’s going, both directly and indirectly, to the Petagon’s budget this year.

      • A Z

        Lindisfarne

  • Pamela

The majority of U.S. elderly are white. Liberals hate white people, and want to eliminate them, as fast as possible, and stupid white people keep voting for them.

    • NJK

My spouses father is exactly what you’re referring to. Votes Democrat consistently. He may need surgery down the road, and my spouse said, I hope you get it. He had no clue what’s going on. I told him, I hope he doesn’t get it for what he’s done to this country with his ignorance.

      • The March Hare

What irony! “I’m going to vote democrat even if it kills me”.

  • seewithyourowneyes

The Left has a new slogan for this species of one-sided “compromise.” I’ve heard it recently in the mouths of everyone from politicians to Madonna. It goes like this: “It’s time we time we all rise above ideology and just do what’s right.” But “doing what’s right” turns out to be nothing less than obedience to Leftist ideology.

  • NJK

I hope John Robert’s mother is on Medicare.

  • http://PrimordialSlack.com/ Joan Of Argghh!

The whole reason for including birth control and abortions in every mandate is to run religious hospitals out of business, thus assuring a shortage crisis that the government will have to rescue. The “audacity” was in creating the placeholders of people, departments, bureaucracies, oversights, extra IRS and DHS personnel, flooding the ideological battlefield with footlings who stand around waiting for their job to start. The Obamacare website is nothing but another placeholder for Single Payer. They don’t care if it works yet, it’s there so that it can never go away.

It won’t matter if we elect another Reagan. The Horde has found its seat at the trough.

    • The March Hare

And the republicans never do anything to undo what the democrats do, so it just keeps building up. This is the worst growth of the bureaucracy in our history. If the republicans get in control in 2106 they better start undoing all this crap. They always promise to get rid of some of these departments, but the electorate always ends up giving us divided government making it impossible to get that sort of thing done. They think divided government is good since it keeps each side in check. Well, when the republicans finally did get control they did nothing to dismantle the mess while the democrats smeared and demonized the republicans and ended up getting control back and then continued their progressive agenda.

          • Wolfthatknowsall

Since you seem to know everything … and Daniel knows nothing … is your first name Barack?

So, I’ll quote your magnificent mind from two years ago and warn people, concerning you, “Don’t feed the Troll!”

          • https://www.facebook.com/IamRobertheMan Anunnakian A Messenger

LOL, Ok, I will respond, this is right wing racist fear crap, no more no less, everything changes nothing remains the same you can roll with or be rolled over by it. what we are seeing now is the death throes of the GOP and the speech of the death rattle. As far as the funding of whatever go’s there is wealth beyond compare here and worldwide, there is also greed beyond compare. So the solution is FAIR system of wealth distribution through a profit sharing law, wages tied to cost of living and empathy for all people and living thing and mother earth by the 1%ers (as they are called) To sum it up its call “Sharing and Caring” try it sometime. And have a nice Day.

          • Wolfthatknowsall

            Well …

Having looked back at your comments, over the years, I should feel honored to receive such a lengthy response, from you. I do appreciate it.

What makes you think that I don’t “share” or “care”?

First, I care about my country, and those who wish to destroy it. I’m a “nation-state” man, and America is my country. I fought … in uniform … for my country, and I’ve lost two sons in battle. I honor them, and greatly so.

Second, I share the wealth that life has given me. But I prefer to do my “sharing” on the local level, to needy and deserving people. I couldn’t give a rat’s … ahem … behind what their race is. If they need help, they get it, from me. I don’t want an all-powerful government doing my “sharing” for me, because I don’t know what they’re doing with my money. Your idea of a FAIR profit-sharing plan means nothing but pain, at the local level, among people who need help from individuals, but won’t get it.

Your “death-rattle” analogy is a little premature, for the GOP. As the Duke would say, “That’s been said before.”

Finally, I strongly disagree with your assessment of this website, or I wouldn’t be a commenter, here. I first became aware of David Horowitz with his book Hating Whitey, and other Progressive Causes. I kept aware of him ever since. It is a fact that the Left regularly and increasingly uses the race card, and David helped me become cognizant of this fact.

Once again, thanks for talking to me, and I find the graphic to be interesting. Not factual, but interesting, and clever. Did you create it?
