Welfare Weed: Berkeley Enacts Marijuana Redistribution for the Homeless

If there’s anything the homeless need, it’s free pot.  The welfare state is providing so much. It was bound to do some cannabis social justice since the plant is where it gets most of its ideas.

The city of Berkeley will require medical marijuana dispensaries to give away two percent of the amount of cannabis they sell each year free to low-income patients.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his high.

“Basically, the city council wants to make sure that low-income, homeless, indigent folks have access to their medical marijuana, their medicine,” said Berkeley City Councilmember Darryl Moore.

Free pot for the homeless. It’s a plan so great that it can’t possibly go wrong.

“We think this is the responsible thing to do for those less fortunate in our community,” said Moore.

It’s the most responsible thing to do since the free switchblades for the homeless and the free crack pipes for the homeless.

… and it must be the same quality that’s dispensed to regular paying customers.

Obviously. Give them the good Canadian stuff. You don’t want them getting paranoid.

The measure also revisits definitions for cannabis collectives and dispensaries, patients and caregivers, on top of setting new rules for hours of operation and the methods for testing cannabis and edibles.

This is what legalization means. No wonder the cartels aren’t going anywhere.

back on an old 1.8 Gig hard drive, i think i saved a confession from a sacrificial “republican” in the California state legislature. seems he was pretty thrilled with himself for sponsoring legislation for acceptance of “medicinal marijuana” that would ONLY be available for individuals that blah, blah, blah, with a doctor’s prescription.
but, his confession was that it was ALWAYS about legalizing drugs…
[ i’m guessing more leftist than liberal ]

NOW you know the REST of the story

If & when cars become automated, I will care somewhat less what others do to their bodies.

In many workplaces people always get tested after an accident for liability reasons. Although I have seen management of companies with such policies turn a blind eye when a druggies actions cause bodily harm to another person.

Save the planet: Fully legalize all drugs and institute a death penalty for DUI.

        • Pete

I would be for death penalty, if the offender caused someone else’s death.

I think that could pass. I think many Muslims would agree also.

And with heavy drug use with alcohol, nicotine, marijuana or other drugs comes possible epi-genetic changes such as methylization.

But the LEFT has to run us down that societal dead end and make us pay both ways.

Since medicalization leads to legalization of a medicine also popular for recreational use, when may I expect to see cocaine and methamphetamine be legalized? Since those two substances have been available by prescription for decades and decades and decades shouldn’t we expect those medicines to be legalized before cannabis gets its turn? Shouldn’t we plan on waiting for decades and decades and decades before cannabis is re-legalized since that’s the established precedent??

I said that with legalization of marijuana, which the people of NORML and others want, we are going to get damage to the genes of people.

server years form now or a generation from now, it could be banned again due to this damage.

I am not advocating for marijuana to be legalized. I see pot smoking for medicinal purposes to be a back door way of getting legalization. There was a compromise offered and that as the marinol pills. The compromise was that you want the active ingredient, THC, for an affliction, fine here it is in pill form.

Given that “medical marijuana” is just a smokescreen (pun intended) for getting high legally, providing the homeless with marijuana is just enabling them to be even more dysfunctional than they already are. But what do the libbies care? They don’t actually have any dealings with the homeless, and if they did, they’d be adamantly opposed to providing derelicts with yet another intoxicant. Most of the homeless are mostly blasted one way or the other most of the time as things stand.

Berkeley is an important community in the sense that it gave a lot of us sane people very early warning where this whole thing was headed.

They’ve been collectively insane for my entire life. And since the 1960s they’ve been a “model community” for all of the other wannabe communists around the nation.

Should we now be waiting for the administration to see that an opportunity like this can’t be wasted, and start running guns to the homeless?

Daniel you are missing the point. By using government to subsidize this resource they are hoping to cripple the market and then cause a lack of it.

Government subsidy = lack of item.

    It’s genius.

Keep in mind that cannibis is called “weed” for a reason.
