We’ve Got to Legalize Illegal Aliens So They Can Receive Our Taxes

obama-money

Obama argued that we needed to legalize illegal aliens so they can pay taxes. This occasionally fools people who ought to know better because they forget that by “pay taxes” he means receive taxes.

Illegal immigrants will receive huge payments from American taxpayers under rules now being imposed by President Barack Obama’s unilateral amnesty.

The illegals will get work-permits and Social Security cards, and will be required to pay taxes, according to Cecilia Munoz, the former immigration lobbyist who is now a top Obama aide.

That means they’re part of the tax system, she said, when she was asked if the illegals would get annual payments under the Earned Income Tax Credit program.

“They are subject to our tax law,” she said, carefully.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, two parents with three or more children would receive up to $6,143 in 2014 if they earn less than $46,997.

A family with two kids, and an income of $20,000, would receive $14,590 in taxpayer funds this year alone.

That money will be coming out of the pockets of Americans whose jobs those same illegals will be taking. How many billions in earned income credits will the 5 million illegal aliens be receiving?

Obama’s speech had the virtue of being fairly brief. Unfortunately, the speech contained two or three glaringly false assumptions, such as the initial premise that America has benefited from immigrant talent, then leaping to the conclusion that America can benefit from ILLEGAL immigrant talent. Well yes, but, there’s that pesky issue of playing by the rules that he mentioned earlier in his speech. And of these illegal immigrants who are here, how many of them are middle managers or scientists of one kind or another and how many of them are -pardon the borrowing of Obama’s figure of speech- landscapers?

Then he went to the heart of his argument, which was that once these people managed to smuggle themselves in, we have to let them stay because they stayed here for a long time. Yes, in many cases six extra years when Obama wouldn’t secure our borders or push to enforce our immigration laws and deport them. So now, we, as good-hearted Americans, ought to let them stay because it’s complicated and expensive to deport them. Bosh.

I could to on and on, but why bother? Everybody saw what he said.

This picture would be complete if there were Americans lying on the ground being trodden upon by these freeloaders.

He’s created a ton of unfunded burdens at the state level who now are going to have to offer benefits based on residency to millions more people. Moreover, plain old US citizens will still have to establish prior residency to get the benefit of things like in-state tuition where criminal illegals don’t.

And this is quite explicitly designed to maximize financial transfers from people who schlep to work every day to people having kids they can’t afford and working seasonal labor.

It’s a massive transfer of wealth to big farming industries that already expect local taxpayers to feed, clothe, house, educate and provide medical care for the employees they pay as little as possible for planting, harvesting, slaughtering and packing food.

Say you’re single and get a college education and are earning 30K a year — or have a two-income household and are clearing 60. If you pay your own bills — and worse, are married — you are being hit in the teeth with Obamacare costs, school taxes (often folded into your rent), SSI, and other taxation death by a thousand cuts.

Meanwhile, the folks next door who have kids, don’t get married or conceal their marriage (I’ve seen this among Mexican immigrant clients) and line up for every social service while declaring just enough to qualify for EITC (coached by the pop-up tax filing stores) are getting virtually free healthcare (say, $30 a month), help with utilities including cellphones (yet they always have cable tv), food stamps, WIC (which comprises a huge underground market) and other “help.”

The have more money than you do.

    Sucker.

And they don’t have to worry about, e.g., losing their job, the rent going up, or other vicissitudes of life because the government will take care of these. Pretty sweet deal for them.

This is the truth. I volunteer weekends at a food pantry and we have enough clients who speak Spanish as a first (sometimes only) language that I’m studying it in order to be able to communicate with them. We don’t check immigration status, but I’ve had clients present Matricula Consular cards, and a couple of Mexican national voter ID cards, as proof of identity.

They’re not bad people, but they’re not patriotic Americans in embryo or anything like that either. They’re economic migrants, away from home to find work.

The people I find myself getting angry with are the farmers, restaurants, etc. that use illegal immigrant labor. They’re paying cash under the table, no benefits, and leaving their workers to rely on public aid and private charity to survive. I don’t see the new ukase from Obama as changing this dynamic – I’d guess most illegals will simply keep on as they are, and those that do sign into the tax system will be net recipients. Unless this proposal contains serious sanctions on those who violate the law in pay and benefits for their workers, there is no upside.

      • http://tinatrent.com/ Tina Trent

Right. I can like and love as brothers the people themselves (except the many I’ve met who are viciously gaming the system and hate us)– but all the jobs I took to put myself through school — restaurant gigs, cleaning vacation condos (ugh, those condos), nursing home scutwork — I couldn’t get any of them today; they pay less and everyone working them is actually living on my tax dollars — not paying their own bills. EITC formalized this transfer of wealth to a degree that deserves a lot more attention . . .

The goal of the radical leftists always was to destroy the bourgeois. As of today, they’ve put the last nail in our casket.

The only way to stop all this is to either fight obamy in the courts to overturn his dictates, or impeach him and his hordes. Waiting two years until his term is up can’t be an option as our country will be totally bankrupted by these freeloaders by then. God only know what else obamy has in store for us, but he will keep going until we stop him.

Daniel, this may be a case where your unusually brilliant talent for sarcasm and wit is working against you. Unfortunately, your failure to appreciate the justice and humanity of providing deserving Hispanic families a realistic pathway to American citizen ship may be your Achilles’ Heel. Hopefully the next Republican Candidate for President will have a more enlightened and humane attitude about this than you seem to. As I’ve been saying since I first discovered this board, the problem is not that we have too many honest and hard-working Americans, the problem is that we have to few high-paying jobs to go around, and solving that problem is where our focus needs to be.

Fortunately, there is a workable formula for attracting high value-added industries with high-paying jobs to America, and although a lot of work remains to be done in that regard, a lot of progress has already been made. As I have pointed out on this board many times before, Dr. Rob Atkinson in his ground-breaking book Innovation Economics has analyzed both the problem and the solution in great detail, and I commend it to you with the utmost urgency and sincerity. Here again is the video I have posted many times before of Dr. Atkinson laying out the sum total of his analysis and conclusions.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWM08DzTuhY

From my point of view, you would be very wise to study Dr. Atkinson’s speech and his book very, very carefully and to incorporate his views into your overall analysis of the “international challenges America faces in the 21st Century”, and I say that with the highest respect to the contribution you have made and are continuing to make in the area of pointing out the clear, immediate, and imminent danger posed by the threat of global Islamic Jihad.

You need to understand three things, T.P.:

      1. Immigration of new workers must follow, not precede, years of robust economic growth (say over 5%) which have led to good-paying jobs going begging. We can’t allow in to the country millions of people on the blind hope that the economy will pick up enough to create jobs for them. Right now, we have essentially zero growth and that is likely to continue as long as Obama is President. Employment in the U.S. today is a zero-sum game: every immigrant with a job has taken that job away from an American who is now unemployed as a result.

      2. Even if we needed more workers, no country can survive a massive cultural assault. The ignorant peasants we are importing are the people who kept the socialist PRI party in power in Mexico for 70 years, and who cheer the Hugo Chavezs of Central and South America. They will not suddenly become wiser and more Conservative upon entering this country, they will vote for the furthest Left candidate they can find. The result will be one-party rule under the Democratic Left. If you doubt this, take a look at California. Until you can explain to us how a Conservative can win any state-wide office or the Presidential electors in CA, I don’t want to hear you lecture us on how the rest of the country needs to become more like CA in terms of demographics.

      3. Keep your bleeding heart to yourself. I’m tired of people like you who have so much sympathy for these lawbreakers who are a strain on our society in every way, and so little for your fellow Americans who are suffering because these immigrants have taken their jobs (or lowered their wages) and drained them as taxpayers.

      • Texas Patriot

N: Keep your bleeding heart to yourself. I’m tired of people like you who have so much sympathy for these lawbreakers who are a strain on our society in every way, and so little for your fellow Americans who are suffering because these immigrants have taken their jobs (or lowered their wages) and drained them as taxpayers.

You can’t even imagine how I feel about people like you. If we were so concerned about people coming across our borders to take the jobs that are freely offered to them, we would have sealed our borders long ago. And we would do it today, but for the overwhelming willingness of employers to hire undocumented laborers for less than they would have to pay anyone else.

So why don’t you get real and recognize that the fault has been on both sides. We failed to secure our borders, and we offered them jobs. If we don’t want any more of them to come across, fine. I agree that we should seal the borders tighter than a drum with the latest surveillance and interdiction technologies so that not even a gila monster can come cross without our knowing about it.

Regarding those Hispanics who are already here raising families and willing to work and pay taxes, we should do everything we possibly can to attract more industry and create more jobs so they can raise their families and pay taxes like everyone else. As for the coyotes who lured them here and hired them and now want to send them back because they are no longer needed. let them be the ones to cross the border back into Mexico and let them face the murderous drug gangs who dominate Northern Mexico.

As for you, I hope the coyotes nominate you lead their charge across the Rio Grande, and i hope you accept. And not only that, I hope they video the entire thing, so we can all see if you really know how to use those guns on your avatar. And you know what? I’m not kidding you even a little bit.

        • FedUpWithWelfareStates

Negative! These “Hispanics who are already here raising families and willing to work and pay taxes” broke our laws & Nothing supersedes that fact…If they came here only upon the slim thread of an anchor baby, then they gained access via still, law breaking means, & they should still be deported. The Law is the Law & if WE have to obey it, then for darn sure that persons from other countries have to, regardless that the Poser in Chief is running a Lawless Administration…

          • Texas Patriot

FUWWS: The Law is the Law & if WE have to obey it, then for darn sure that persons from other countries have to…

The first law of any nation is to enforce its own borders. Multiple administrations failed to obey that law. If American employers were so concerned about obeying the law, why were they so anxious to hire undocumented workers? The truth is that we failed to enforce our borders and we held out an open invitation for people to cross into our country and work. And that’s exactly what happened. If we want to start enforcing our own laws, fine. We SHOULD do that, by all means necessary. But at the same time, we can’t pretend that it was just the undocumented workers who were breaking the law, because that’s just not the case.

          • Joy Beum

I am in favor of SEALING the border and only allowing people who have been granted work permits for agriculture to enter, then leave. I am in favor of legal immigration through the process of background checks and fees paid. I am in favor of those in MY country illegally being deported immediately. No questions, no hearings, nothing. They have broken the law and violated our sovereignty. Other countries shoot them for less. If they want to come back, there is a legal system for that. Obamy has let them in to try to further destroy our country.

      • Joy Beum

I was fortunate to be born in the United States of America and I thank God for that. My ancestors came here LEGALLY from Europe long ago and went through Ellis Island. They were not sick or penniless or criminals, but people wanting a better life. There are people who have paid their fees, submitted to background checks and have something to offer to America waiting to immigrate, but are bumped because of wetbacks who have already broken the law by sneaking into MY country. Other countries across the world shoot intruders. I think it’s about time for us to adopt that custom.

That’s obamy’s plan. Break the bank and the backs of Americans. Turn us into a third world country. Why did the left not see this coming? We have to act! Perhaps another civil war is brewing.
