White House: American Values Demand We Keep Jews Out of Jerusalem

obama and netanyahu

The White House was upset over Jews living in Jerusalem. The White House doesn’t get upset over Muslims living in Jerusalem. That’s fine. But Jews living in a part of the city that they were ethnically cleansed from when Jordan invaded and expelled the Jews from there, blowing up their synagogues along the way, is unacceptable to Obama Inc.

Netanyahu rightly pointed out that objecting to one race/religion living in a city is against American values. Obama ought to know this one as his government spends a lot of time suing over discrimination in housing.

But instead the White House just got pissy.

The White House fired back at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Monday over his country’s settlement construction, saying Mr. Netanyahu’s criticism of the administration over the weekend “seemed to ignore our concerns.”

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said “it did seem odd” for Mr. Netanyahu to criticize the administration’s rebuke of Israel as “against American values.”

“When it comes to American values, it’s American values that led to this country’s unwavering support of Israel,” Mr. Earnest said. “It’s American values that have led us to fund an Iron Dome system” to protect Israelis from rocket attacks by Islamist militants.

“It’s clear how American values dictate or at least guide our thinking” on support of Israel,” Mr. Earnest said.

And Earnest and his boss don’t seem to be big fans of those American values. Or of Israel, by extension. Netanyahu isn’t criticizing American values. He’s criticizing the administration’s lack of those values.

Which is why you wouldn’t exactly call their support “unwavering”.

The Muslim Brotherhood burned down churches in Egypt and the White House shrugged. Qatar ships weapons to terrorists and the White House says nothing. But Jews move into Jerusalem… and the White House throws another hissy fit.

The Obama administration warned Israel that the project would distance Israel from “even its closest allies” and raise doubts about its efforts to seek peace with Palestinians.

Mr. Netanyahu, in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” called the administration’s condemnation “baffling.”

“It’s against the American values. And it doesn’t bode well for peace,” he said. “The idea that we’d have this ethnic purification as a condition for peace, I think it’s anti-peace.”

But Obama seems bent on the ethnic cleansing thing. I’m sorry, were those American values, Nazi values or Islamic values?

israel should not take $ from the US. why do they continue? maybe they can take care of them selves.

    • http://ruleofreason.blogspot.com/ Edward Cline

Rather, the U.S. should not be giving the “Palestinians” any money whatsoever, but we’ve given them billions over the years, most of which wound up sustaining and arming Hamas, the PLO, Abbas, Arafat, etc. Also, Israel is partly dependent on U.S. arms parts for the Iron Dome, its air force, and so on.

US weapons exports are designed to be Hotel California. Once you check in, etc… not necessarily a bad thing since it means US weapons exports become a means of imposing US foreign policy.

An additional complicating factor is that the defense industries of both countries are extremely entangled and even interdependent to some degree. Israelis develop and test technology that the US goes on to use. The US helps subsidize the development. Some of the entanglements are less savory, usual defense complex stuff, buy X so we can get Y, etc…

        • Gee

Yes and then the US uses our technology in a weapon that they sell to the Arabs that is at war with us.

    • Lightbringer

It will probably come to that. Israel has a booming economy in both the tech and energy sectors, and they do not, or will soon not, need anything from the US except the right to be left alone. Netanyahu is a great leader in this regard, as he is not the least apologetic or deferential toward the US or anyone else.

Keep Jews OUT of Jerusalem? Excuse me, the “JEWS” founded “Jerusalem”over 3000 years ago. Obama is going to bring God’s Righteous anger on America! Mr. Netanyahu, please reverse engineer the Iron Dome missles and anything else you need from the USA. Right now we have a very bad President and Administration, a godless, situational ethics nightmare, arrogant intellectuals pretending to know what they are doing. Get back to us when the present “progressive” Democrats are history.

    • Raymond_in_DC

There’s no need for Israel to reverse engineer the Iron Dome as it was entirely developed in Israel, and most of the engineers involved are graduates of the Technion, Israel’s MIT. The Arrow and David’s Sling systems are joint US-Israel development projects.

The US began funding Iron Dome after it was field-proven, as it gives Israel the option not to take more aggressive action when attacked with rockets. Current funding also mandates a degree of co-production, and Raytheon was just awarded a $149 million contract to build the Tamir interceptor used by Iron Dome. But I have it on good authority Israel is not sharing the intellectual property, like the software and algorithms, only the production technology.

Thanks Ray! I just heard Obama was withholding something from Israel. Thought it was those missles. Cutting the Tomahawk though is treasonous isn’t it? I mean for accuracy from long distance? What is wrong with this “Commander-in-Chief”?

        • Raymond_in_DC

You’re probably thinking of the Hellfire missiles which were being held up for … “bureaucratic” reasons. Yeah, right. Then even after the administration claimed problems were resolved, they were still not being released. (Of course, they *were* being sold to Qatar!)

As to what’s “wrong” with the C-in-C, if he had an honest psychiatrist, he’d tell Obama he was a textbook narcissist. He listens to few outside his limited circle, who only reaffirm his flawed internal compass. He not only thinks he knows what’s best for America, but for its enemies too. He just can’t understand why Putin, Iran and ISIS aren’t heeding his advice.

  • truebearing

This is Imambama showing his “Muslim faith” yet again. If Muslims claimed Dublin is a Muslim city, would Obama object to the Irish building new developments there. As much as he hates Christians, his deep hatred of Jews has fogged his mind to the point that he is opposing Jews living in Jerusalem. This is bizarre.

  • Douglas J. Bender

Mr. Obama is not a nice man.

  • Hard Little Machine

Just wait till they declare that Jews can’t live in America.

    • Sara

      It wouldn’t shock me.

    • Lightbringer

I fear that it might be coming.

  • Gee

American values – segregation, 2nd class civilians, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and slavery. Those two have been American values that we refuse to share.

If Jews living in Israel, especially our capital Jerusalem are a problem for this US administration then the problem lies in Washington, not Jerusalem

  • RAM500

Obama has as little use for traditional American values as he has for Jews and Israel (except their far left fringe).

  • glpage

Obama seems to think that his values are American values. Just like everything else he does, he decides to impose his will on those he is supposed to serve.

  • Lightbringer

Will many of the American Jews take the hint? Some, but perhaps not those poor religiously illiterate ones for whom liberalism in the religion of choice. There are, however, plenty of us who never supported him or any other liberal candidate, including the author of the article we are commenting on.
