White House Demanded Personal Apology from Ben Carson

Since when does a public figure disagreeing with a politician require a personal apology in America? Too bad this is Obamerica now.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year.

“He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of the program, I received a call from some of the prayer breakfast organizers saying that the White House was upset and requesting that I call the president and apologize for offending him. I said that I did not think that he was offended and that I didn’t think that such a call was warranted.”

“Many have commented that the president appeared to be uncomfortable during my speech, but I was not paying particular attention to him or his reactions, as my comments were really directed more at the American people than the people on the dais,” Carson recalls. “At the conclusion of the program, the president approached me to shake my hand and thank me for my participation.”

Who wants to bet that the demand came from Valerie Jarrett, not Obama?

Oh, how juvenile can you get? If you have to “demand” an apology, you’re certainly not gonna get one–at least, a sincere one. Sheesh.

  • darnellecheri

When you view yourself as: Caesar, Tsar, Czar, Emperor, Kaiser, and King, you send your minions to demand that honor you so rightly deserve.

  • Nabukuduriuzhur

I’m glad he didn’t apologize. It’s in vogue for liars to demand apologies when the truth is told. And unfortunately, most Conservatives cave in and apologize.

It’s NOT APPROPRIATE to apologize for telling the truth.

  • Habbgun

In Obamaworld an apology means “I’m sorry. I will make statements showing my affinity with the brave struggle of the North Vietnamese people and please don’t audit me.”

  • Texas Patriot

I agree that the request for an apology probably did not come from the president himself. Unfortunately, Obama has surrounded himself with some real snakes, in much the same way as FDR did in WWII. Is he doing it to make sure that he always knows what the enemy is thinking? Possibly. That apparently was FDR’s rationale, and it’s not always a bad strategy. But it does make for some odd moments. Carson was right not to apologize.

    • Doobee

You and I will probably catch grief from conservatives here, but I agree that FDR did exactly that for that exact reason. To some extent, however, I think that FDR only thought that he was “keeping America’s enemies closer than its friends.” The communists in the WH got away with quite a lot IMO.

      • Lea

And history is repeating itself here, since Obama has indeed surrounded himself with snakes, snakes that spit much the same venom as the communists: NWO, world dominion. The snakes this time are the arch enemies of free America: the Muslim Brotherhood, which is in fact an Islamic group that is Islamised communism due to their similar traits by Hanna and Qutb.

I’ll put money on that bet, that it was Valerie Jarrett.

    • herb benty

That’s Jarrett for sure, Obama is partly her creation and she couldn’t allow her carefully crafted idol to be tarnished.

      • JBisback

Yes, she probably took Carson’s criticism harder than Obama did. I have no doubt that he is willing participant in her machinations, though.

        • herb benty

Carson spoke common sense to power, and Jarrett couldnt allow her mini-Marxist to be put down like a commoner.

    • Doobee

EVERYTHING the WH does comes from Valerie Jarrett. She wears the pants there.

  • USARetired

Well deserved criticism never needs an apology!

  • Rick Zee

    An appropriate response would be:

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen

Did Dr. Carson offend The Prophet Obama?

  • Gee

I wrote an apology for Dr. Carson.
    Dear Mr. President:
I am sorry that you so thin skinned that none may state anything within your hearing that you do not agree with.
I am so sorry that you are so ignorant of the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. Perhaps since you are constantly on permanent vacation you might take a copy with you to the golf course and make yourself familiar with that document you swore to protect.
    Doctor Ben Carson

    • Doobee

Perhaps you should address it to Valerie Jarrett.

  • A Z

“Who wants to bet that the demand came from Valerie Jarrett, not Obama?”

If she cannot take a hit she should stay out the ring.

But she sure wants to hit people.

    • Doobee

No, she wants to hurt people. And she does. Most of them are white.

  • catherineinpvb

Why the bet. . .this is typical of Obama; who is on record as the biggest ‘Narcissist-in-Chief’, America has ever suffered. .Ben Carson is the best; and he is ‘cool. Anyone watching (and was one of a gazillion) KNEW by contrast; that Obama was ‘hot’ and fuming. . .totally ticked off, as Carson calmly outmatched him by education and character. Obama even closed his eyes; his typical move whereby he not only dismisses the ‘significant other’ in the room; he makes them disappear. Obama is smart enough to know; that his wrath works the best; when he keeps it covert. But it never takes him long to respond and give the ‘blow'; when the person is looking the other way. (The IRS was next; with or without the apology. But Obama’s ‘win’ would have been sweeter; to have Carson’s humility; and then have him get the ‘knock on the door’.)

    • darnellecheri

Oh, do I remember watching Obama’s body language at that breakfast! He was not a happy camper. The IRS received their orders.

      • Doobee

Moochelle can scarcely contain the contempt she wears on her face at every one of these prayer breakfasts. I’d like to tell these people to just cancel them.

    • Lea

A pity that Carson was not elected president instead of Obama. Carson is someone that African Americans could feel proud of, instead Obama is shaming them.

  • truebearing

Maybe he should have apologized, publicly. Maybe something like this:

“Dear Mr. President. I’m sorry that speaking the truth offended you. Anyone so alienated from truth is in serious trouble. Looking back, I realize that there simply wasn’t any way to avoid offending you since I don’t have your facility or predisposition to look people in the eye and lie to them. I’m not a sociopath, you see. That you, or your evil handlers, would expect an apology from me for exercising my 1st amendment rights and being truthful is insufferably arrogant. You are not above the truth.”

  • Robert Johnson

A real president would have invited Dr. Carson to the White House and told him it was very valuable to hear from opponents with different ideas, especially a physician with decades of experience that might have valuable insights that might improve health care for all the American people. A REAL president.

  • Doobee

To the White House? What does this mean? They want Dr. Carson to walk up to the WH and offer an apology to the front steps?

  • Anamah

    Dear Dr. Carson,
I would like to apologize for the absurd originated in our White House.
We have there temporarily the wrong people, confused and quite unclear about our values as a nation. They usually ignore our individual liberties and tend to dismiss our rights as Americans…

We have lost the plot; we will recover our way toward “the shining city upon a hill”, to shine again for freedom loving people around the world.
And you my friend will be an indispensable part for the achievement…
    Thank you for stand up!
