Why Pollard Won’t Be Released

It’s not going to happen.

Why? Because Obama doesn’t need to do it.

Look back at the past year. Obama managed to get Netanyahu to release terrorists who had brutally murdered civilians in exchange for absolutely nothing… from the Palestinian Authority and from the administration.

The only reason that Pollard even came up is because Netanyahu tried to stall the endless demands by claiming that he couldn’t keep making concessions without bringing down his government.

But that assumes that Obama doesn’t want to bring down Netanyahu. Instead there’s every reason to believe that he does. So why would Obama give Netanyahu anything?

The answer is he wouldn’t.

That’s not to say that he might not string along Netanyahu by creating the impression that Pollard is on the table. Clinton did the same thing to Netanyahu. And then he was gone from the table.

It’s entirely possible that Netanyahu is helping feed the story to pacify members of his government and Obama is ‘cooperating’ to the extent of not shooting down the story.

And that’s as far as it will go.

Now nothing is completely impossible and Obama has been known to break a lot of rules and he certainly doesn’t care about Pollard one way or another, but he doesn’t need to break this one. Pollard is too valuable, not because he knows anything, but because a lot of Israelis are willing to do anything for him, which means that he’s too valuable to actually give up. It’s easier to keep him as an ace in the hole.

The only result of the current wave of Pollard stories will be to increase his value and keep the same cycle going.

And that means that it’s highly unlikely that Pollard will be released.

Pollard has already served 27 years of a 30 year sentence…hmmmm…under pressure from Obama Inc Israel has released hundreds of murderers way early of the sentences….Pollard’s release would be a good thing in American/Israeli relation…and that is why Obama opposes it….

A 30 year sentence for a crime that normally carries a sentence of about 4 years.

Then again, Obama supports Abu Mazen, who is currently in the 10th year of his 4 year term as president.

      Cue the USS Liberty trolls and treason trolls in 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 -

I disagree Daniel. I think Obama sees him as low hanging fruit as he is up for parole soon anyways. And since he is actually serving Aldrich Ames’ sentence there is a pretty good chance he is getting out anyways. If that happens, Obama can’t dangle anything over Israel’s head. If he releases him, then Pollard becomes a reason to demand more concessions for. Plus Obama is of the camp that believe all of Israel will be Palestine soon anyways.

    • Daniel Greenfield

That’s assuming he gets parole, which I would not assume.

The key point though is that it’s not as if Obama feels he has to give anything anyway to get Israel to do what he wants.

If Odumba does manage to bring down Netanyahu – the next government is not going to any better for him. In fact it is likely Likud will remove Netanyahu and put somebody like Danon in power and he is far to the right of Netanyahu

I blame a lot of this on the government of Israel. They take garbage without complaint & are rewarded with more garbage for their efforts.
Ben Gurion & the Jewish Agency declared the rebirth of Israel in 1948 in spite of strong opposition from the Jew haters in Washington & Europe. The feeling then was that if Washington & Europe didn’t like it they could go to the devil!Years later,Prime Minister Begin got a lot of flack from Washington concerning the Israeli raid on Iraq’s nuclear facilities.Begin told Washington that Israel was not a banana republic,& it was not anyones vassal state!
In the last 20 years much of this attitude has changed.
The problem with the current Prime Minister,Netanyahu,is that he is
“far too cute by half”.He keeps taking abuse from Washington & Europe, doing the court Jew routine,in the hope that they will go away.Because it is an easy smackdown,Israel’s enemies in Washington & Brussels keep heaping more & more abuse on Israel, cost free(why should they stop?).
If the Netanyahu Government were to hit back there might be more respect from Washington & the EU.!

  • Hard Little Machine

Not only will he not be released, if anyone believes the US will free him after 30 years they are delusional. The US has always been dedicated to burying Pollard.

Pollard’s wife says that for him there’s no chance of a routine parole; the mud slung at him at the time of sentencing is too heavy to permit that. His freedom is pretty much in the hands of the President.

What I never really understood was why wasn’t this guy just taken to the town square and hung?
