One member of the media found one of the perpetrators sitting at a cafe in Benghazi just days after 9/11/12, and found that no one from the US government had been conducting an investigation at the compound by then.

Had it not been for FNC, I'm not sure anyone would have investigated. Least of all the Obama regime. Too busy making the cocktail party rounds.

The only reason American forces were going after bin Laden was because that "village idiot" Bush set them in motion. Bush isn't there to set them in motion this time around.

"It didn't take Egypt very long to revert back to a military oligarchy."

Proving the real enemy of Middle East is Obama's America, not the pre-Obama America, as the political left has tried to make us believe (and as Greenfield has set the record straight, previously).

"The Libyan military was known as a joke under Gaddafi and its performance during the Libyan Civil War didn't do much to impress anyone."

Or during its war/ border dispute with Chad, in the 1990s, or whenever it was, when tiny Chad kicked their butt. Relations improved when a new, pro-Gaddafi Chad leader came to power. Even then, when it needed to build an oil pipeline to the sea, it chose a route through Cameroon, not Libya, due to Cameroon's relative stability. But I digress.

"General Hifter claims American support, but it’s doubtful that he has anything except maybe a few leftover contacts in the CIA."

Probably due to Obama's tendency to purge anyone who doesn't march in lockstep with him. He's always after yes-men. "Yes we can!". Although he still can't, even with a regime full of yes-men. Plus, the reason why the brokerage house Lehman Brothers collapsed is because the CEO purged his subordinates of any countering views, and surrounded himself with yes-men. Consequently, there was no one left to explain the risks he was taking. But Obama doesn't really care. Obama intends to preside over the demise of the United States, as we know it, anyway, and keep the spoils for himself and his cronies.

"Like Obama, the pundits and talking heads will learn little humility from the swiftness with which the Middle East erased their new era of history from history."

With the compliant media, Obama will be protected. Like China's Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution, the fact that each failed and millions died as a result of Chairman Mao's ideas was of little consequence to Mao or his wife, in the end. Such charmed lives, the left has.

Comrade Obummer policies in the muslim world are not just being subtle and subordinate, they are being trashed and discredited. I do have my dusty boots on the ground here, and I see every bloody day the incompetence and abject stupidity running both State, and the spooks always getting conflicting orders and have no idea what to do or where to go, it is a clusterf**k of monumental proportions, and folks like you who know jacksh*t about nothing here continue to praise Obummer as the greatest thing since the coming of Christ.
Anyone who knows anything about the Egyptian military would know that the MB wouldn't have lasted long in Egypt or anywhere else for that matter for the military one way or another here will win out almost every time.
Lack of support for the Shah was that incompetent idiot peanut Carters doing, and if we had helped the Shah stomp on those god forsaken ayatollahs, we wouldn't have Iran as an enemy today.
Your thinking is utterly worthless and nothing more than wishful thinking.

Oh, please, not the categorical body slam of using the MB against me! Who says I hold Pres. Obama in high regard simply because I'm willing to look at the situation w/an unjaundiced eye? Despite you claiming Obama and his administration are simply dead in the water in the region, I'm pretty sure that the American plan from now on is to roll w/the populist punches in the Middle East and keep a very close eye on the players and hope that the best man comes forward for American and Western interests. That's not being dead in the water, that is simply taking a more subtle subordinate role. (Something to be expected for a long time to come for the U.S. once the Shah was ousted so long ago!) A third grader might have envisioned this debacle of the Muslim Brotherhood coming into power through failing to do full disclosure about their intended policies but I bet a third grader wouldn't have foreseen that the Muslim Brotherhood would have been shown the door just as quickly post-election.

I'll continue to speak volumes about me and my thinking and not leave it up to such as you to put words in my mouth.

I'm a fan of your columns, Daniel, and I certainly am no expert on Libyan geopolitics, but I find it hard to believe that this guy Hifter is now in Libya by accident. I tend to disagree with you that the U.S. & CIA isn't behind a sudden appearance of a "rogue" general who has lived in suburban Virginia (Langley proximity) since 1991. This should have been the strategy from the beginning, Hifter has been an intelligence asset really since Reagan (see here: http://www.businessinsider.com/the-cias-man-in-libya-2011-4) ...Why the convoluted shenanigans funneling weapons through Benghazi to Syria? (don't answer that, I already know) Teenage fan boys always think They Know Better. Bush was an evil moron, but Obama is the smartest being ever walk the face of the earth. Politicians talk out of both sides of their face. Obama is paying lip service to the MB (that's where his heart is) but he can't afford to be embarrassed by his Libyan intervention and Hillary ESPECIALLY can't. This is really an amazing story...the implosion of the Left's foreign policy and yet so few will ever know about it. We got endless, wall to wall, nightly coverage of Bush's "evil" wars but this story is considered "underground" and "fringe." Wow!

The core of the Democrat foreign policy is Cultural Marxist "Critical Theory". This states that whatever is wrong in the World is a result of the West doing things, or not doing things. Whatever happens, the West is to blame.

From that starting point the Left end up *hating* America and everything it stands for - because they are convinced that every evil and injustice originates from America and the West.

This is why you see:
1) Obama apologizing for America being American to all Middle Eastern despots.

2) The Democrats working hard to destroy America as it is.

3) The Democrats wanting to elevate all non-Western states, while pushing down all Western states - to restore "equality".

Make no mistake, the Left *hates* America as it was and is. That is why they seek a fundamental transformation of America, its culture, and its people.

Even Sayet explains this very clearly:
"How Modern Liberals Think" [56 mins]

Andrew Breitbart called, "One of the five most important conservative speeches ever given"

The core of the Democrat foreign policy is Cultural Marxist “Critical Theory”. This states that whatever is wrong in the World is a result of the West doing things, or not doing things. Whatever happens, the West is to blame.

From that starting point the Left end up *hating* America and everything it stands for – because they are convinced that every evil and injustice originates from America and the West.

This is why you see:
1) Obama apologizing for America being American to all Middle Eastern despots.

2) The Democrats working hard to destroy America as it is.

3) The Democrats wanting to elevate all non-Western states, while pushing down all Western states – to restore “equality”.

The great Barry Rubin explains this for you. Please watch all the way to the end, as he covers why it is undeclared *Democrat* policy to appease the Muslim Brotherhood by furthering their interests. Note: it's not just Obama doing this - swap Obama for any other Democrat and you get the same, completely consistent (and completely delusional) policy:

Since "Obama apologist" is the universal insult against dissenting voices that don't take the populist line on Front Page Mag, I'll have to say you're wrong. I'm not an apologist for Pres. Obama simply because I say there's not much that an American President can do except ride this lion and take every opportunity to attempt to tame it. I feel I'm more of a realist. Feel free to argue against me w/that perspective in mind because that's how I'm arguing. (Is that real? Could this really be real? What is unreal about that scenario?)
