Fighting Jihad with Education

12p_terror600Reprinted from Aish.com.

In this time of great danger – with Iran threatening Israel with nuclear annihilation, and jihadists on borders north and south – Israel’s efforts to tell its story to the world are simply not taking hold. The classic approach of explanatory “hasbara” has repeatedly failed to break through the clutter of disinformation.

It is time for a new approach – one in which the world understands that they also have “skin in the game.”

The Middle East conflict is not simply “Arab versus Jew.” Rather this is a “holy war” being waged by jihadists against all people of good will – Jews, Christians and moderate Muslims.

The key, I believe, is education. Once good people are informed about the facts, we have a much better chance of standing up to evil and achieving our mission of keeping the world free.

Threat of Jihad to the West

It is crucial that we clearly understand the goals and ideals of the budding Muslim Caliphate.

Jihad is not merely some force “across the ocean.” Muslim leaders have declared their aim of world domination.

Part of the jihadist strategy is to plant cells in every country. Even the United States, with its huge territory and strong military, is part of the jihadist plan.

At particular risk is America’s long-standing ally, Israel, whose historical roots in Israel date 2,000 years before the advent of Islam. The 20th century Mandateconferred modern legitimacy on the Jewish state, and Israel’s legal rights to the land are unassailable.

Yet due to intimidation and threats, many Western leaders support corrupt Arab regimes, thinking that by sacrificing the State of Israel they will somehow pacify the jihadists and avoid becoming victims themselves.

In fact the opposite is true. The more we placate and cajole these bullies, the more we embolden them. As we saw with Hitler and Czechoslovakia, giving in to the wicked led to the invasion of Europe. The U.S. woke up quite late, and defeating the Nazis was no simple matter.

In many respects – e.g. nuclear weapons – today’s threat is much greater.

If we don’t deal with the jihadist threat now, we will have to deal with it later when they will likely have more land, more resources, and far more devastating weapons.

Extreme Violence

Wherever radical Islam takes hold – whether via ISIS, Hezbollah, Iran, Hamas or Boko Haram – horrific abuse is directed against Infidels (e.g. beheadings) and even their own people.

Hamas recently executed 21 suspected informers in an extra-judicial action, while al-Qaeda perpetrated a gruesome schoolyard massacre (graphic warning).

Should the wicked prevail, no Christian, Buddhist or even Moderate Muslim will be spared – neither in the Middle East nor elsewhere in the world. Today, thousands of Christians are fleeing under death threats from tyrannical jihadists, and anti-Semitism across Europe is at its worse since the Nazi era.

By supporting the villains who willfully distort facts, they ultimately undermine their own future and that of their children.

Corruption of Jihadist Regimes

Corrupt leaders across the Muslim world are exploiting their populations, in favor of solidifying their own power and personal financial wealth, leaving their constituency to wallow in despair.

Palestinians have particularly suffered, with their leadership continuing to divert civilian aid to more nefarious ends.

Palestinian refugees have long remained political pawns of Arab regimes. In today’s terror war, they are even used as human shields.

How can we justify our own indifference to these human rights violations?

Armed with Information

Today, the media is the primary disseminator of information. To regulate this power, monitoring organizations are documenting the facts:

  • Camera – monitoring the Western media
  • HonestReporting – fast-action global media watch
  • Palestinian Media Watch – translations and monitoring of Palestinian sources
  • Memri – exposing the messages that jihadists share with their own people

What can you do?

In disseminating information, each of us plays an important role. We never know when we’ll be called upon to use our knowledge, and we must have the ability to speak with confidence.

The more “truth ambassadors,” the better the chance of us all living in a peaceful world.

Excellent article. In this greatest of all ideological struggles the world has ever known, the truth is the only weapon that has a chance of winning, and the truth of the matter is that the global forces of Islamic Jihad are an absolute threat to Western ideals of individual freedom, human rights, and constitutional democracy. As Anjem Choudary says, when Islamic Jihadists talk about Sharia, they are talking about Sharia, and only the Sharia.

I agree. There is one propaganda word which alone powerfully impedes education about Jihad. We must fight back by educating ourselves and others into the true definitions of this word:

    Islamophobe (noun):

    1.
Derogatory term for a person who opposes the teachings, politics, practices or culture of Islam..

    2.
Derogatory term for a person who has counterjihadist vision or sentiments.

Neutral definitions like the above should appear in any dictionary. When such words are used against us, we must fight back by pointing out that these words are purely derogatory terms, terms of abuse, epithets, insults, and are inherently non-neutral, pro-Islam and pro-Jihad, and have no intelligence or reason behind them, and in fact their use is a form of bigotry.

      Gentile Joe Bro,
Is it really a phobia if they’re waging war on the 4 corners of the earth and cutting people’s heads off in the name of their god?

      • Joe The Gentile

No, it’s not a phobia. A proper definition of the term exposes the nature of the term.

But I’m currently inclined to think that arguing about the ‘phobia’ is a mistake. If Churchill were called a Naziphobe, should he be arguing that he does not have a phobia? That puts him in the defensive position, where he does not belong. It is the same for people who are opposed to Islam.

Better to say IMO that Islamophobe is just a derogatory term for a person who opposes any of the teachings, politics, practices or culture of Islam. And ask the speaker not to be hurling abuse at you!

  • Joe The Gentile

It is exactly right that if Israel falls, the Jihad rallies with a fury. The Jihad vacillates from ‘cowed’ to ‘confident’, and at the cowed end, it gets labeled ‘Moderate Islam’. At the confident end, you have a Radical Islamic government like ISIS.

There is global, as well as local Jihad-confidence. Global Jihad-confidence is going up. Israel has global significance for the Jihad. If Israel falls, global Jihad-confidence flares up and we have a much-strengthened Jihad on our hands, and are down one major ally for fighting it. Not a good idea. Allegiance between the West and Israel is called-for.

    • SCREW SOCIALISM

      Israel will not fall.

      Eurabia is falling.

Islamists are at the tipping point in Eurabia – demanding more and more “rights” and imposing their “rights” on young girls, neighborhoods, journalists, artists, homosexuals.

The picture at the head of the commentary, like many, many other pictures of Muslim fundamentalist jihadists, reveals an almost obsessive preoccupation with the paraphernalia of warfare. Maybe these jihadists ought to consider joining some nation’s army.

Katz is right. Jihad isn’t just a threat to Israel but to all of us. One would hope that after 9/11 we need not have to say this but our political leaders lied about Islam. 9/11 was a religious attack. The Islamists who win elections in Muslim nations are the same ones who cheered on 9/11. They are our enemies and the enemy of civilization.

It’s clear now that Islam, Salafist Islam, is opposed to human freedom, pluralism, and human happiness. It is a dark oppressive religious creed. Look at Iran or Saudi Arabia. Or ISIS … ISIS is Islam

Could any sane person not realize that flooding EVERY & ONLY White
countries with MILLIONS of non-Whites and telling everyone to
“assimilate” to create a blended humanity IS white GENOCIDE?

Africa will still be full of Africans

Asia will still be full of Asians

Only White children will suffer from this insanity.

      iT’s wHitE geNOcide

Except they don’t call it GENOCIDE when it’s done to White children.

      They call it “diversity”

      Anti-racist is a code for anti-White

All the propaganda in the world would not suffice were there not pre-existing anti-Semitism, which few understand in its horrid totality. I tried to do that here, emphasizing the resistance to modernity: http://clarespark.com/2012/09/29/index-to-blogs-on-antisemitism/. Index to blogs on anti-Semitism. Read the last paragraph at least.

    • SCREW SOCIALISM

The best protection from anti-semitism is Israel equipped with determination and tools to defend itself and defeat its attackers.

Let Eurabia continue on its track to WW3.

What currently passes for US foreign policy is beyond disgusting.
And it’s mostly based on a series of lies and the impulse to betray.
American leadership frequently arms, funds, aids and abets the very elements we should either be fighting, marginalizing or isolating while at the same time the same leadership betrays or diplomatically sells out traditional allies for political expediency or even to enemies like the Muslim Brotherhood whom our precious leaders insist is a new found ally.
In a just world they would be horsewhipped but in this world they need to be opposed but among the political class, there’s no real opposition to the foreign policy of betrayal and selling out.
In my opinion Romney lost the debate when Jim Lehrer asked him if he would have done anything different in Egypt with Mubarak than the Obama Administration did. Romney answered “No, Jim…”

    • SCREW SOCIALISM

I disagree. Romney lost when he took the “high road” and chose not to bring up the failures of the Obama administration. Romney should have fought Obama on his record – and whether his accomplishments warranted another term.
