Israel at Peace, Palestinians at War

abbasThe recent breakdown in the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and its apparent implications distorts the day to day reality in Israel.  Furthermore, the comments made by John Kerry paint a bleak picture of a country on the verge of becoming a pariah in the international community, or at the least indicate that it would be fair for Israel to be treated that way. While many are predisposed regarding the prospects of the peace process and who is at fault for the most recent breakdown, for those seeking the truth, it is of utmost importance to understand the reality on the ground.  If we can move past the ambiguous phraseology and political rhetoric used by the United States and the international community concerning the “peace process” and lamenting its deterioration, we can begin to understand a less harsher reality, whose implications are far from the ominous remarks that John Kerry has made recently and in the past.

Since 1993, the Israelis and Palestinians have been involved in a “peace process,” which might imply that the sides are at each other’s throat and incessantly fighting. Furthermore, it would indicate that this “peace process” is the only way to bring an end to the incessant fighting and bloodshed.  However, nothing could be further from the truth.

The reality is that Israel, not only as a country, but as individual citizens, lives at peace with the Palestinians.  Hard to believe – but it’s true. Since 1947, when Israel accepted the U.N. Partition Plan, which gave them sovereignty over a crumb of land, Israel has continuously reached out to the Arabs for peace, only to be met with a just as continuous chant of no, no, no.

Palestinians, or any Arabs for that matter, are able to travel anywhere in Israel without feeling threatened.  From Judea and Samaria to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem to Eilat, Arabs don’t have to worry that someone will threaten them simply because they are an Arab.  They might raise suspicion, and hence be checked, but that is to merely determine that they have no terrorist intentions.  This is certainly understandable in a country where at anytime, ordinary civilians could be on the receiving end of a bus blowing up or a suicide bomber in restaurant.

Many Arabs know that Israelis are a very sympathetic and kind people.  It is not unusual to hear of stories where soldiers, or Israelis living in Judea and Samaria (AKA West Bank) help out Arabs in need, whether it be a woman who needs to give birth, a sick person or any other situation where an Arab could not find the help they need from their local community.  Even at various checkpoints, Palestinians know that they can play on the sympathies of IDF soldiers in hoping to be let through.  When the Palestinian terrorism was at its height in the first decade of the 21st century, Palestinian ambulances had replaced local taxis for transportation through checkpoints since Israel would always permit ambulances to be allowed through checkpoints because of its sensitivity to the sick, even though most of the passengers in the ambulances were not sick ( I was a soldier there and saw this firsthand).

Palestinians with work permits are hired and work for various Israeli companies in pre-1967 Israel, and many other Palestinians work for Israeli companies at various industrial parks throughout Judea and Samaria (Barkan, Mishor Adumim).  It is well known that many Arabs and Palestinians work for the Supermarket chain Rami Levi.

Despite all of the rhetoric, there is no Israeli group, either on the political left or the political right who advocates violence against the Palestinians simply because they are Palestinians.  While some groups may propose harsh responses to Palestinian terrorism, initiating violence against the Palestinians is virtually unheard of in Israel.  While there have been some incidents of violence, the perpetrators are immediately condemned by all as radicals who have absolutely no political representation or social support for their acts.  Even those ‘radicals’ who propose removing Palestinians from Israel, openly proclaim that the only way to do so is by offering them economic incentives to live elsewhere.

Israel teaches tolerance in its schools, accommodates Arabs at government offices recognizing it as one of the languages of the country, has organizations that collect charity for poor Arabs, treats patients from Gaza, the Palestinian controlled territories in Judea and Samaria, and from a variety of other Arab countries in the Middle East at its hospital and medical clinics – specifically those in need of unique medical treatments that are not available in their home countries.

Israel’s media even gives the Palestinians a platform to present their anti-Israel views.  I recall a newscast during Operation Cast Lead where following an interview with Homeland Security Minister, Avi Dichter, who stated that Hamas was hiding militants in Shifa hospital, a Palestinian doctor was interviewed and claimed that Dichter’s comments were nonsense.

If a peace agreement were signed tomorrow, the Israeli people would not have to undergo any societal change, because we have been at peace with Palestinians and Arabs for many years now – we were merely waiting for them to let us know that they have truthfully given up their goal of destroying Israel and the Jewish people.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said regarding the Palestinian political leadership or the general populace.  No sane Israeli would travel to any of the Palestinian controlled cities.  Not only is it forbidden by Israeli law, but it is a possible death wish.  The reason Israel forbids its citizens to enter Palestinian controlled areas is that the IDF knows that there is good chance that an Israeli travelling in a West Bank city will most likely need to be rescued by an army operation.  Even travelling through certain Arab villages in pre-1967 Israel can be a dangerous undertaking for a non-Arab.

While some Palestinians might be ambivalent, or even friendly toward Israelis, lynching incidents, including the brutal lynch and disfiguring of two Israeli reserve soldiers by a Palestinian mob in Ramallah in October, 2000, indicates that the general populace is at least quietly supportive, if not openly supportive, of such acts.  The only counter argument to this would be to say that the Palestinians are afraid to speak against these acts for fear of retribution by the government or terrorist groups (this could include being accused of treason, placed in front of a firing squad and then being taken for a complimentary tour of the city tied to the back of a car), which is certainly a good reminder to Israelis (and the international community) as to the type of people sitting opposite them at the negotiating table.

Most Israelis would not knowingly ask Palestinians or Arabs for help, unless the situation is so extremely dire, and even then, would only be done hesitantly as a last resort.  Israelis whether in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, or Judea and Samaria, are always on guard if there is an Arab walking behind them or milling around in the area; not because they don’t like him, but because they have no idea if he may be a terrorist.  Israelis will not frequent parks at night where there is a significant Arab population that also frequents these parks for fear of a possible attack.

Israelis would never possibly consider going to an Arab medical center for fear of leaving dead – and not because of natural causes.

The Palestinian schools teach incitement against the Israelis in their textbooks.  Their textbooks and maps do not even mention Israel’s existence.  Palestinian and Arab media continually incite violence against Israel – from political talk shows to children’s programs all advocate jihad against Israel.  The incitement is so venomous and on such a large scale – yet ignored by the West and others in a fantasy world –  that there is a website called Palestinian Media Watch dedicated to monitoring it.

Israelis do not work for Palestinian companies because 1) they can’t travel to Palestinian controlled cities; 2) they wouldn’t be hired anyway; and 3) even if hired they would always be taking the risk of being killed on the job.  Furthermore, PA chairman Abu Mazen has repeatedly said that no Israelis will be allowed to live in a Palestinian state.

Palestinian leaders have not made any goodwill gestures to Israel or ever said anything positive about Israel itself, despite sending ill family members to hospitals in Israel for treatment.  Palestinian leaders continue to spread lies throughout the international community about Israel and Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.

Direct negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian leadership have temporarily ceased, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be peace or co-existence.  Israel and its citizens will continue to work to improve the lives of Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria, even though the official Palestinian Authority policy continues to be the total destruction of Israel.  The Palestinian Authority will continue beating the drums of war, violence, and delegitimizing Israel in the international community.  Their incessant media incitement will provoke terrorist attacks, and thus exact an Israeli military response, which undoubtedly will be widely condemned in the international community.

Inevitably, the Palestinians will return to the peace process and direct negotiations since it has been expedient for them, as sitting at the table keeps the western money faucet running.  When they do return, let us call the process by a name that will better reflect the reality on the ground and what is necessary for a real settlement: The process of Palestinian rehabilitation from hate and destructive behavior syndrome.

Nice informative write-up, that is at odds with the politically correct Muslim appeasing lamestream media, which always blames ‘Israeli occupation’, while exonerating ‘Palestinian freedom fighters.’
I wish the article and its unimpeachable message are prominently aired in the willfully blind Western mainstream media.

    • carpe diem 36

they are not only ignorant and refuse to learn the truth but they are haters that will ignore the truth to defame Israel.

      • ahad_ha_amoratsim

As witness the couple of trolls who showed up, the long-time Jew-hater JohnWV and IrTravis.

  • The Facts

Deconstructing “mythology” is a firm example of Jewish academic Marxism.

  • kenaan you can know how cecure and happy the Palestinians are in Israel

  • Porkys2istan

Kindness is viewed as weakness by muslims. Every time you are kind to a ‘Palestinian’ they become more sure that they can eventually murder you.

    • carpe diem 36

like the famous case of the woman who had severe burns on her face and body from an accidental fire in her home and received excellent medical care at the Hadasah Hospital in Jerusalem and went home all cured. and then when she went through the checkpoint she was found with a suicide belt. when she was questioned she said she was going back to the Hadassah Hospital and was going to detonate it in the most crowded area of the hospital she could find. this is the true nature of both, the Israelis on one side and the Palestinians on the other. until the world recognizes this difference there will be no honest negotiations, and Mr. Kerry is the most ignorant and most ill will person of them all, but Obama is still more so.

      • Ken Kelso

Carpe thanks for posting this story. I just looked it up.
You are totally correct. These Palestinians are more demented then i thought.
A Story of How Deep the Palestinians Have Sunk Into the Moral Abyss
        Dr. Arieh Eldad
        May 20, 2011

I was instrumental in establishing the Israeli National Skin Bank, which is the largest in the world. The National Skin Bank stores skin for every day needs as well as for war time or mass casualty situations.

This skin bank is hosted at the Hadassah Ein Kerem University hospital in Jerusalem where I was the Chairman of plastic surgery. This is how I was asked to supply skin for an Arab woman from Gaza , who was hospitalized in Soroka Hospital in Beersheva, after her family burned her. Usually, such atrocities happen among Arab families when the women are suspected of having an affair.

We supplied all the needed Homografts for her treatment. She was successfully treated by my friend and colleague, Prof. Lior Rosenberg and discharged to return to Gaza. She was invited for regular follow-up visits to the outpatient clinic in Beersheva.

One day she was caught at a border crossing wearing a suicide belt. She meant to explode herself in the outpatient clinic of the hospital where they saved her life. It seems that her family promised her that if she did that, they would forgive her.

This is only one example of the war between Jews and Muslims in the Land of Israel. It is not a territorial conflict. This is a civilizational conflict, or rather a war between civilization & barbarism.

Bibi (Netanyahu) gets it, Obama does not.

        • T800

Actually, most of the Israelis have not “gotten it” either. They persist in fighting their wars only halfway, never finishing them,or totally defeating their enemy. Gaza is a fine example of that;they fought Operation Cast Lead because of constant rocket attacks, then later on,ANOTHER barrage of rockets is sent from Gaza into Israel.
Israel keeps dealing with Gaza in HALF measures. They should buy or build MOABs and drop one every time there’s a rocket or mortar attack from Gaza. MOAB is designed to destroy bunkers and tunnels like HAMAS uses to store their missiles and munitions. The shock and awe from the massive blast would also chill HAMAS and the Gazan people.HAMAS would do everything to keep its sects from launching attacks. I believe it would only take one or two MOABs to stop the attacks from Gaza permanently.Plus, use of MOAB doesn’t risk any Israeli soldiers or costly armored vehicles.
It’s time Israel did the job right.

BOTH sides keep on doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results each time.
The muzzies make attacks,Israel retaliates HALFway, doesn’t finish the job,and the muzzies lick their wounds, rest and rearm until the next time. A stupid cycle.

          • Ken Kelso

I totally agree, but what should Israel do when Hamas fires these missiles behind schools, mosques and hospitals.
            I say fire back.
If Hamas uses their people as human fodder thats their fault.
            Take these sickos out

          • Bamaguje

Sharon was wrong to pull Israel out of Gaza.
The Hamas Jihadist den should be re-annexed!!

          • Drakken

I would much prefer rolling arty barrages that take out grid squares and it is too bad Israel doesn’t have the capability of B-52’s to do some nice Arc Light strikes to take out a couple miles of Gaza to make the right impression.
You are correct, Israel keeps half azzing it where it concerns these bloody savages, time to take off the kiddy gloves and bring out the mailed fist and use liberally. Unfortunately, the muslims will never learn and your going to have to give them a taste of Carthage before they get it in their little inbred minds to cease and desist.

          • carpe diem 36

i believe they have such capacity but the world will still blame Israel for being killed by those animals.

          • ahad_ha_amoratsim

A strongly worded anonymous letter, just like Captain Tully in The Last Unicorn.

          • T800

a couple of MOABs(deliverable from C-130s that Israel already has) would do just fine, and also take out the tunnels and bunkers where the missiles and leadership are.

          • Drakken

MOABS are for area destroying and area denying. If you ever had the pleasure of seeing one go off, it is quite impressive.

          • carpe diem 36

as I remember the UN commission found Israel “over reacted” when it decided to put a stop to all those bombs thrown from the Gaza strip. if Israel does a bit more than just reacts and does not take out all the bombs and all the murderers the world is screaming. Israel cannot win in this kind of world, but if America had a different president than the POS we have now Israel would have been able to stop them once and for all and the world can scream all it wants. for some reason that no normal thinking person can understand the PA gets the sympathy and Israel gets the criticism. this is the kind of world we have, but I believe the world will one day come to realize that the Moselms, be they Palestinians, Iranians, Turks of whatever are not people like us and we must protect ourselves from them before they destroy the western world.

          • ahad_ha_amoratsim

Back in the late 1970’s, there was a terrific Dry Bones cartoon about Israel violating the well-known principle of international law that Israel has no right to act in self-defense.

            thank you for your support!!

          • T800

Sorry, but I do not buy that “Israel cannot win” if they go all-out on the “Palestinians” (after another missile attack). That sort of mindset is defeat in the making. it’s just the “same old, same old”,the present cycle of insanity.
Sure, much of the world’s nations would protest and perhaps cut off all trade with Israel, but the threat would be gone, and the other nations would eventually come around. the only important ones (WRT trade) are Europe and the US,anyways.

      • mikeh420

Just like the old tale of the Frog and the Scorpion.

  • DennisMets

I said this a few years ago while in the NAVY, ONE day there would be enough Muslims in the United States and in the congress to make Israel the enemy instead of our friend. Then they would destroy Israel, that day is very near, also once Muslims get a foot hold in the United States it will be an all out war on Christians. One of the biggest things that will happen is a mass conversion of blacks to ISLAM , do not fool your self black leaders have done a great job in keeping their followers and the black youth as haters of the devil whites. Onec blacks start converting to Islam a bloody war on white Christians will be on

    • ahad_ha_amoratsim

I get very nervous — and suspicious — when I see posts using the term ‘white Christians’.

    • carpe diem 36

blame obama for letting those who come here to destroy this beautiful country. Look around you and you see people with head covers in big numbers which we never saw before, they are America’s enemies, they build more Mosques from which to preach that America is their enemy. I blame obama and the demoCRAPS!!

  • Walter Sieruk

Yes, the Palestinians[Muslim/Arabs] are very disingenuous then they make the claim that they really want peace with Israel. They have proven they were and are lying, time and time again, because they have proven that by all their violence and all their murderous actions. As the Bible reads in Psalm 55:20,21. “Such men do violence to those at peace with them and break promised word: their speech is smoother then butter but their thoughts are of war.” [NEB]

  • Ken Kelso

    Great article Gideon.

The root cause of the conflict is the Palestinian’s continued incitement and refusal to commit themselves to “No more war and end of conflict”.
Rather PA demands concessions to end the state of Israel, while maintaining or threatening terrorism.

    • T800

Also, the US and West in general abets the Palestinians by not pressuring -them- to make peace, while they put a lot of pressure on Israel. They continually force Israel to agree to ceasefires after the “Palestinians” start another war or conflict,so the wars are never ended, they’re just put on “hold”. That’s all a ceasefire is,a pause. No victor,no loser,Nothing settled.
All a ceasefire does is allow the “Palestinians” to recover, rearm, and later, attack once again.

    • Gideon Israel

      thanks Ken

  • Ken Kelso

    As Isi Leibler wrote recently.

It is now time for the Obama administration to accept the reality that the PA has evolved into a criminal society. How else to define a regime which brainwashes kindergarten-age children into believing that Israel and the Jews are evil parasites, and continuously calls for the elimination of the Jewish state? This demonization of Israel is reinforced daily by the mullahs in the mosques, and by the PA-controlled media.

In addition, terrorists are sanctified, treated as heroes and awarded state pensions. There are obvious similarities between the Nazi brainwashing of the German people and what Arafat and now Abbas have imposed on the Palestinians.

Everyone should read this article by Frimet Roth who lost her daughter in the Sbarros massacre.

      • Ir Travis

Funny, EuroJews claim they have the DNA of these Semites and that DNA connection proves EuroJews are from these lands. Next the Eurojews claim the locals aren’t native to the land.

Of course DNA now shows EuroJews havent any Semitic DNA…and Jews then scream “science is wrong.” Hahaz.

No run along, theres a mohel looking to orally suction you.

    • ahad_ha_amoratsim

The locals are also not nice to the local Jews that were expelled from their homes with only the clothes on their back, after enduring centuries of oppression by their ‘neighbors’ in middle eastern and north African countries. And your snark about Khazars is a typical Jew-hater’s lie. If you don’t want to be taken as a Jew-hater, drop it from your repetoire.

Get it straight — its child sacrifice and animal butchering. Shees- troll can’t even keep his bile straight.

          • Ir Travis

No, it’s animal sacrifice as in when Jews have their ritual chicken slaughter on the Jewish New Years. This cult ritual is called The Kaparot Ceremony. First the Jews place their sins into a chicken, then slaughter the chicken, thereby cleansing the Jew of his sins committed during the previous year.

It’s also child butchery when they perform their meztizat b’peh cult ritual consisting of removing part of the male child’s member and then a cult leader performing oral suction on the child’s bleeding member.

Seems I can keep the Jews bile straight after all, doesn’t it?

Israel defines itself as a Jewish state, a racist state, and will never accept a non apartheid democracy with a Jewish minority. Continuing illegal annexations,
settlement expansion and ethnic cleansing have also precluded any negotiated two state solution. Justice may now be served only by imposing resolution just as involuntary, disruptive and humiliating to Israel as Israel has wreaked upon occupied Palestine for generations. The Jewish State must be forced, by whatever means necessary, to recognize an armed Palestine with externally enforced autonomy, eviction of all settlers, true contiguity encompassing Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem together, neither pinched nor parceled, and pay punitive reparations. American foreign policy may then again serve American interests, not the Jewish state’s paranoid pursuit of invulnerability, territorial conquest and racist empire in and beyond the Mideast.

    • ahad_ha_amoratsim

How many lies can you fit in one paragraph, John? It is true that Israel defines itself as a Jewish state. So what? Non-Jews have full rights of citizenship. There is not one other word of truth in your entire rant.

      • JohnWV

Israel’s Rabbinical Authority sorts Jew from goy with emphasis on maternal bloodlines and marriage. Those adjudged not quite Jewish are deported, incarcerated, disappeared, or assigned one of the multiple levels of “citizenship” which may restrict everything from license plate color to voting, living location, marriage, employment and due process.

        • ahad_ha_amoratsim

You are correct that rabbinic standards, based on matrilineal descent or conversion (NOT marriage) determine who is Jewish and who is not. All the other words in your post are lies, period.
When I asked how many lies you can fit into one post, did you take that as a challenge? I count at least 10 in your “Israel defines itself” post, at least 5 in your “Today’s Jews” post, and at least 12 in your “Israel’s Rabbinic Authority” post.

          • Ir Travis

And since 80% of EuroJews are descended from European Women, well how’s that “Jews come from the mommy” thing now?

    • Ken Kelso

5000 Jews live in the 22 Arab countries.
1.6 million Arabs live in Israel.
Can Jews move to the Arab countries? So stop with your lies.
Israel existed 15 centuries before Mohammad was born.

John wants to create another Arab state with no Jews in it and then calls Israel apartheid. You are the biggest fool.

Jerusalem has had a Jewish population majority since the late 1850s – that’s 130 years already, before ‘Palestinianism’ was invented:

Jews were expelled from East-Jerusalem by the Jordanian occupation at 1948. They lived in East-Jerusalem for thousands of years. They returned to their homes after Israel liberated the city in 67.Jerusalem was never in history the capitol of any Arab country. Jerusalem has been only the Capitol of Israel.

ISRAEL which is defending itself against Pan-Arabism, Arab imperialism and Arabization of the Middle East – that is the “problem AFP don’t like.

The real problem is global Arab/Moslem insistence to spread hate, violence, wars, terrorism, lies, false accusations against Jews and reducing Jews to subhumans or second class citizens – slaves or servants – without any human rights.

Jerusalem has been the Capitol only of Israel.
It was never the Capitol of any Arab country.

      • JohnWV

Today’s Jews are descendants of the few that survived holocausts
at the hands of Imperial Rome. Christianity predates these Rabbinic Jews. Over the centuries their breeding with southern Europeans diminished even Semitic facial contours. Any God given, racial/blood based, or historical claim to the Holy Land by today’s diluted Jews is inferior that of today’s Palestinians, today’s Arabs.

      • Ir Travis

Actually bright one, Jerusalem existed long before any nation named Israel appeared on the Earth.

  • c0mm0ncenz

a point of clarification regarding the mixing of the Arabs and Jews in Judea-Samaria (incorrectly called the West Bank by everyone):
The writer mentioned Mishor Adumim There is a total mixing of Arab Palestinians and Jews here. Arabs work in many businesses, and are managers and owners of many businesses here. Up the hill in Maale Adumim there is at least one Arab-owned store, which employees both Jews and Arabs. Everyone gets along on the surface, anyway. Why this example isn’t used as a model, I don’t know. Bibi doesn’t want to govern Arabs for some reason, but polls show 40-70% prefer Jewish sovereignty to “Palestinian”. Jewish leadership is better for everyone, so why is this so politically incorrect? Is it maybe because the powers that be don’t really seek peace, but strife? Get rid of the radical leadership and make the Arabs legal residents of Israel. Be rid of the false god of Democracy; residents can have total rights except the right to vote and serve in the Knesset. The Sovereignty Plan is doable, so let’s do it!

  • Ruth

Doesn’t this excellent article expose the very self-centered viewpoint of Islam, and the adherents of the Muslim faith? They are commanded by their god to be belligerent to all non-muslims, and kill them when the opportunity arises.
Until the leftist west, and the blinkered media understand this, there will be no progress in these ( or any other) peace talks involving Muslims.

  • PAthena

The so-called “Palestinians” are Arabs (Muslim) who got the name because of Soviet propaganda. The terms “Palestine” and “Palestinianian” were synonymous with “land of the Jews” and “Jew” from the time that the Roman Emperor Hadrian, after having defeated the last Jewish rebellion under Bar Kochba in 135 A.D., changed the name of Judea to “Palestina” in order to eradicate all memory of Judea; he outlawed Judaism and renamed Jerusalem “Aelia Capitolina,” “Aelius” being his gens name. After World War I, Great Britain was awarded the “Palestine Mandate” to be “the homeland of the Jews.”

Gamal Nasser of Egypt and the Soviet Union in Cairo in 1964 founded the “Palestine Liberation Organization” (P.L.O.), whose name shows its Soviet origins. It came to fame when it massacred the Israeli athletes at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, whence Arab enemies of Israel and Jews have been (mis)called “Palestinians,” with phoney history and propaganda.

    • Ir Travis

      1st – Palestinians don’t exist
      2nd – Palestinian means Jews!
3rd – wait another 10 years for the updated propaganda.

    • Ir Travis

I forgot to add that the term Palestine has been around some 3k years, which goes beyond your Soviet claim and your Bar Kochba reference.

And odd the Judeo-Bolshevik Lenin, prior to choosing the “goyim” name Lenin, name his self (during the Bolshevik revolution) after the Jewish leader of the Bar Kochba rebellion.

Since your denouncement is typically vague I am left to assume, please offer specifics in future denouncement so we can understand why you accuse of being the lie.

Lenin was Jewish — do you have a legitimate source?
            I didn’t think so.

Gideon complains Palestinians haven’t said nice things about Israel.

On average 1 Palestinian child has died every 3rd day for the last 15 years, Palestinians arent allowed to move freely, palestinians are subjected to calorie restrictions, Palestinians lived in these lands for thousands of years and did so pretty peacefully with the Jewish and Christian locals, and you complain they don’t compliment the people who are cleansing them from their lands? Arrest their 7 year olds? Kill their children?

How fucking uppity of you. Typical of your people though, one shouldn’t be surprised.
