Hating Valentine’s

[Editor's note: This article is reprinted from our Valentine's issue of Feb. 15, 2013. It has been updated and edited to fit this year's Day of Love.]

Today, Friday, February 14, is Valentine’s Day, the sacred day that intimate companions mark to celebrate their love and affection for one another. If you’re thinking about making a study of how couples celebrate this day, the Muslim world and the milieus of the radical Left are not the places you should be spending  your time. Indeed, it’s pretty hard to outdo jihadists and “progressives” when it comes to the hatred of Valentine’s Day. And this hatred is precisely the territory on which the contemporary romance between the radical Left and Islamic fanaticism is formed.

The train is never late: every year that Valentine’s comes around, the Muslim world erupts with ferocious rage, with its leaders doing everything in their power to suffocate the festivity that comes with the celebration of private romance. Imams around the world thunder against Valentine’s every year — and the celebration of the day itself is literally outlawed in Islamist states.

This year, the Indonesian Ulema Council in Dumai, Riau, and the Education, Youth and Sport Agency in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, issued a dire warning to people against celebrating Valentine’s Day, stating that the Day of Love “is against Islam.” This is because, as the Indonesian Ulema Council 2011 judgment explained, Valentine’s Day takes young people into a “dark world.”

Malaysia’s State mufti chief assistant Mat Jais Kamos keeps his mind focused on that dark world and so, a few days ago, he ordered young people to stay clear of Valentine’s Day: “The celebration emphasizes the relationship between two individuals rather than the love between family members or married couples,” he affirmed, and department officials backed up his command by distributing leaflets to remind Muslims of the 2006 ban on Valentine’s Day issued by the state fatwa council.

In Islamic Uzbekistan this year, several universities have seen to it that students actually sign contracts promising not to celebrate Valentine’s.

In Pakistan on Valentine’s Day last year, supporters of Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan’s main religious party, took to the streets in Peshawar to vehemently denounce the day of love. Demonizing it as “un-Islamic,” the Muslim protestors shouted that the day has “spread immodesty in the world.” Shahzad Ahmed, the local leader of the student wing of Jamat-e-Islami, declared that the organization will not “allow” any Valentine’s Day functions, warning that if Pakistani law enforcement did not prevent Pakistanis from holding such functions, that the Jamat-e-Islami would stop them “in our own way.” Khalid Waqas Chamkani, a leader in Jamat-e-Islami, calls Valentine’s a “shameful day.”

These Islamist forces in Pakistan cannot, of course, completely succeed in preventing couples from showing love to each other on this special day, and so many Pakistanis still cryptically celebrate Valentine’s Day and exchange presents in secret.

All these Islamic outcries against Valentine’s Day reflect myriad other efforts to suffocate the day of love throughout the Muslim War. For instance, in Aceh province in Indonesia every year, Muslim clerics issue stern warnings to Muslims against observing Valentine’s Day. Tgk Feisal, general secretary of the Aceh Ulema Association (HUDA), stated two years ago that “It is haram for Muslims to observe Valentine’s Day because it does not accord with Islamic Sharia.” He added that the government must watch out for youths participating in Valentine’s Day activities in Aceh. One can only imagine what happens to the guilty parties.

The Saudis consistently punish the slightest hint of celebrating Valentine’s Day. The Kingdom and its religious “morality” police always officially issue a stern warning that anyone caught even thinking about Valentine’s Day will suffer some of the most painful penalties of Sharia Law. This is typical of the Saudis of course. As Daniel Pipes has reported, the Saudi regime takes a firm stand against Valentine’s every year, and the Saudi religious police monitor stores selling roses and other gifts. They arrest women for wearing red on that day. Every year the Saudis announce that, starting the week of Valentine’s and until a certain day in the future, it is illegal for a merchant to sell any item that is red, or that in any way hints of being connected to Valentine’s Day. As Claude Cartaginese has reported, any merchant in Saudi Arabia found selling such items as red roses, red clothing of any kind (especially dresses), toys, heart-shaped products, candy, greeting cards or any items wrapped in red, has to destroy them or face the wrath of Saudi justice.

Christian overseas workers living in Saudi Arabia from the Philippines and other countries always take extra precautions, heeding the Saudis’ warning to them specifically to avoid greeting anyone with the words “Happy Valentine’s Day” or exchanging any gift that reeks of romance. A spokesman for a Philippine workers group has commented: “We are urging fellow Filipinos in the Middle East, especially lovers, just to celebrate their Valentine’s Day secretly and with utmost care.”

The Iranian despots, meanwhile, consistently try to make sure that the Saudis don’t outdo them in annihilating Valentine’s Day. Iran’s “morality” police consistently order shops to remove heart-and-flower decorations and images of couples embracing on this day — and anytime around this day.

Typical of this whole pathology in the Islamic world was a development witnessed back on February 10, 2006, when activists of the radical Kashmiri Islamic group Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of the Community) went on a rampage in Srinagar, the main city of the Indian portion of Kashmir. Some two dozen black-veiled Muslim women stormed gift and stationery shops, burning Valentine’s Day cards and posters showing couples together.

In the West, meanwhile, leftist feminists are not to be outdone by their jihadi allies in reviling — and trying to exterminate — Valentine’s Day. Throughout all Women’s Studies Programs on American campuses, for instance, you will find the demonization of this day, since, as the disciples of Andrea Dworkin angrily explain, the day is a manifestation of how capitalist and homophobic patriarchs brainwash and oppress women and push them into spheres of powerlessness.

As an individual who spent more than a decade in academia, I was privileged to witness this war against Valentine’s Day up close and personal. Feminist icons like Jane Fonda, meanwhile, help lead the assault on Valentine’s Day in society at large. As David Horowitz has documented, Fonda has led the campaign to transform this special day into “V-Day” (“Violence against Women Day”) — which is, when it all comes down to it, a day of hate, featuring a mass indictment of men.

So what exactly is transpiring here? What explains this hatred of Valentine’s Day by leftist feminists and jihadis? And how and why does it serve as the sacred bond that brings the radical Left and Islam together into its feast of hate?

The core issue at the foundation of this phenomenon is that Islam and the radical Left both revile the notion of private love, a non-tangible and divine entity that draws individuals to each other and, therefore, distracts them from submitting themselves to a secular deity.

The highest objective of both Islam and the radical Left is clear: to shatter the sacred intimacy that a man and a woman can share with one another, for such a bond is inaccessible to the order. History, therefore, demonstrates how Islam, like Communism, wages a ferocious war on any kind of private and unregulated love. In the case of Islam, the reality is epitomized in its monstrous structures of gender apartheid and the terror that keeps it in place. Indeed, female sexuality and freedom are demonized and, therefore, forced veiling, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, honor killings and other misogynist monstrosities become mandatory parts of the sadistic paradigm.

The puritanical nature of totalist systems (whether Fascist, Communist, or Islamist) is another manifestation of this phenomenon. In Stalinist Russia, sexual pleasure was portrayed as unsocialist and counter-revolutionary. More recent Communist societies have also waged war on sexuality — a war that Islam, as we know, wages with similar ferocity. These totalist structures cannot survive in environments filled with self-interested, pleasure-seeking individuals who prioritize devotion to other individual human beings over the collective and the state. Because the leftist believer viscerally hates the notion and reality of personal love and “the couple,” he champions the enforcement of totalitarian puritanism by the despotic regimes he worships.

The famous twentieth-century novels of dystopia, Yevgeny Zamyatin’s We, George Orwell’s 1984, and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, all powerfully depict totalitarian society’s assault on the realm of personal love in its violent attempt to dehumanize human beings and completely subject them to its rule. In Zamyatin’s We, the earliest of the three novels, the despotic regime keeps human beings in line by giving them license for regulated sexual promiscuity, while private love is illegal. The hero breaks the rules with a woman who seduces him — not only into forbidden love but also into a counterrevolutionary struggle. In the end, the totality forces the hero, like the rest of the world’s population, to undergo the Great Operation, which annihilates the part of the brain that gives life to passion and imagination, and therefore spawns the potential for love. In Orwell’s 1984, the main character ends up being tortured and broken at the Ministry of Truth for having engaged in the outlawed behavior of unregulated love. In Huxley’s Brave New World, promiscuity is encouraged — everyone has sex with everyone else under regime rules, but no one is allowed to make a deep and independent private connection.

Yet as these novels demonstrate, no tyranny’s attempt to turn human beings into obedient robots can fully succeed. There is always someone who has doubts, who is uncomfortable, and who questions the secular deity — even though it would be safer for him to conform like everyone else. The desire that thus overcomes the instinct for self-preservation is erotic passion. And that is why love presents such a threat to the totalitarian order: it dares to serve itself. It is a force more powerful than the all-pervading fear that a totalitarian order needs to impose in order to survive. Leftist and Muslim social engineers, therefore, in their twisted and human-hating imaginations, believe that the road toward earthly redemption (under a classless society or Sharia) stands a chance only if private love and affection is purged from the human condition.

This is exactly why, forty years ago, as Peter Collier and David Horowitz demonstrate in Destructive Generation, the Weather Underground not only waged war against American society through violence and mayhem, but also waged war on private love within its own ranks. Bill Ayers, one of the leading terrorists in the group, argued in a speech defending the campaign: “Any notion that people can have responsibility for one person, that they can have that ‘out’ — we have to destroy that notion in order to build a collective; we have to destroy all ‘outs,’ to destroy the notion that people can lean on one person and not be responsible to the entire collective.”

Thus, the Weather Underground destroyed any signs of monogamy within its ranks and forced couples, some of whom had been together for years, to admit their “political error” and split apart. Like their icon Margaret Mead, they fought the notions of romantic love, jealousy, and other “oppressive” manifestations of one-on-one intimacy and commitment. This was followed by forced group sex and “national orgies,” whose main objective was to crush the spirit of individualism. This constituted an eerie replay of the sexual promiscuity that was encouraged (while private love was forbidden) in We, 1984, and Brave New World.

Thus, it becomes completely understandable why leftist believers were so inspired by the tyrannies in the Soviet Union, Communist China, Communist North Vietnam and many other countries. As sociologist Paul Hollander has documented in his classic Political Pilgrims, fellow travelers were especially enthralled with the desexualized dress that the Maoist regime imposed on its citizens. This at once satisfied the leftist’s desire for enforced sameness and the imperative of erasing attractions between private citizens. The Maoists’ unisex clothing finds its parallel in fundamentalist Islam’s mandate for shapeless coverings to be worn by both males and females. The collective “uniform” symbolizes submission to a higher entity and frustrates individual expression, mutual physical attraction, and private connection and affection. And so, once again, the Western leftist remains not only uncritical, but completely supportive of — and enthralled in — this form of totalitarian puritanism.

This is precisely why leftist feminists today do not condemn the forced veiling of women in the Islamic world; because they support everything that forced veiling engenders. It should be no surprise, therefore, that Naomi Wolf finds the burqa “sexy.” And it should be no surprise that Oslo Professor of Anthropology, Dr. Unni Wikan, found a solution for the high incidence of Muslims raping Norwegian women: the rapists must not be punished, but Norwegian women must veil themselves.

Valentine’s Day is a “shameful day” for the Muslim world and for the radical Left. It is shameful because private love is considered obscene, since it threatens the highest of values: the need for a totalitarian order to attract the complete and undivided attention, allegiance and veneration of every citizen. Love serves as the most lethal threat to the tyrants seeking to build Sharia and a classless utopia on earth, and so these tyrants yearn for the annihilation of every ingredient in man that smacks of anything that it means to be human.

And so perhaps it is precisely on this Valentine’s Day that we are reminded of the hope that we can realistically have in our battle with the ugly and pernicious unholy alliance that seeks to destroy our civilization.

On this day, we are reminded that we have a weapon, the most powerful arsenal on the face of the earth, in front of which despots and terrorists quiver and shake, and sprint from in horror into the shadows of darkness, desperately avoiding its piercing light.

That arsenal is love.

And no Maoist Red Guard or Saudi fascist cop ever stamped it out — no matter how much they beat and tortured their victims. And no al-Qaeda jihadist in Pakistan or Feminazi on any American campus will ever succeed in suffocating it, no matter how ferociously they lust to disinfect man of who and what he is.

Love will prevail.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

truth is always hard to accept valentine days brings evil in the society

    • laura r

hello hasib, welcome to the USA. valentines day is here to stay.

    • Recondobilly

And stoning to death of a child because she joins facebook should inspire?
In Aafganistan old crones celebrate watching 10 year old boys dressed as women dance for their delight. I ask you what is your definition of evil is Hasib?

    • Recondobilly

So the stoneing to death of a child beacause she opened a facebook account does not depict evil? How about those in Afghanistan who celebrate 10 year old boy dressed as women? What in your world defines evil hasib?

    • unionville

Valentine’s day certainly seems to bring out the evil in Islamic societies.

    • Johnnie the Jew

What an earth would a muslim or any other god delusionist understand about the truth you mental myopic! Your idea of truth is based on superstition and suppression of the “truth” and a m. There aint anything out there except space. The religion of christianity and cult of Islam are two deluded peas from the same pod. Bye bye

      • Kebert Xela

The ‘all religions are the same’ routine is getting old. It is debilitating because it isn’t true. Fighting mystic bs with skeptic bs only empowers the mystics. Islam preaches hatred of life on earth, and endless murder in the way of Allah. Jains are afraid to step on a bug for fear of harming it. Are both irrational? Sure. Just in radically different ways with radically different consequences to non-believers.

      • DB1954

Johnnie is apparently convinced that he created himself. In any case, he gets very upset when some people say they believe in God, and equally so if they say they believe in Allah.

      • herb benty

Spew and run, eh? The Judeo-Christian Faith has nothing to do with Islam.

        • GopherNo83

Wow, you need to study further herb.

          • herb benty

The last book in the Bible states emphatically that the Revelation from God is complete and whoever adds or takes away from the words of prophecy, “in this book, will have his part taken away from the BOOK of LIFE.and if anyone adds anything, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And 600 years later, along comes Islam saying it’s all wrong… sure. Choose.

          • GopherNo83

What’s your point herb? You want to convince me Christianity is true and Islam is false???

Both of them are lies. Islam is the worst of them because it gave itself to right to force itself onto others through violence (to this day!). Oh, Christianity went there for a while a looooooong time ago.

So, faithful believer, go back and teach your children that evolution is wrong, that in reality, a sky fairy magically created everything, and all he cares for now is to be worhsipped by us all…

And if you don’t, wll, you burn in hell.

            How lovely.

          • gray_man

No, actually, YOU need to study further gopher.
Climb out of your hole, and wake up.
The Judeo-Christian Faith does not have anything to do with Islam.
In fact, islam is anti-God, and anti-Christ.

          • GopherNo83

It’s the other way around gray_man. Islam plagiarized Judeo-Christian scriptures and ideologies. Mohamed copy/pasted what suited him when he created Islam, to make it one of the most backwards and vile cults on the face of this earth.

That’s where the differences stop gray_man. You see, Islam is false in your eyes and Xstianity is false in Muslim’s eyes. Care to argue one falsehood against another? Both religious systems are based on sheepish followers gobbling-up what the religious establishment (aka the faith pushers) wants you to believe.

So, gray_man, be a good boy, follow the religious rules imposed on you by other HUMANS to earn the make-believe paradise you are fed.

Oh, and make sure to give ca$h to your local parish,,, They need it to live, after all, business is busines…

          • gray_man

“Islam plagiarized Judeo-Christian scriptures and ideologies. Mohamed copy/pasted what suited him when he created Islam, to make it one of the most backwards and vile cults on the face of this earth.”

            DUH.

            I just said that.

“Both religious systems are based on sheepish followers gobbling-up what the religious establishment (aka the faith pushers) wants you to believe.”

            Only an ignoramus believes that.
Christianity is based on the teachings of Christ.
            No more, no less.
Not on any corrupt religious establishment.
And I give no money to a local parish.

      • gray_man

“The religion of christianity and cult of Islam are two deluded peas from the same pod.”

Yeah … if you are stupid.

    • UCSPanther

Another Jihad nutjob sticks his head where it ain’t welcome…

      • Steven M Tenneshaw

        Which head?

    • NAHALKIDES

Accept Valentine’s Day and the goodness of love, or get out – or try to impose your inferior and destructive Islamic culture here and prepare to have your head handed to you.

    • herb benty

In the Judeo-Christian Faith, TRUTH sets us FREE. To be joyful, to love and be loved, and to stay clear of sin. Murder is evil.

  • Veracious_one
  • The Facts

Christian fundamentalists treat Valentine’s Day the same way. So do Jehovah’s Witnesses. A lot of religions exhibit fanatical intolerance. Haredis stab people and commit arson for weird things like women looking pretty outside.

    • Well Done

The Catholic Church’s official list of recognized saints, for February
14 gives only one Saint Valentine; a martyr who died on the Via Flaminia. “Fanatical intolerance” is a characteristic of the typical islamist/atheist/socialist/communist. Haven’t you been watching the 0bama regime – and most of its supporters? Most non-Islamic dislike of St. Valentine’s day stems from the latter’s tendencies to promote relationships outside of wedlock, while Islamists, as the articles states, forbid even thinking about it (?), or even displaying the color red, fergawdsakes. It’s just WAY lame to come on here and pretend all religions are the same! Not surprised there are folks willing to try, though, considering the short shrift given to any non-Islamic religion in schools nowadays…

      • The Facts

We share a dislike of fanaticism in all of the above groups.

        • SCREW SOCIALISM

          I dislike fanatic socialists.

    • NAHALKIDES

No Christians I’ve ever heard of treat Valentine’s Day the way Muslims do – enough with this “all religions are equally bad” routine. It went stale a long time ago.

    • GopherNo83

Of course they exhibit fanatical intolerance. Whatever extremist religious delusional morons don’t control, gets labeled as evil.

Remember – Religions have one objective – CONTROL. By whatever means.

Islam is the perfect, extreme example – 5 prayers per day, Ramadan, don’t eat pork, don’t drink alcohol… and countless others… All things that can be checked to make sure you stay in line.

      • laura r

i dont eat pork or drink alcohol, & im hardly “in line”. just blew your equation out of the water. ps i dont smoke, or wear shorts either.

      • herb benty

Islam is exactly that. In Christianity Jesus Christ sets us free.

        • GopherNo83

Funny herb. My grandmother, a pious Christian, was depressive in her last years of life because she could not get her local priest to “pardon” her for “preventing” pregnancy even though (after her last pregnancy almost killed her) another one meant death for her.

Yeah, Jesus Christ really stepped in and set her free. She died miserable under the impression that she was a failure in god’s eyes.

You can blame it on the priest herb, but that’s religion for you.

          • herb benty

Non- Christian religions demand you DO something to “earn” their gods approval. Our God went to great lengths to make sure He “did it all” and tells us to BELIEVE. That’s real, in your heart belief. That is sad what you said about your grandmother. I gather that is RCC, that forbids abortion at ANY cost, and I understand your anger. Jesus sets us free from the power of sin and we go to Him if we do sin, as it is written. I did not say He saves us from our wrong choices. There is a good religion and a wrong religion. Shalom.

          • gray_man

Actually, faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26.
Works are required. But works are not enough, that is where grace comes in.

          • herb benty

On Judgement Day if a man’s works are all “straw” vs “gold”, and his works Burn up, he will still be saved, as by fire. Hebrews. The disciples asked Lord Jesus, “what should we DO that we DO the works of God?” Jesus said, “BELIEVE in who the Father has sent”. ” Everyone should be ready with an answer for the HOPE that is within them”. I agree with you though that sitting and doing nothing, never letting on that you are a believer isn’t right. Justification by Faith alone is covered extensively in Romans, however we need to be ready for the Master’s hand so He can use us.Bless the Lord for His wonderful Grace to us!

          • gray_man

Not once did Jesus say works were unnecessary. He did say they were not enough. Every bit of guidance given by Christ to someone else was a verb. Works are a requirement.
As a Christian, you MUST DO !
            And doing is works.

          • herb benty

Romans. old boy. We are Justified by Faith, our righteousness is through faith in the risen Lord. Romans: 4: 5 “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness APART FROM WORKS”. Works are important, but are not the reason we are justified. Amen

          • gray_man

James 2:14-26. sonny. Faith without works is dead.

I guess you believe that a person can claim to have faith in Christ, and then continue to sin. Make no effort to follow the commandments. Eat, drink, and by merry, for tomorrow he will die.
In fact, not even ask for forgiveness, because that would be effort (work) on their part. And on judgement day, all sins will be absolved because of faith?
Then explain to me why have judgment day at all.
I guess, in your mind, all the sins of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Muhammad, to name just a few will be forgiven and forgotten, just because they believe.
You are fooling yourself, sonny, if you thinks you are not required to do good works.
However, no one said works were enough by themselves for salvation. Faith will save you, after all the works you have done.
The gospel is not a free ride.
Every time Jesus spoke to another, he told them to go do good works.
The words of Jesus out-weigh anything written in Romans, sonny.
Jesus came not to take away the law, but to fulfill the law, and the law is works.
From the mouth of Jesus the two greatest commandments both involve works.
Following the commandments is doing works.
Preaching the gospel is doing works.
Being an example to others is good works.
All of those are required, by Jesus.
We are saved through faith, AFTER all the good works we have done. Works are required.
            Amen.

In fact (not to change the subject) here is something for you to wrap your mind around. Do you not think Lucifer, who became Satan, and the 1/3 of the host of heaven who rebelled, and were cast out of heaven, had any faith?
They had both knowledge and faith, but their works are going to doom them to eternal torment.

          • herb benty

We are Justified through Faith, the Bible makes that clear, I showed you that plainly. A person who is truly saved, will DO good works. But the “saving” is all God and not of ourselves, HE makes that clear as day. You put Faith in Jesus Christ AFTER loving your neighbour. The Protestant Revolution was on this exact point. “Justified through Faith, and not of yourselves, it is a gift from God” Faith leads to being born again, with ” God in you, the hope of glory”. And ready for good works.”Knowing this first, that NO prophecy of Scripture is of ANY private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”. Including ROMANS. Your bluster about Hitler, Pol Pot and Satan is ridiculous.

          • gray_man

The Bible makes it clear you must do works.
But even more of an authority than the Bible, is God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Son.
Both make it clear you must do works.
Try reading the ten commandments for starters.
The first and greatest commandment is works.
The second greatest commandment is also works.
Acknowledging God as the Father is works.
Acknowledging Jesus as the savior is works.
Following the ten commandments is work.
Following the sermon on the mount is works.
Not once did Jesus say to anyone that works were unnecessary.
Yes … I say again …. over and over … clean the wax out of your ears and listen closely. You ARE saved by grace. But in order to be saved by grace you must perform works.
            You must be baptized.
            You must pray.
            You must confess your sins.
            You must repent.
            You must keep the commandments.
You must follow in his footsteps.
            etc.
            Just like every Apostle did.
            Those are all works.
You can sit there in your rocking chair. Farting and picking your nose while rocking back and forth.Thinking you have to do nothing but have faith, if you want.
Be warned, you are in for a terrible surprise.

          • gray_man

Hmmm … such a childish way to see things.

          • GopherNo83

Hmmm… such a factual way of seeing things.
But I understand your confusion – being a “believer” and “recognising facts” are mutually exclusive.

          • gray_man

“being a “believer” and “recognising facts” are mutually exclusive.”

Congratulations ! The most stupid comment today !
Which, by the way, you misspelled.

I guess you don’t believe in the facts you recognize.

Hardly the most stupid comment today gray, all believers voluntarily ignore facts that go against scriptures. That’s a fact.

After Noah’s flood, where did the different races come from, caucasian, blacks, chinese, … How did humanity survive on such a small gene pool? Why did god voluntarily keep genetically-transmitted diseases like e cystic fibrosis? How did lions and tigers survive on only a pair of each prey? How did the antelopes survive if they were eaten by lions… What about insects? Ect…

Sorry for the typo, english is not my first language.

          • gray_man

“all believers voluntarily ignore facts that go against scriptures. That’s a fact.”

            No, that is nonsense.
I’m a believer in God and Jesus Christ.
            And I don’t ignore facts.
            Therefore your statement is false.

I could just as easily say all “non-believers” ignore historical facts in the Bible.
And it would be equally untrue.

Speaking of Noah; if you had ever bothered to read (and more importantly – study) the Bible you would know that the only areas mentioned in the Bible are in the Middle East, with perhaps some of Greece
Roughly the area of the Babylonian Empire.
With Iraq in the center and surrounding areas.
Not Europe, Not South America, Not North America, Not the Arctic nor Antarctica.
We know this, for example, when the Bible says that Cirrus controlled the world. Or numerous other kings “controlled the world”.
            Much like Alexander.

The story of Noah is not meant to be an historical fact of the entire world, as we know it, becoming flooded.
It is a story about a man placing his faith in God despite society and what appears to him to be common sense.
In fact there very well may have been a man named Noah who built a boat and saved his family and his animals in a localized flood.
A localized flood which had nothing to do with animals or people from other continents.
A localized flood which destroyed the people of the area, just like Mount Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii.
The locals might have thought it was the “end of the world” when it in fact was not.

WOW, 10 lies in 3 lines. All true Christians enjoy Valentine’s Day, it’s harmless after all. JW is a cult. Haredis don’t do that. Obama/Soros paying you, or are you just a mercenary.

  • Dyer’s Eve

You know what? Religion hates mirth, laughter and fun in the land. Why? Because ‘fun’ can’t be controlled. Every religion is serious. It has to be. Why? So they can control us. Frankly, I don’t give a stuff about anyone’s opinions on this website, or anywhere else. Why? Because I’m sick and tired. I’m tired of reading about tragedy. I’m tired of reading about death. I’m tired of reading about who killed whom, or did what to whom with various apparatus. I’m sick of death and I’m sick to death! Humanity has been granted free will. So what? So what do we chose? Slavery. That’s what religion is. Humans embrace religion because they’re wanabee slaves. Preach to the high heavens about ‘freedom’ all you like. But you don’t want it. What you want is order. Someone to boss you around. Feed you tidbits ‘about God’. Rubbishy twaddle about ‘ethics’ while your neignbours’ children are being raped. All in the name of some made up god. I want to meet God. If the bastard even exists, I’m gonna smash him!

    • Johnnie the Jew

You’re in a huge queue wanting to serve it up to the non existent sky fairy i’m afraid my friend. As for free will that’s a load of BS too. Cognitive science has committed that one to the dustbin of delusion too. Long live science. Check Victor Stenger – God The Failed Hypothesis for a bit of solace from the high toned mumbo jumbo so rampant in Idiotlam and Christianity. As for Valentines Day itself. If it offends the degenerate retards of the sand peoples death cult (not a religion!) then that’s great by me

GOFOR is similar to the twits in the article, anger that we are loved by our Maker and more anger that we love Him. Leftism is insanity. God Bless.

          • GopherNo83

Ignorance, the tool of Religions, is way past its time. We need to awaken the human masses to the falsehoods that ALL the major world religions are still, for their own selfish needs, pushing on humans.

The religious “pushers” (aka imams, priests and rabbis) living off the faithful, are trading in lies, false promises and false hope. All based on scriptures that too often, show the human emotions and evil desires that are at their source.

            Enough is enough.

          • herb benty

Our Father is the Creator, you don’t have a clue.

          • GopherNo83

          • herb benty

Look up the most widely accepted law of science-Causality. I’ll paraphrase, For every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. If something occurs. the cause had to be equal or greater. In other words, that infinittismal speck, less than the size of a neutron, did NOT cause the , Big Bang. and become our Universe. Whatever caused our Universe with it’s unimagineable POWER, was CAUSED by an equal or GREATER POWER- THAT is our wonderful Creator God who thankfully loves us. Evolution closes minds and inquirery, makes dullards out of bright students.

How, exactly are those in that queue to ‘serve it up’ to a creature that doesn’t exist? What does it say about cognitive science that I know better than to resent what doesn’t exist but Dyer and Johnnie don’t? Different phenomenal realities? Perhaps the ‘post normal science’ hasn’t worked out that detail.

        • DB1954

Not even close to accurate description of Judeo-Christian theology. But answer please: where did everything that exists in the universe come from? I mean quite simply, everything; where did it all come from?

This was Einstein’s answer to the question of whether he believed in God: “Well, I didn’t create myself.”

          • fritzidler

The universe requires no causal explanation, or the matter within it. Just as God does not require one. Existence exists. And so does God. If one prefers to think of it only as nature, the same applies. I define God as nature, and therefore as science; the struggle to understand both.

          • DB1954

I’m not sure we see eye to eye on this one, but that’s okay. At least you answered, whereas the atheist faction here did not. In all likelihood, that’s because they can’t explain the existence of the material universe unless they first acknowledge the existence of a creator (God), as did Thomas Jefferson.

        • Jakareh

If that had been the extent of Socrates’ debating ability, nobody would know his name today.

Where did the universe come from? I mean, everything that exists; where did it all come from?

      • herb benty

Apostate Jew talking for Christianity? The Jewish and Christian Holy Scriptures are true. No free will? Science isn’t alive and we have nothing to do with Islam.

      • fritzidler

Attacks on free will is one of the most curious tenets to come out of the left. I do not know of many liberals who do not at least question free will, if not deny it outright. What makes me wonder, if they really believe that, why do they insist Christians, conservatives, libertarians, capitalists, and so forth, change their minds about everything, and agree with them?

        • DB1954

It seems they’re compelled to control all, something like … dare I say, demi-gods?

    • patrioticCanadian

Wow please be intelligent. I know it’s really hard for you god hating atheist. Just remember you would have no morals without judao christian founding.

      • GopherNo83

Actually, pC, we can have morals without religions. having good morals has NOTHING to do with wether or not a god exists or not – the centerpoint of religions.

I am an atheist, but not a hater. I raise my children with a moral code based on universal respect of others, respect of our planet and respect for the other life forms around us. Religions only stuff us with the first item. Look at where we are now pC. Religions are too concerned with the fake god and the fake afterlife to care about anything else, hence our absolute disregard for anything that does not get us into heaven.

Now YOU be intelligent and start thinking for two seconds about the brainwashing and conditioning you have been subjected to that made you the person you are – a religiously deluded, angry and intolerant person.

        Peace.

        • DB1954

Barack H. Obama II has convinced himself of exactly the same. But I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

        • herb benty

You sound like a garden variety leftist atheist, a very angry one at that, God gave Moses the Law, It contained our modern laws, murder, adultery etc.LOOK at the kids NOW with no God! Secularism is creating savages,PC is right, you are wrong sonny. The Bible sets you free, as Jesus said. There is no brainwashing or conditioning except in your tiny leftist skullcave. Wake up, pinko!

          • GopherNo83

You’re telling us that, if it was not for the Bible telling us otherwise, our modern laws might ok morder? Humans needed the bible to figure that out? Same goes for cheating on your spouse? I mean, someone gives you their trust in love… but before “god”, “Moses’ and the ten commandments, we could not figure out for ourselves that breaking that trust is not ok?

You don’t understand that when religions came about, they use COMMON SENSE and Mutual respect to draft the make-believe godly laws to govern us?

            You really don’t get that?

          • herb benty

When God gave the Law, the pagan world was very violent and wicked. You can’t “project” modern behavior to ancient savages.

        • Annika

Pretty obsessed in your own boxed up concepts aren’t you?
This passionate expression might just be your own religion. I was raised an atheist in (nearly) atheist France, and recognize you thoughts as the ones that raised me. Thank God I moved to America to find a people who are more enlightened. Now France is overrun by muslims, French girls are even more promiscuous than Americans, many French natives are converting to islam, they elect a president who fathered 4 illegitimate kids with one gal, then dumped her for 2 different concubines. Marvelous isn’t it? what the absence of a strong compass can do for a nation – and no – an atheist “moral compass” doesn’t withstand the test of time.

          • GopherNo83

How again is your need for a strong moral compass (which I fully agree to) justifies believing in a Creator God?

      • Thereisnogod

How can an atheist hate something that doesn’t exist. Religion is nothing but childish nonsense that modern man should have grown out of by now.

        • DB1954

The moral equivalence advocates would have us believe that there are at this moment thousands of Christians who have bombs strapped to themselves for the purpose of vaporizing innocent men, women, and children. When Christians do wrong, we believe that God chastens us for it. The unpardonable sin, mentioned in the Christian scriptures, is doing evil in the name of God.

    • Seek

Much as Islam despises fun, radical orthodox Christianity and Judaism have never been that far behind. John Calvin’s Geneva colony, for example, practically wrote the book on how to achieve and enforce a joyless daily life.

It in the nature of orthodoxy to suppress spontaneity (also known as “sin”) as a tool of social control.

      • laura r

these are fringe cults. only the fringe of the jewish fringe is that extreme. yes they are all similar.

      • Lightbringer

Oh, I wouldn’t say that. We Orthodox Jews and the more observant Christians seem to know how to have a good time; we just don’t put fun above the important stuff, like serving the God we love. I for one greatly enjoy a few hours spent listening to a symphony orchestra or attending an opera, or an evening spent with a great secular book. Maybe my highbrow entertainments don’t seem like fun to you, but they hardly reinforce the stereotype of the dour religious person.

    • herb benty

Mirth, laughter, fun, love and joy, unspeakable joy, IS Christianity- c’mon in,

      • GopherNo83

What love indeed. Look at your scriptures:

Kill People Who Don’t Listen to Priests
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

        Kill Witches
You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

        Kill Homosexuals
“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

        Kill Fortunetellers
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

        Death for Hitting Dad
Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

        Death for Cursing Parents
        1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

        2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

        Death for Adultery
If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

        Death for Fornication
A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)

Death to Followers of Other Religions
Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

        Kill Nonbelievers
They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

        Kill False Prophets
If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, “You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord.” When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB)

        • herb benty

God was calling out a people(Israel) to carry out HIS plan for the whole world. Everything you listed, the world was doing- and worse. The Law was to show that people, in their fallen state, cannot keep the Law and our need for a Savior. The purpose of the Law was to bring Jesus Christ( God’s Son) into the world. Satan worship(Baal) and witchcraft was endemic, and God would not allow the Israeli’s to harbour that evil. The Law was onerous for a very good reason.

    • Skeptic7

Wow, you need to get out. My faith is filled with music, art and dancing – especially dancing. Our religious university has the #1 Ballroom Dance Team in the world. The campus has a magnificent art museum. The acapella choir is ranked internationally.

There is no true freedom without restraint.

Where is the “freedom” in sexual promiscuity when it leads to abortion, diseases, and broken families, and degenerate children who turn to crime and gangs to fill the holes in their lives?

Where is the freedom is drinking and drugging when it leads to destroyed lives, and damaged bodies?

      • GopherNo83

You just hit the nail on the head about the religion-induced problems in the world. You said: “My Faith”. You see, what if “Your Faith” is different than “another’s faith” and that “another” person proselytize to try and “save” your eternal soul?

I mean, Islam is out to conquer and convert all living things… Seems your faith is incorrect in the eyes of a Muslim… And look at what Chrisitanity did to native Americans. Seems missionaries of the time though that “Their faith” was wrong and they needed to be saved.

But you’re probably ok with conversions to “your faith” but not to “another’s faith”.

  • urbanvrwcmom

The love of Christ isn’t in Islamofascists, hence their hatred of St. Valentine’s Day. By the way, St. Valentine was a godly man who loved the Lord. Happy St. Valentine’s Day to all the readers and posters here and Mr. Glazov too!

a few years ago, we knew very little about islamic culture. now we read about this 24/7. is this because of its influence on the western world? the radical feminists have been trying to ban or discourage anything & every thing since day one. maybe someday these 2 groups will merge & work together. anything is possible.

  • Hesperado

Jamie Glazov’s critiques of the hard Left ring rather hollow, when he has co-dependantly enabled, if not actively supported, his colleague David Horowitz’s cynical use of the smear term “Mcarthyism” against a valiant ally, Diana West — a usage which Leftists have developed for decades by which to smear and demonize their sociopolitical opponents. Indeed, tThe PC MC culture at large has been so successful in demonizing Joe McCarthy, even anti-Leftists like Horowitz and his colleagues (e.g., Ron Radosh and Conrad Black, who shamefully trafficked in the smear of West’s position as “McCarthyism on steroids”) seem to have a natural reflex to play along or, at best, to anxiously try to distance themselves from the “unfortunate tactics” of that great senator from Wisconsin.

    As Diana West has written:

“Freshman Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is just the latest in a long
series of public figures to be reviled for “McCarthyism” following his
recent questioning of Chuck Hagel, President Obama’s nominee for
secretary of defense. The response? Conservatives have rushed to defend
their own against the charge. To understate the case, that’s not enough.
It’s time to debunk McCarthyism itself.”

  • NAHALKIDES

Glazov does an admirable job of demonstrating the psychological roots of the Islamo-Left alliance’s hatred of love between two human beings. The State can brook no rival institutions, not religion and not (in the non-Muslim West) marriage and family. Jamie didn’t dwell on this point, but apparently in the Muslim world marriage is made to serve Islam, and of course the polygamy aspect destroys it as an institutional expression of love between two only.

I have no idea if the Islamic world hates VD because o fwhat hse has listed. But here is why I don;t like VD to be practices in India: Being an alien idea, it has been appropriated by men and boys to sexually exploit young girls in India.

School girls who are easily swept off their feet tend to be easier prey than grown women who are circumspect about who they ‘love’. The VD presents a great opportunity to get past the normal social barriers that prevent easy access. It is not right to think of this as “love”. This is no more than pedophiles exploiting children. This is why I am against this VD in India.

I have no problem if it is practiced in countries where it has been around for centuries – wait – is there such a place? I guess not it was after all most likely another ‘Hallmark’ invented commercial ritual that has morphed into a ‘religious’ one!

St Valentin is not and never was about sexual “liberation”. It celebrates love and affection between two people of any age who have freely chosen each other, whether or not they have a sexual relationship. This type of strong, enduring feeling that is impervious to the passing of time and will even defy death is indeed threatening to any totalitarian ideology. So is any other type of love, whether for God, family, friends, country or fellow men in general.

On the other hand, as the article points out, the same totalitarian ideologies have been promoting sexual promiscuity under the guise of “love” to further their own ends.

What makes you think you are going to “paradise”?
Belief is one of the requirements.
Only fools think they get something for nothing.

    • GopherNo83

Ok, so Paradise is only for the believers… So any human not in contact with your definition of faith is sent straight to hell, regardless of the quality of life he/she led? That’s the god you believe in.

So, there must be hundreds of millions of humans (if not billions) being tortured right now, burned and tormented by god himself because they were not believers – simply because they were believers.

So your torturing god, the same god that built HELL and creatd satan is actually a gang leader. You’re in, you’re ok. You’re not in, then you burn.
