Vampires of Jihad

ISISWhile the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) shocks and horrifies the world with videos of mass executions and beheadings, ISIS terrorist Rabie Shehada, also known as “the Palestinian slayer,” has stepped forward to give appalled onlookers a clearer insight into the evil that inspires him and his colleagues. In a video he recently posted online, Shehada earnestly and quite proudly explained:

“I swear we are a people who love death for the sake of God just as you love to live. I swear we are a people who love drinking blood. We came to slaughter you.”

Let it never be said that Shehada ever suppressed his charm.

This particular ISIS vampire has come a long way from studying mechanical engineering at a college in Nazareth Illit in Israel. As a Muslim who clearly didn’t overlook the Qur’anic command to wage war on unbelievers, it’s understandable why developing refrigerators and microwaves didn’t really cut it for him when he entertained visions of his own glorious Islamic future. And so, as his Islamic fate would have it, the young engineering student quit university and traveled through Turkey to get to Syria to join the “moderate” rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA).

It appears the FSA came up a little short for Shehada in terms of what he thought a true Jihadi should be doing with his time. So he quickly moved on to bigger and brighter things: he joined the ranks of ISIS, where he adopted the a.k.a. “Abu Musaab al-Safouri,” named after the village of Safouri near Nazareth.

Shehada was now clearly liberated from the distracting and draining routines of developing power plants and factories; Allah had now bestowed upon him the blessing of being able to spend his days in the productive, fulfilling and cheerful way that every good and obedient Muslim is obligated to do by the Qur’an: executing and beheading the enemies of Islam and reveling in their blood.

While many observers might be mystified and startled by the pronouncements of Jihadi warriors such as Rabie Shehada, those who are knowledgeable of the practices of Jihad and the ideological foundations on which they rest are well aware that the behavior of someone like Shehada is a completely normal and everyday thing in the world of Islamic warfare.

To grasp the reality of Shehada’s Islamic odyssey, one must begin with the understanding that Islamic jihad has a unique religious component, sharing with secular totalitarianisms (Stalin, Mao, Khmer Rouge, etc.) the impulse to create an earthly paradise (through Sharia) by washing the slate clean with human blood. Working towards enforcing the kingdom of Allah on earth, the greatest obligation of the Jihadist, like that of the believer in Communism and Nazism, is to submit his will to the deity, to kill “the enemy” and, if the opportunity ideally arises, to give his life for the deity. Martyrdom and suicide become the favored expressions of this submission and of the radical desire for perfection. (It is precisely this ingredient that has so attracted the Western Left to Jihad, a phenomenon explained in my book, United in Hate). In the Islamic context of Jihad, therefore, this goal and impulse logically engenders the craving for, and practise of, spilling human blood – which can also include the ritual of drinking it (while eating the organs of the corpse and inflicting all varieties of mutilation against it.)

Thus, when one witnesses the actions of ISIS, one witnesses the phenomenon of pure Islamic Jihad. It is a death cult; Jihad represents a craving for death. The works of Islamism’s Godfather, Sayyid Qutb (1906–1966), documents and illuminates this craving perfectly, showing how the obligation of the Jihadi is not only to take the lives of others, but also his own life, in a process that necessitates the spilling of human blood in every sphere.

Qutb’s massive thirty-volume commentary, In the Shade of the Quran, has had enormous influence on today’s Muslim warriors worldwide. For Qutb, a non-Islamic state has no right to exist. In his view, which is faithfully founded on Islamic texts and teachings, violent jihad is necessary to achieve the implementation of Islamic law worldwide, and the death of the Islamic warrior is a crucial element of this process. Qutb consistently stressed that it was necessary to submit oneself to the totality (Allah), that truth could not be reached by spiritual vehicles alone, and that violence was critical for the cause.

In his profound study of Qutb’s writings, Paul Berman outlines, in Terror and Liberalism, how Qutb linked truth and martyrdom and how, in so doing, he illuminated the Islamist synthesis of the totalitarian idea and the death cult. Berman writes:

Qutb’s doctrine was wonderfully original and deeply Muslim, looked at from one angle; and, from another angle, merely one more version of the European totalitarian idea. And if his doctrine was recognizable, its consequences were certainly going to be predictable. Qutb’s vanguard, if such a vanguard ever mobilized itself, was going to inaugurate a rebellion—this time, a rebellion in the name of Islam, against the liberal values of the West. (Totalitarian movements always rise up in rebellion against the liberal values of the West. That is their purpose.) And rebellion was bound to end in a cult of death. For how were any of Qutb’s goals to be achieved? What could it possibly mean to treat the entire Muslim population of the world, apart from the followers of his own movement, as jahili barbarians who were bringing about the extermination of Islam? . . . The successes of the Islamist revolution were going to take place on the plane of the dead, or nowhere. Lived experience pronounced that sentence on the Islamist revolution—the lived experience of Europe, where each of the totalitarian movements proposed a total renovation of life, and each instead created the total renovation of death.

For Jihadists like Shehada and his ISIS comrades, therefore, killing is survival. For pure Islam to breathe oxygen, enemies are mandatory, and Islamic warriors can only live as long as they kill. In his book, The Mind of Jihad, the French-born strategist Laurent Murawiec explains the horror of this death cult, summarizing the ideology’s overriding theme as “I kill, therefore I am.” In his study of the Jihadist’s mindset, Murawiec writes,

“[T]he means has become the end. The blood of the enemy renews the identity of the lynch mob. . . . Death is not an instrumentality—like the death of the enemy on the battlefield—it has become an end in itself.”

Murawiec points out that the suicide-killing manual left behind by Mohammed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 attacks, included a provision commanding that before going on his mission, the Islamic warrior must make sure his knife is sharp: “you . . . must not discomfort your animal during the slaughter.” The animal being referred to is the non-Muslim whom the Muslim is instructed to kill. As Murawiec observes, we see here the element of human sacrifice for the sake of pleasing Allah.

Thus, a typical example of the importance of spilling human blood in this type of sacrifice, and which explains the rationale behind what ISIS terrorist Rabie Shoudrie is doing and boasting about, was the assassination in 1971 of Jordan’s prime minister, Wasfi al-Tell, by PLO terrorists. As al-Tell lay dying on the marble floor of the Sheraton Hotel in Cairo, one of the terrorists knelt down and began lapping up his blood (Murawiec, pp. 18-19). Murawiec cites a long sequence of such incidents of blood-worship in this Islamic venture and industry of death.

In the process of killing its “enemies,” this death cult, like all death cults, naturally eats its own children. This is why Islam devours Muslims along with non-Muslims — and why commentators who argue that Islamic Jihad cannot be Islamic because Muslims are also its victims have a completely ignorant (and often deliberate) misunderstanding of what Islamic Jihad really is.

For the Jihadist, as for his Nazi and Communist totalitarian cousins, the goal of life is not to treasure it—and definitely not to utilize it to pursue individual happiness or personal fulfillment. The goal of life is to lose it in the very act of eradicating the enemy. This is why the idea of America, and its sacred principle of “the pursuit of happiness”—embedded in the Declaration of Independence—is anathema to Islam, just as it is anathema to Nazism and Communism (as well as to the radical Left). The pursuit of happiness implies that the individual and his will matter. An individual’s pursuit of happiness, moreover, implies that the world can be accepted for what it is—and human beings can be accepted for what they are. This is a deadly violation of the totalist code, since it contradicts the necessity of destroying the world and rebuilding it. Personal happiness is betrayal. Rage is a glorious commitment to the cause.

This psychotic mindset explains why Jew-hatred is such an important component of Jihad, as of most other death cults. Two of the most outstanding Jewish characteristics are the love of life and the enduring struggle to survive. For Jihadists, as for Nazis and Communists, this is an egregious transgression against their faith. To Qutb, a truly “contemptible characteristic of the Jews”—as identified by the Koran—was their “craven desire to live, no matter at what price, regardless of quality, honor and dignity.”

It was Algerian militant Ali Benhadj who perhaps most powerfully and succinctly crystallized Islam’s central tenet of death serving to purify the earth. He stated:

If faith, a belief, is not watered and irrigated by blood, it does not grow. It does not live. Principles are reinforced by sacrifices, suicide operations and martyrdom for Allah. Faith is propagated by counting up deaths every day, by adding up massacres and charnel-houses. It hardly matters if the person who has been sacrificed is no longer there. He has won. (Quoted in Berman, p.120.)

Rabie Shehada’s thirst for human blood should not, therefore, be much of a surprise to anyone. The Jihadist appetite for blood has been transparently evident in the long and vicious history of Islamic Jihad, just as it was horrifyingly conspicuous on September 11, 2001, when nineteen Jihadists “won” by crashing commercial airliners into America’s heavily populated buildings. The horror of that day testified to the mind-numbing fact that when Maulana Inyadullah, a member of al-Qaeda, bragged that “the Americans love Pepsi Cola, we love death,” he meant it.

And when Rabie Shehada brags about loving death “for the sake of God” and that his gang of Jihadi vampires is coming to slaughter us and drink our blood, he means it.

His threats are honest.

What can one suggest in front of this all embracing death cult ? Claim that it is not Islam , as the USA government does , point out its imminent danger to all humanity ,as only Israel does , or just dismiss it till its adherents come up with something better ?

“Americans love Pepsi Cola, we love death” – Maulana Inyadullah, Al-Qaeda member.

    Really??
Then why do Hamas Jihadis shamelessly cower behind women and children to provoke “Israeli atrocities”?
If they love death as much they claim they do, they would fearlessly face their infidel adversaries, rather than cower shamelessly behind women and children… Or hide in caves like Osama bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri.
What these cowards really mean by “we love death” is “we love inflicting death on other people.”

“This psychotic mindset explains why Jew-hatred is such an important component of Jihad… Two of the most utstanding Jewish characteristics are the love of life and the enduring struggle to survive” – Jamie Glazov.

Islam’s Jew hatred is rooted in the refusal of the Jews of Medina to endorse the bogus prophethood of Mohammed.
Mo’ craved Jewish endorsement because this whole business of prophethood was a Jewish tradition. Consequently he initially tried to get Jewish support, by getting early Muslims to adopt some Jewish religious practices including praying towards Jerusalem.
Despite rejectionist claims by Arab/Palestinians today, there are even verses in the Quran (Q 5:21, 7:137) asserting Allah bestowed the promised land to Israel.

But Medina’s Jews were not impressed. By denying Mo’ the recognition he sorely desired, the Jews were in effect saying Mo’ was a fake, thereby delegitimizing him among his Muslim follwers.
The narcissist megalomanic prophet wannabe couldn’t take that, so he changed the Qiblah (direction of prayer) to Mecca, then gradually massacred, raped and evicted Jews from his fiefdom… then started

Wasn’t there something at the time that the people of the Hijaz or the Arabian peninsula felt left out, because they never had a prophet like the Jews or the Persians?

Persia controlled the north and east cost of the Arabian peninsula at the time. there was a lot of Persian influence in Arabia. The person who suggested digging trenches for the Battle of the Trenches was a Persian slave or former slave of Persian extraction. Point is that the Arabians knew something about Persian culture as well as Jewish culture. So they had heard about all the prophets from various peoples in the area of the fertile crescent.

And they had yet to produce one.

I could hardly believe it when I heard about the lynching of 2 Israelis in Ramallah in 2000 during which some of their body parts were eaten by their muslim slaughterers; or about the ritualistic blood drinking reported by a member of boko haram last year; or even about the ashura rituals. Now I know that these bloody practices were reinstated by the jihadis as early as 1971 with the Wasfi al Tell murder – if not even earlier, who knows, in this the latest islamist uprising of the 20th century. Apparently even the bloodthirsty cult of Uitzilopochtli wasn’t as vicious.

If these blood drinkers believe that they will terrorize the West into submission with their repugnant practices, they are sadly mistaken. The more we know about it, the more our determination grows to destroy them. Their supporters the media and the useless idiots of the islamo-socialist kind are wasting their time trying to wash out all this blood.

“The more we know about them, the more our determination grows to destroy them” – Atikva.

Can you really say that about Western leaders like Obama, Kerry and Cameron who insist that Jihadi savagery has “nothing to do with Islam.”

There are no doubt many in your position. Islam is not the fastest growing religion because of any innate goodness, but due to birth rates. Islam is completely centered around the prophet Muhammad. His life and times are crucial for understanding your faith. I am sure that in your life you have been told what a wonderful guy he was, and that Muslims are blessed by his teachings. Not unlike in the pre-reformation days of Christianity, few could read scripture for themselves, as people were both illiterate and there was nothing in their own language. Followers were left to believe only what they heard or were told. You are obviously NOT illiterate, but many in Islam do rely on Imams etc. as 80% of Muslims do not understand Arabic, which is the language of Islam.

Might I suggest you take an honest journey of critical and logical examination of the life of Muhammad and the exegesis of the Koranic verses. I am sorry to say that much of the Koran is incomprehensible without a commentary, that puts it into historical context. If I may be so bold, I would recommend Tafsir by Ibn Kathir, Hadith collections of Imams Bukhari and Muslim. Also read “The Life of Muhammad” by Alfred Guillaume, it is the translation of the edited works of Ibn Hisham from the original biography by Ibn Ishaq. All of these sources are available online, many in PDF format.

You might also have a look at the development of Islamic Fiqh, and the explanations by past Islamic scholars and how it pertained to the Islamic conquests and rule over non-Muslims. This may all take some time, but it sounds to me like you seek the truth and are willing to undertake such a process. Finally I suggest you might source out some websites run by Muslim apostates. Depending on which country you live in, these may be banned like Pakistan. However many of these are excellent sites for helping Muslims in your position. A most prominent one is faithfreedom.org. Check it and others out. It may help you.

The hardest thing for people to do is to break from long held beliefs and customs. For many their lives have been defined by them, and there is a fear of the unknown, of what you will find. A fear of loss, or rejection by friends and family. In the case of Islam this is a severe problem, where your very life may be in jeopardy. I would question the ethical and moral validity of any belief system that needed to be preserved or promoted through threats of death, for examining it or criticizing it.

Lastly, I hope you find the answers you seek. Best of luck and keep us updated. Thanks for your post.

Hmm, I kind of liked the old school Bram Stoker, Bela Lugosi type vampires personally. More charm and social graces, and better attire. But since vampires are all the rage with the kids today, maybe cable TV can create a new series. The Islamic Vampire Diaries could be huge, with spinoff series, and merchandising. Think of the possibilities. Action figures with crazy beards and Kung Fu Grip and a whole line of accessories. Scimitars, suicide vests, RPGs, Korans and removable heads for hours of enjoyment. Barren wasteland and mud shack play sets, Mosque Command Post and Jihad Training Camp and a special Pervert Paradise set. Man this could be pure gold.

Rule of thumb with Jihadi propaganda: When they accuse Israel/America of doing something like this, there is a 99.9% chance they have done it themselves.

Projection is an extremely common feature in propaganda throughout history…

    • cheechakos

      You are correct.
One the favorite accusations of muslims towards the Jewish people is the fictional blood libel in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

There is an actual case of blood libel recorded by the very warlord who ordered and oversaw the making of bread from “creek water flowing red with the blood of 2,500 infidels” he slaughtered in India.

He was a devout muslim warlord who forced the women and children to eat the bread baked with their father’s,husband’s and son’s blood.
He also stated his muslim jihad warriors tried to consume the bread but they became violently ill from the blood of infidels.

The surviving women and children were enslaved and marched off to be sold to other muslims.

  • Charles Martel

I think he misunderstands American modern culture. We now love death as much as he although we go about it differently such as a strict adherence to a complete narccistic society, live for the moment, damn the future, who needs kids, let the state raise them if i mistakenly have any.

  • Charles Martel

If we were really smart, we would leave them alone to allow their despotic rulers to rise and control them like Sadam Hussien did. A dictator can be controlled and our contained. Some cultures need tyrants to rule them.

Muslims should under no circumstances be allowed into our country. We must discriminate. It is the only way to help reclaim our now dying culture.

    • Hank Rearden

      Very sharp. Very profound.

It turns out they need someone as depraved as Saddam Hussein to rule this culture. Maybe there is a milder answer in the Egyptian Army, but maybe that works only in Egypt. we are horrified at the savagery of a Saddam, or an Assad, but maybe that it what it takes to keep these guys in line.

btw, great handle. It is astounding that he is not a day-to-day hero in France given the problems they are dealing with.

Is Allah not the Best Deceiver?
    http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Allah_the_Best_Deceiver

Yes, it is hard to break indoctrination we receive as children, but it is possible.

Be a good human being first and foremost – and it sounds like you are.

Understand that there is *nothing* that ISIS does without it being halal under Sharia. Nothing!

The problem is the deception that was used on you, where only part of the story was told to you. This mirrors exactly the path that Mohammed set, to start with tolerance when you are weak, and move to the genocidal violence once you become stronger.

ISIS are following Mohammed’s path exactly. Is this the path you wish to follow? because to be a pious Muslim necessitates being a very evil human being (just as the torturer, rapist, pedophile, looter, deceiving bandit, Satanic Verse speaker that Mohammed was).

We don’t want to tell you what to do. Unlike Islam, you must choose your own path and use your gift of Free Will to choose between good and evil. But you should understand who Mohammed really was, and what Islam really is (a political system of control, with some badly-plagiarized superstition sprinkled on top):

I suggest you read the bible. Start with Matthew and the other three gospels. You will find that God loves you so much. Jesus died on the cross to redeem us from our sins. Jesus is the greatest example of how to live a holy life.

Jesus answered: “My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.”

  • Hank Rearden

    Wow! Outstanding article.

And one can pencil in the politics. The Muslim Brotherhood started in 1928. Sayyed Qutb wrote in the 1940′s/1950′s.. What was the reason for this? Unlike every other religion, Islam must succeed in this world to prove its truth. But since the rise of the West, it has been failing. It’s last successful battle was 1683.

How to explain this? Hassan al-Banna and Sayyed Qutb came up with the same answer that Ibn Wahab came up with in 1745 – back to basics. And the basics of Islam are unlimited savagery.

Interestingly, the Arab ruling class – usually military – knew just how crazy the MB is. They saw it as their role to run Muslim/Arab societies without destroying them. So they were very harsh to the MBites – Nasser hanged Qutb, for instance.

The Arab strongmen are the people we know – Nasser/Sadat/Mubarak; Saddam Hussein; Hafez/Bashir Assad; the Saudi Royal Family, which is playing both sides of the tracks; Qadaffi; Hasan in Morocco; the ruling families in Algeria and Tunisia.

Arab strongmanism which sort of ran from the end of the Ottoman Empire at the end of WWI to now, has come apart. The signal for this was the victory of the mujahideen over the Soviets in Afghanistan. That was the first Islamic significant victory in 300 years. We think they won because the CIA provided them with Stingers. They think they won because Allah was on their side.

Obama helped the MB get Qadaffi and Mubarak, although the army has intervened in Egypt. Whether our support for the absurdly named “Arab Spring” was from ignorance or intent on Obama’s part, we don’t know.

Israel has been left to hold the line for itself. The U.S. has no idea what to do.

Islam is incapable of ruling on its own. Whatever may have happened in the Golden Age of Islam in the Abassid Caliphate in Baghdad from 700 to the Mongol Invasion in 1250, it ain’t happening now, and a skeptic would say that that flowering was the last of the ancient Persian/Median civilization before Islam stamped it out completely.

So we are in a transition were the settled superiority of the West, which has run from roughly 1550 to now is being challenged. This is not some transitory problem, and that is indicated by what we all know to be the difficulty of American strategy now. Suppose we put an army in at, say, Aleppo and sweep from the Med to Baghdad, taking out everything in between. That gets rid of ISIS in its current form, but…what do we do when we get to Baghdad? Same problem as 2003. Who is going to run the show?

  • Hank Rearden

You have to confront the possibility that Muhammed was a false prophet. Christ warned of false prophets as “by their fruits ye shall know them.” What are the fruits of Islam when you are honest about it?

Islam is a religion of war and only of war. How did it get from Medina in Arabia to Tours in France in 100 years?

Of course there are good people who are Muslims. That does not mean that Islam itself is goodness.

Obama is marble mouthed, inconsistent and incoherent in communicating to the American people why we should destroy ISIS and, I like to think, Assad. By contrast, ISIS declarations are clear, demonstrative and dramatic. They have more weight in the media because they are crafted and filled with psychopathic hate. Our psy-op people and especially our president could learn from them. We have still yet to take the rhetorical ground, that, of course, must come with real ground. Here (below “A double Benghazi for Hillary”) is my “fantasy declaration” by the president when he said he was going to degrade and destroy ISIS.

In short, we have lost the ability to make our declared enemies fear us.
