Southern Poverty Law Center Named Propagandist for Jihad Terrorists

as000016517-300The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a self-described “civil-rights organization” committed to “fighting hate and bigotry,” says that ever since 9/11 a host of “anti-Muslim hate groups”—exhibiting “extreme hostility” toward Muslims—have arisen across the United States. The current edition of SPLC’s quarterly Intelligence Report names David Horowitz as “the godfather of the modern anti-Muslim movement.” The lead accusation in the report says: “For Horowitz, Muslim Student Associations ‘are arms of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the fountainhead of the terrorist jihad against the West.’”

Apparently SPLC deems it bad manners for anyone to notice that when the national Muslim Students Association (MSA) was established in 1963, its three principal founders were all members of—you guessed it—the Muslim Brotherhood. It is equally bad form, in SPLC’s view, to draw any conclusions from the fact that a Muslim Brotherhood memorandum explicitly names the MSA as one of the Brotherhood’s arms, and as an organization that could help the Brotherhood carry out a “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying … Western civilization from within.”

SPLC’s report also turns a blind eye to the fact that in recent years MSA members and guest lecturers in numerous venues have: raised money for Hamas and Hezbollah; professed support for Islamic Jihad; called for Islam to dominate “the halls of Congress”; declared that “the only relationship [Muslims] should have with America is to topple it”; extolled Islamic suicide bombers as noble “martyrs”; and chanted “Death to Israel!” and “Death to the Jews!”

Moreover, Patrick Poole, an anti-terrorism consultant to law-enforcement and the military, notes “a rather lengthy list of top MSA leaders who have been arrested and convicted on a wide array of terrorism charges, ranging from material support of terrorist groups to being actively involved in terrorist plots.” One of the most famous was Anwar Al-Awlaki, who served as president of the Colorado State University MSA and later as chaplain of the George Washington University MSA, before migrating to Yemen where he became a high-ranking leader of al Qaeda.

But by SPLC’s reckoning, not even a shred of “hate” or “bigotry” is evident in any of this. Thus the organization directs its criticism not at the Muslim Students Association or the Muslim Brotherhood, but at the “Islamophobes” who brazenly dare to suggest that the MSA is in any way radical.

SPLC is also squeamish about anyone mentioning the Muslim Brotherhood’s connection to jihad and terrorism, even though the Brotherhood’s own credo states explicitly that “jihad is our way, and death for the sake of God is the highest of our aspirations”; even though Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna himself wrote that “jihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim”; even though al-Banna emphasized that “it is the nature of Islam to dominate [and] to impose its law on all nations”; and even though another Brotherhood leader, Ahmed Yassin, personally founded the jihadist group Hamas, which proudly identifies itself as “one of the wings of the Muslim Brothers in Palestine.” Mohammed Ayoob, Coordinator of the Muslim Studies Program at James Madison College, states outright: “Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.” And Richard Clarke—who served as chief counterterrorism advisor on the U.S. National Security Council during both the Clinton and Bush administrations—told a Senate committee that Hamas, al Qaeda, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad are all “descendants of the membership and ideology of the Muslim Brothers.”

But none of this matters at all to SPLC, which simply views concern over these matters as the paranoia of hateful “Islamophobes.”

SPLC takes further umbrage at Horowitz’s depiction of Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s longtime closest adviser, as a “Muslim Brotherhood operative” who has managed to “penetrate” the U.S. government. Clearly, it is of no consequence to SPLC that Huma’s mother is a well-known advocate of Sharia Law, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s division for women, and a board member of a pro-Hamas Islamic Council that is part of a larger, international terrorist-abetting coalition led by the Brotherhood luminary Yusuf al-Qaradawi. Nor does SPLC care that from 1996-2008, Huma herself was employed by the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA), whose agenda, as Andrew C. McCarthy explains, is “to grow an unassimilated, aggressive population of Islamic supremacists who will gradually but dramatically alter the character of the West.” Neither does SPLC give a whit that for at least seven of those twelve years, Huma’s presence at IMMA overlapped with that of the Institute’s founder, a major Muslim Brotherhood figure with ties to al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

For SPLC, this is all mere trivia that occupies the minds of Islamophobes. Can’t everyone just leave poor little Huma alone?

SPLC’s report also brays at Horowitz’s assertion that “no people have shown themselves as so morally sick as the Palestinians,” and that “in the history of all mankind, there was never a people who strapped bombs on their bodies and killed innocent people.” Curiously, the report fails to prove Horowitz wrong by naming even one other society that likewise engages in such activity. Would you like to venture a guess as to why?

Presumably, all well-intentioned Americans should thank SPLC for its stalwart defense of the honor of the Palestinians, who have demonstrated their inherent good will by electing, in Gaza, a government run by the friendly chaps of Hamas. Hamas, you might recall, is the group whose founding charter declares that jihad is “an individual duty binding on every Muslim man and woman”; that “there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through jihad”; that all peace negotiations are nothing more than a dreary “waste of time”; and that Muslims must heed the Qur’anic exhortation to “come and kill” the Jews.

And let’s not forget the even more genial Palestinian leaders of Fatah in the West Bank, who cheerfully profess their desire to achieve the “complete liberation of Palestine,” meaning the “eradication” of the state of Israel, by means of “armed public revolution” that “will not cease” until “the Zionist state is demolished.”

One doesn’t usually find prose as inspiring as this anywhere outside of a fortune cookie. Oh, if only the Islamophobes that SPLC impugns could somehow be made to appreciate the Palestinians’ good wiil.

Similarly frustrating for SPLC is the inability of those darned Islamophobes to stop being so uptight about the ongoing subjugation, expulsion, ethnic cleansing, and mass slaughter of Christians throughout the Muslim world. The “anti-Muslim” bigots also appear to be hypersensitive about Open Doors USA‘s recently published study indicating that in 41 of the 50 nations worldwide where persecution of Christians is most widespread, the persecutors are Muslims.

But thankfully for all of us, SPLC’s Intelligence Report puts all this information in proper perspective, reminding us that only small-minded, hateful “Islamophobes” see any connection between Islam and jihad—and that if only they’d keep their mouths shut, everyone would get along a lot better.

SPLC’s embrace of the Muslim Brotherhood is as if Morris Dees were to become Tom Metzger’s champion.

Muslim supremacists are on a march to victory by any means necessary with the full sanction of Islam, specifically including terror because it is so effective.

  • Jason P

Excellent defense! The evidence is overwhelming that with atrocities by jihadi growing on a daily basis and the ethnic cleansing of Christian in lands where they’ve existed for close to 2000 years (even Price Charles can’t evade that anymore) the SPLC sees a threat to Muslims by David Horowitz! LMAO, Morris Dees is really paranoid. Ooooo Horowitz is coming! Quick, hide the Muslims in the attic! C’mon, Dees, all that money and no more Klan?

  • info warrior

Poor right wingers, they cannot stand being exposed to the general public. I’ll side with the SPLCs war against the fascists,

    • Pete

It is equally bad form, in SPLC’s view, to draw any conclusions from the fact that a Muslim Brotherhood memorandum explicitly names the MSA as one of the Brotherhood’s arms, and as an organization that could help the Brotherhood carry out a “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying … Western civilization from within.”

Reading comprehension is not your thing is it?

    • J.B.

Rightwing fascists? Is there anything on Earth dumber than a leftroll?

    • objectivefactsmatter

“I’ll side with the SPLCs war against the fascists”

      SPLC are the fascists.

      • JackSpratt

        Exactly, objective.

    • Paul Austin Murphy

info warrior, could you manage – at least in principle – to utter a single sentence without putting the word “right winger”, or “fascist”, or “bigot” in it? Or are ad hominems your speciality?

Uncle Joe Stalin, similarly, used the word “fascist” against virtually all his opponents.

Such a limited vocabulary is usually a good sign that it’s some kind of political automaton who’s speaking.

      • Pete

Maybe he is a reincarnation of Uncle Joe, the murderer of 30 million people.

All kidding aside he is certainly his spiritual heir with his constant throwing around the term fascists (as you pointed out).

    • KansasGirl

      Bless your heart.
From here forth, I will refer to you as Neville Chamberlain. lol

      • knowshistory

Neville chamberlain did not hate the population of his country. he just did not completely understand the situation. please don’t misrepresent info by comparing him to Neville chamberlain. info would have to improve a lot to be merely an appeasing useful idiot, and does not deserve such praise.

        • KansasGirl

When Neville acquiesce to Hitler, he sure as h%ll wasn’t helping his country.
infowarrior (comment deleted) is no better.
          I stand by my comment.

          • knowshistory

you can stand by it, but it is still wrong. chamberlain was a decent man, who was prime minister of a country that had lost an entire generation fighting a totally useless war. the entire country was pacifist, and it took a lot of hitler to change them. chamberlain was a man of his times–no better, no worse. Obama, and stooges like info, are not good people worn out by a terrible and useless war. they are enemies of decent society, and in an adult country, they would be executed. except that in an adult country, Obama would never have been even considered a serious candidate for any political office.

          • KansasGirl

This “decent” Prime Minister gave up without a fight.
Look at the excuses you make for this man.
A true leader would destroy such evil.
Maybe if he would have stood strong against Hitler, he (along with allies) could have lessened the destruction and inhumanity. I know he wasn’t helping the cause.

        • JackSpratt

Neville Chamberlain was an appeaser, like Klinton and Obummer, although Obummer’s motives might be more sinister than just that.

          • nightspore

He went through a period of appeasement (which was inexcusable). But he finally woke up – and began to prepare for the war that he then saw was inevitable. Churchill has a good – and generous – appraisal of him in The Gathering Storm.

The important point is that even at his worst Chamberlain can still be distinguished from the Pod People that are now so common in this country and throughout the West. Perhaps because in his case there was always a bedrock of decency and common sense. With these people, however, there’s nothing.

          • KansasGirl

I see Chamberlain’s acquiescing as a weakness that Hitler took advantage of.
Strong leaders with a moral compass that they would never stray from don’t finally wake up to evil…they see it from the get go.
If only he stood up to Hitler…if only.

    • ben t

As a man with 30 yrs of very marxist activity ( sadly) under his belt, AND NOW A PROUD CONSERVATIVE, I can smell your totalitarianism a mile away. Just what variety of leninist are you?

    • Habbgun

Why does that picture look so familiar? Why is he sniffing his finger for all to see?

Unanswered questions about a weird fascist looking man siding with the SPLC (and the SPLC doesn’t even care).

    • Gee

The Muslims are fascist. You and your moronic SPLC support fascism and genocide

      • JackSpratt

Exactly: Islamofascists. And they were allied with the Axis powers during WWII.

    • fistdeyuma

Hummm, war against fascists? Tell me info, do you support a large government with complete control over everything? Most who speak like you do support this. Do you understand that is also what Fascists do? Have you even looked up the meaning of the word? You Liberals are so great at the name calling. It means you never have to address the real issues.

  • rsilverm

The SPLC is a radical left hate group whose business is going around accusing other people of being hate groups.

    • Joycey

I believe even the FBI have now taken the SPLC off their website and renounced them..

      • Jason P

They still list the SPLC as a “forged partnership:”

Good article in the Washington Times (see Joycey’s link above).

        • Joycey
          • Jason P

Good website with great links. The Harper’s was influential because it was criticism by a fellow leftist. I wish we could get the FBI to break all ties with the SPLC and make a statement. This is unlikely to happen with a Democratic president.

    • Traditional American Values

Being Cultural Marxists their agenda is the destruction of Western Christian civilization, and hey see the Muslim Jihadists as comrades in that agenda, since it’s their Mutual Agenda….The Left are still upset at the collapse of world socialism ,and are hard at work to revive it, and doing it in the Homeland of the freeist country on earth would be the ultimate victory…

  • Gee

I can challenge the statement “Curiously, the report fails to prove Horowitz wrong by naming even one other society that likewise engages in such activity.” The Tamil Tigers did so as well.

    • Morgan Michaels

If the SPLC had mentioned the Tamil Tigers as an example of a group other than the Palestinians who used suicide bombing to advance their goals you might have a point.

      But they didn’t.

So the report still failed to prove Horowitz wrong, because the SPLC doesn’t care as much as you do about actually proving their case. They are looking for the next big donation fix from rich progressives all in a tizzy over yet another Islamaphobic hate group to join the ranks of Daniel Greenfield, Ann Barnhardt, and Casa d’Ice signs. Ferreted out by the intrepid defenders of All-American Dhimmitude.

  • Dana Garcia

I first learned of the jihad threat from Daniel Pipes. Why isn’t he being bashed?

    • Gee

He has been for many decades now

      • JackSpratt

And not just by the Jihadists, the communists too. Oh, that’s right, the SPLC is a communist group.

    • Daniel Greenfield

the SPLC hit piece mentions him too

    • Jason P

Pipes is usually on the list be rarely the subject. His picture is on the page of the report. Pipes’ motto is “radical Islam is the problem; moderate Islam is the solution.” They prefer to take passing hits at Pipes.

  • Jason P

I just read the report. They don’t argue their point but just restate it again and again. Finally they provide examples of his alleged anti-Muslim disposition: his criticism of Norquist and Abedin. That’s all they have? Even if David was wrong on these two, being wrong isn’t being prejudiced. He raised questions of allegiance and that legitimate. Where’s the great vilification of a whole people? The SPLC is really on a witch hunt.

  • truebearing

Projection is always present in accusations made by evil people. No one proves it better than SPLC.

  • 7Liberty12

It would be interesting to see how many Muslim groups are donors to the SPLC.

  • Ken Eliasberg

rsilverm is exactly on the money. The SPLC doesn’t discover hate in others; it projects its own hatred onto others who are shining a light on the source of real hatred. Actually, for the SPLC it is not about hatred at all; it’s about money – their love of money. I would bet the farm that they have either already collected a bundle from Islamist sources or are in the process of trying to do so. The SPLC is a despicable organization! Ken Eliasberg

  • Joycey
  • JackSpratt

The SPLC is one of many communist front groups operating in this country today. The Jihadists are just (one of) the present vehicles to be used to harm the U.S.

  • verneoz

All of these groups like SPLC, are fellow travelers of the Communist movement. The Communists transitioned from the violent overthrow of the US, to a “hollowing out from within” strategy. There is a host of other groups like SPLC, including the ACLU that have roots in the communist movement. The news media, public schools, colleges, and Hollywood are now hand tools in the Communists’ tool box.

  • Kevin Spy

    The Poverty Palace!

  • Long Ben

Mishuganah Dhimmis are those SPLC types.

  • LawReader

Morris Dees will go down in history as perhaps the first human to make a buck as a ‘hate pimp’ – he *finally* found a ‘working’ tele-marketing scam….

Two points – until SPLC lists ‘Reverend’ Al Sharpton – the omnipresent race hustler who’s mouth put 9 New Yorkers in graves – as the hate peddler he is – anything else out of their collect mouth is garbage…

And as regards ‘Islam’, SPLC peddles absolute bullsh**. News from Sweden (of all places) this week reveals at least 60 young girls subjected to genital mutilation, including an entire class of 30 at one school.

If ‘modern Christianity’ had anything *remotely* close to the *weekly* body count Islam currently does – every Christian church in the country would be bulldozed in a matter of weeks.

Hopefully, enough diesel fuel would remain to send the bulldozers over to Morris’s place next…
