Tribes of India who have adopted Christianity are persecuted by Hindus and not Muslims. Not so long ago Churches were burnt down and Christians burnt alive in Orissa-a state of India. In India it is Hindus who oppress and suppress the Christians. Both Christians and Muslims are believers in monotheism (one God);whereas Hindus worship all kinds of weird things like phallus(Linga of Lord Shiva),vagina (Kamakshya Devi of Assam), Goddess Kali's vagina and so on. This apart, theirs is a religion that practices divisiveness. Some ,they believe, are born of Lord Vishnu's feet and hence they are born to serve as serfs (shudras).Others, they believe, are born from better parts of Vishnu's anatomy ,for instance Brahmins are born from the head of this primeval God and Kshatriyas from the arm. To tell you frankly it is the Hindus who are at the root of all evils. Islam is a religion that promotes brotherhood and Christians talk of fellowship in God and calls for Love, forgiveness and supreme sacrifice. There is commonality in history. Why this fight then?

I agree that we must lead by example. To paraphrase St. Francis of Assi, preach the gospel always, use words when necessary.
Here is the problem, Jesus is believed to be God incarnate. He personally told us to go therefore, and make disciples of all nations. He told us to preach the good news. It is impossible to expect a Christian to remain silent on religious matters. If they did, they wouldn't be doing what God told them to do, thereby their own souls would be in jeopardy, for not doing what Jesus commanded. Lastly, they genuinely care about the souls of others. It would be a tragedy to them, if someone went down the wrong road because they were too scared to speak up.
Like everyone else, I am not fond of JW' s & LDS coming to my door, but I understand that it is a requirement for their religion, so I am polite, yet firm.
I do not have any problems with people who speak to me about religion. I have a problem with the use of force, terror, & intimidation to trap someone into a religion (once in, no way out). The facts are simple, one group says Love your neighbor as yourself. The other says to hunt them down & kill them, force heavy taxes, or conversion on you. The 2nd has always done it, is currently doing it all over the world daily, and will continue to do it until all the religions of the world are gone, "allahs religion" is the only one allowed & everyone says no is his prophet & they believe in the last day. The Koran tells them they are the best of all people & everyone should be bowing down to them, others are inferior. There is no golden rule, that only applies to other muslims. When they say islam is peace, it means peace for muslims, or only after the world belongs to allah.
Christians have done bad, horrid things, no doubt. However, Jesus NEVER said to do it. They were going away from his teachings. On the other hand, mo DOES say to murder for him & the religion, to lie to infidels, (it's one of the Bible's big 10). In comparing the two, past & present, it's very obvious which is murderous, hateful toward other religions, women, gays, other versions of the religion, committing rape, murdering of the innocent, keeping women as chattel & under wraps, and on and on.
All religions are not equal and should not be treated as if they were. Killing, rape, child abuse & honor killings makes that not a religion but a criminal enterprise not deserving of the name religion

It doesn't matter what religion your are. If you use violence to advance your religion then you're disappointing God. No religion has the right to force people to convert. It's sad there is so much violence when it's unnecessary. Why can't everyone just practice their religion and convert by example?

Whose is doing all of this today? The Russians and Muslims and even Buddhists are doing this today. You are not getting real history off of TV. Take that stuff with a grain of salt. What passes for religion on TV is Marxism mixed with Unitarianism. Check out the "religion" on PBS and see who is behind these programs. We have an agenda driven media today. If the program isn't slanted it won't get on TV. Once in a while they will tell a washed down version of the bad guys, like in the "Dancing Boys of Afghanistan," a PBS movie which you may be able to see on the net. Totally disgusting real life for some people.

And what happens if YOU'RE wrong and Christianity or Judaism aren't the only right religions?

I've not only read the Bible but I've studied it along with other religions books.

Did you ever wonder why our founders created a country that was tolerant of ALL religions? Do you even know how many of our founders weren't Christians?

Aren't both sides guilty? Perhaps if people acted like adults and quite infringing on other peoples beliefs things would be more peaceful. Look at how many religions and offshoots there are in the world and most of them think THEIRS is the only right religion. I'm glad my religion doesn't require me to convert others. How boring would it be if we were all the same?

And no, it's not my idea of people being burned at the stake. That happened before the 2oth century.

I'll look that up about the Christians. It wouldn't surprise me. Religions should get along with each other. I know that many people are leaving organized religions because of the fighting.

It's a sad thing that anyone was burned at the stake. I watched a program on it and the lucky ones died really quickly but some people often lasted hours before they died depending on the type of process used. The Church of England and Queen Elizabeth I killed thousands of Catholics after she gained power and the Catholic church killed scholars and anyone who wasn't Catholic. Salvation though torture.

They often burned pagans and heretics at the stake to save their soul. Before relapsed heretics were burned at the stake, most, but not all, heretics were given the chance to recant before being burned alive. I had read about this in one of my classes at college. I wrote a paper about pagan cultures and their run ins with Christian cultures. The pagans did not always win.

Warren H. Carroll wrote: "I have read that "burning at the stake was believed by some medieval authorities and scholars to liberate the sinner from his or her formerly damned state and offer some hope of salvation to the now 'cleansed' soul". They burned heretics, Jews, witches, and others. Christians were only burned if they were guilty of a criminal act or ran afoul of the church.

Thanks for all the info. Isn't it a shame that in this day and age we can't simply agree to disagree and allow everyone to live as they wish as long as they don't infringe on others rights?

They burned heretics, Jews, witches, and others. Christians were only burned if they were guilty of a criminal act or ran afoul of the church.

Thanks for all the info. Isn’t it a shame that in this day and age we can’t simply agree to disagree and allow everyone to live as they wish as long as they don’t infringe on others rights?

Different writers in the Bible Confirmed and repeated the
same version of events which they saw take place, first hand. In the Old Testament, different prophets gave
the same prophesies, different writers gave the same version of events that took place – it is repetitious – the only differences are the writers point-of-view. In the New Testament, the different apostles gave the same version of events from their own experiences and had the same testimony. If you ever actually READ the Bible, you would realize this.

Every Christian & Jew in all ages HOPES for the end of human rule and corruption in the world – but is not looking forward to the tribulation that will come before it. God always uses terms like “a little while” & “soon” while admitting, “…be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” He also stated that no one, not even Christ knew the exact timing of the return or restoration. We believe that this is to keep all generations on their toes & to refrain from sin because it will come as “a thief in the night” – but He DID give us signs to watch for. The Jews are still waiting for their Messiah - I have this 'sign' covered.

The Church put together the Bible because someone had to do it. Many Gnostic versions & writings were being forged as from the apostles and they did what they needed to do – investigate & source all of the documents and put together an ‘authorized’ account of the true scriptures in one Book.

You don’t believe in the Bible because you have never actually read it in it’s entirely and know nothing about it. Anyone can pick out verses. The Bible is the most used reference for secular archeologists not only because of its historical significance, but because it is the most accurate documentation on our historical record.

The Bible has predicted over & over again events that were going to come to pass & did come to pass. If you read the Old Testament prophets & revelations (prophecy is throughout the Bible), you can see the ‘signs’ coming to pass even now. Everything (nations, alliances, cultures, people, attitudes, morals, ethics, and prejudices) are lining up accordingly. The Christian always ‘watches’ for these signs – and always look for them to all come together in their lifetime. But, only God knows how slowly or quickly everything will be fully prepared & ready for the tribulations. Evil is one constant throughout the history of man – but we watch for specific events are which are Biblical ‘landmarks’. But, there is a really good chance that the
Bible will, once again, be banned & burned before the ‘Second Coming’ (it is in the ‘air’) so that the majority of people will have no idea what is actually taking place…because there will be no ‘reference’.

The Bible NEVER states that the ‘world is going to end’ – NEVER. In fact, it states over & over again that the ‘world is without end’. This is just another one of the many
misconstrued ‘views’ that comes from pulling out ‘text & verses’ without actually reading the Bible. It DOES state that every man is appointed ‘once to die and then the judgment’ which
means that there is no ‘reincarnation’ – so we had better get it right the first time. I would rather not be “surprised” and will not take a ‘chance’ with my ‘forever’.

A human rights watch group listed the top countries where people are persecuted for religion the most and Thailand was up there. You can google it. It was just recently.... As for Christians burning people at the stake, they mostly burned other Christians. And they didn't do it to save their souls. They had wars in Europe and the state churches went after the dissenters. Greed and corruption... They went for some Moslems a little earlier because they had invaded Europe and had cut off trade routes to the East. People in Europe were starving because of it. Catholics went after the Jews as well...but mostly protestants. This is why America was started by protestant Calvinists for the most part.... 1453 trade routes cut off.... 1492 Columbus.... Exploration....1620 the Mayflower...Thirty Years War, etc...They came here to get away from the violence. And then had some here as well...thanks to the Jesuits in Quebec and French territories, and the Spanish in Florida and South America...And the protestant churches were besieged from the inside by the atheist Unitarian types...Oliver Cromwell, the Calvinist, started a country in S.A., mostly for the persecuted Jews there..... The Buddhists in Thai. are going after Christians who are caught in the middle of the Muslims and the other violent groups over there.

A bit defensive aren't you?

What about the members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

To find factual info about the New Testament go to the link I posted.

I care because I usually want to know the name of the authors who write things. One doesn't have to be Christian to appreciate the beauty in the Bible or the beauty in most religious books.
