Will Leftists Admit They Were Wrong about Obama?

Barack ObamaThose who voted for Obama should look around at the world and America.  From the economy to quality of life, to Obama’s countless foreign policy mistakes, and the fact that there has never been a time when America has been less respected by the world, how can one not regret voting for President Barack Obama?

After more than five years of serving as President, Barack Obama has been a complete and utter failure.  Will liberals ever admit they were wrong? From the economy, which continues to stagger along, to the continuing raising of taxes and big government, when is enough enough? From the continued expansion of welfare, to the failed stimulus package, arrogant Obama has failed miserably. And let’s not even get started on Obamacare, which has caused more uninsured than ever before and is a colossal failure.

And while domestic policies are surely more important than foreign policy, in a dangerous world a secure America matters.

It is laughable to look back to the 2008 Democratic debate at University of Texas in Austin, when Barack Obama said,

The Bush administration has done so much damage to American foreign relations … If we think that meeting with the president is a privilege that has to be earned, that reinforces the sense that we stand above the rest of the world at this point in time. It’s important for us in undoing the damage that has been done over the last seven years, for the president to be willing to take that extra step.

There is not one single country on planet Earth that America has better relations with today than under the previous Administration. From destabilizing allies in the Middle East to being emasculated by President Putin, Obama is a spineless and ineffectual leader. Whatever one thinks of him, under Bush, people at least feared and respected America.

Remember, President Obama spoke at the General Assembly of the United Nations and, addressing Iran and Russia, urged them to wake up, as “we are no longer in a Cold War.” He gave an interview on a national TV outlet and said, “And so you know, this is not the Cold War. This is not a contest between the United States and Russia.” Are you so sure, Mr. President? Not a cold war?

This Administration asked the Russians to “reset” relations (although what was handed to Russia actually said “overcharge” on it) – and relations have indeed been “reset.” The pendulum of power has swung towards Russia. Obama mocked Romney for claiming that Russians are our “no. 1 geopolitical foe” and retorted: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back.”

Obama also took an “American Apology Tour.” As Mitt Romney wrote in No Apology,

[N]ever before in American history has its president gone before so many foreign audiences to apologize for so many American misdeeds, both real and imagined. It is his ways of signaling that foreign dislike for America is something he understands and that is, at least in part, understandable. There are anti-American fires burning all across the globe; Obama’s words are kindling to them. In his first nine months in office, Obama … issued apologies and criticism of America in speeches in France, England, Turkey, and Cairo.

When one apologizes, one must realize there are consequences. America is in decline, and American leadership isn’t felt in America, or overseas.

Obama said, “You’ve got to be clear, both to our allies and our enemies, about where you stand and what you mean.” Unfortunately, they are very clear.  Our allies don’t trust us, and our enemies know we are full of hot air.  Welcome to Obama’s America. America voted for Obama, as he promised change. From the economy to foreign policy, healthcare to social security, can anyone possibly claim that this Administration has succeeded?

Regardless of where one stands on the political map, it is time to say that choosing Obama was terrible for the American people.

Yes, sure. And pigs will fly. And there is a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

    • fiddler

      Huh? No comment?

    • DB1954

You find something wrong with trying? Futility is often a self-fulfilling prophecy.

      • gray_man

But the leftists did not try to save this country.

  • Lechaim Shedayim

Obama is a socialist and his dream was to weaken America. Obama has harmed America and succeeded as he hoped.

    • Fred_Z

      Obama is not a socialist.

He is an opportunistic con-man who does not care of America is destroyed so long as he remains in power and can live in a style much, much more grand than any king ever did.

  • Ayn rand

Obama is simply a madman intent on destroying America. Economy is awful. The man hates America.

    • DB1954

    • Fred_Z

The man does not hate America. He loves himself so much that there is no room left for any emotion for anyone else at all. He is utterly indifferent to America and Americans. He is a sociopath, not a psychopath.

  • TheOrdinaryMan

No, it’s 1938 calling to warn us; something about appeasement not working, and history repeating itself. There’s going to be a rally in Washington D.C. on May 16th, led by Army & Marine corps vets, from WWII, Korea and Vietnam. They’re going to demand that Obama and Harry Reid step down. Be there or be square. America will rise again.

  • john_freeman0130

No, progressives don’t care about his failures. As my cousins wife, a liberal, has stated, “Obama is cool.” It’s all about the personality cult.

    • fiddler

Scary! That’s the American voter for you. God help us in our future. It’s one reason why I already miss Jay Leno on late night. Fallon is just another shill for Obama. And please, let’s not make this about race. There are myriads of people of color with sense enough to do better than this. We don’t need slogans, we don’t need blatant BS passing as promises, we don’t need a serial blamer. We expect MORE from a president. How about everybody taking responsibility for their vote. Shame on you if you voted because someone was “cool”. You reveal your own ignorance and weak-mindedness. Do us all a favor and use the gray matter you were given! Please! For our kid’s sake — don’t be a lemming!

    • fiddler

      BTW, I’m agreeing with you!

  • chuckie2u

I dare say Germany will awaken from its post WWll slumber and start taking a more active leadership part in EU in solving some of their problems. The world is looking for a strong leader in its quest for a more central governing body among the nations ..

    • DB1954

Germany is sadly burdened by a rapidly declining German population, a growing Islamic population, and labor unions so impossibly enmeshed in the parliamentary government that not even the centrist CDU can act without their approval. Former East German socialists including the former Stasi will probably forever dominate the German media and cultural scene. For that reason, the German left will kill virtually any conservative, free market oriented initiatives by branding them “neo-Nazi.”

      • Drakken

The Germans socialist model is rapidly running out of money and the Turkish parasites in their midst are draining them dry, soon, as economic misery comes to bare, that nationalist streak hidden for so long will come out and play.

  • Chiron_Venizelos

    In a word, NO.
Leftists are too arrogant to ever admit when they’ve made a mistake. That’s why we conservatives justifiably refer to them as “left-wing lunatic moon bats,” and that’s when we’re being kind.

  • fiddler

It didn’t help that he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize after having barely warmed his office chair in the Oval Office either.

    • DB1954

Guess who just got the Nobel Peace Prize? None other than Vladimir Putin. Is it any wonder that this honor no longer has any honor?

      • Bryan

Putin was nominated on 5 March this year. He hasn’t won it yet.

Makes you almost wish since Chief Justice Roberts made the “law” inevitable, that it was implemented early and the outcome was felt before 2012, perhaps that in addition to the Bengazi debacle, Solyndra and others might have made a few people bridle their emotional impulse (and stop fraud?) enough to allow a changing of the guard. Nope, we have to have the full force of this Marxist maelstrom with all the instant media built-in damage control to unmask by him and his fawning, fainting faithful. Feeling the financial pinch? That’s what this “Hope and Change” has done.

  • has a clue

does anyone remember Rush Limbaugh saying I hope he fails? If you do remember, do you now understand what he meant?

  • Sheik Yerbouti

The “strength” of leftists is in their absolute inability to ever see themselves as wrong. It simply doesn’t happen. If one of their ideas fails, it is surely the fault of some outside forced and can’t possibly be the flawless design of their plan.

It wouldn’t matter if Obama stood up and admitted everything, the left would whitewash it into the fault of the GOP or all the “racist whites” in America. The one thing that amazes me is that the GOP still thinks they can negotiate with leftists. It’s not possible.

So why is the GOP so freakin stupid? Probably because most of them are left-leaning infiltrators.

    • DB1954

Leftists are all on the regular George Soros payroll.

    • Bryan

More likely the GOP are 1) Afraid of the leftist MSM that many get their news from and/or 2) Are more concerned with staying in power than doing the Right thing.

  • WW4

Obama has certainly not “made us more hated than ever.” The Iraq War was clearly and most obviously our low point in the eyes of the world, as thousands of op-eds and headlines in world media can attest–and even THAT is highly overstating things.

Have you ever heard the saying “She’s just not that into you?” That’s what sites like FPM fail to understand about how little those in other countries spend time actually being concerned about the U.S. They are naturally less preoccupied with the USA than their own countries. And in the eyes of countries whose opinion actually matters, to a one, their own political makeup is to the left of Obama, anyway.

It’s fine to say Obama makes for a diffident presence on the world stage; I’d agree. But to claim Obama has lowered the U.S. in world opinion is pretty absurd.

    • DB1954

omg. clueless is the operative word here.

      • WW4

Claim was that we are more “hated than ever” because of Obama. WE AREN’T. And everything you wasted time typing has nothing to do with anything I wrote.

        Reading comprehension: try it sometime!

        • T100C1970

I agree WW4. We are NOT more hated than ever. We are less respected (or feared if you wish) than ever. In your mind that is a “good thing”. It also a good thing in the mind of Putin and the Iranian Mullahs.. For the rest of us not a good thing.

          • WW4

Less respected: THAT is a legitimate claim. No that is not a good thing in my mind. To the extent that we are, the biggest blow was the Iraq War, and our reputation simply hasn’t recovered because Obama’s drones (which I am not against, btw) and the exposure of the NSA’s activity are very unpopular even among our allies. The world expected someone who would ‘correct’ his predecessors mistakes. Didn’t happen to the degree they thought. So, as I said, Obama has made us a diminished presence on the world stage.

        • DB1954

So it’s your contention that the U.S. is more revered and even loved by the Iranian regime. Hmm, well, now, that’s actually plausible now that Obama has let them develop nuclear bombs.

          • WW4

You are putting words in my mouth (about my “contention”) but I will say this, since you are ever so sensitive about me suggesting Bush had some responsibility:

On Sept. 12, 2001, we all thought there should be a forceful response from the United States. Was your first thought “We need to invade Iraq?” No? Me neither. But you know who did have that thought? Mr. Cheney and Mr. Rumsfeld. This is a matter of record, mind you–not my opinion. And so they began to build their case for why it was the appropriate response. (Meanwhile, there was no serious opposition to the idea of attacking the Taliban, because everyone agreed that was appropriate).

So, yes, eventually Congress–including some democrats who didn’t want to appear “soft” (such principles!)–voted for war authorization. And so began arguably the biggest blunder in our history.

Now that Obama is president, most conservatives have the cover to claim they didn’t think it was a good idea. But I was on this very site at that time–don’t remember any of them. Such principles!

For the record, I don’t “blame” Mr. Bush entirely, and I think he did some good things. Had they not proven to have no understanding of what they were undertaking and how to do it, it wouldn’t the worst idea I’d ever heard. I am certain Bush would not have gone into Iraq again in hindsight. I do blame the people around him–the people who were marginalized and no longer relevant during his second term.

    • Drakken

You haven’t been overseas have you? Obummer is the most derided and distrusted President we have ever had. You can defend Obummer until the cows come home, it still doesn’t change the fact that this guy is by far the worst prez we have ever had.

      • WW4

No, you’re wrong on that claim just given the sheer amount of ink foreign press devoted to disparaging Mr. Bush during his presidency. But there is an element of truth: When Obama was elected, they thought “Oh, this guy will ‘correct’ the mistakes of the the last guy they had, who started that war and who collapsed the economy.” (Hence that ‘pre-emptive’ Nobel prize). But between the drones and Snowden’s NSA revelations they’re thinking “Hey, he’s not much different than the last guy.” Sorry: the world does not look at the USA the same way American conservatives do. They’re to the left of us, pretty much to a country.

        • gray_man

“Oh, this guy will ‘correct’ the mistakes of the the last guy they had, who started that war and who collapsed the economy.”

  • James Keir Baughman

Great article Ron. But it is time we must use the word Communist, rather than dance around Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, Marxists, Leninists, Stalinists, etc, etc, stc. In fact it is now dangerous to let them continue to hide behind these weak and little understood descriptions.

    • DB1954

Communist does indeed fit the description, but ever since I learned the true identity of Barack H. Obama, Jr., back in 2008, I’ve used the more general terms, “Marxist,” “neo-Marxist,” or “proto-Marxist,” to describe him and his sycophant followers. The word “Communist” suggests that he’s beholden to some foreign power such as the defunct Soviet Union. Obama’s ideological betrayal of his own country began in the sick, twisted minds of his parents: (Stanley) Ann Dunham and Frank Marshall Davis.

      • Bryan

The defunct Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics was never Communist. (Reminder – Socialism is an economic system while Republic is a system of determining authority so the two are not mutually exclusive.)
Marxism is a program of class warfare intended to bring on Socialism (very apt considering pres Obama’s campaign and political strategies).
Outside of a small commune, Communism has never and will never exist. Too many complexities like you don’t equally own that ambulance, fire truck, hospital drug supply, military weapons require an over reaching ‘government’ to own stuff..

    • Bryan

Socialist is a more accurate term than Communist. Under Socialism, the government owns everything and everyone is entitled to an equal share regardless of contribution driving down the desire to be productive. Under Communism, the government owns nothing and the people own everything equally (and arguably own nothing) also driving down the desire to be productive. Look at president Obama’s attempts to push government control and level salaries.
There has never been a Communist country. There never will be. There are however, partial-Socialist (somehow, the people in charge always get more than their share) countries that pretend to be Communist.

      • James Keir Baughman

No. As an ardent researcher, it is clear to me that the words Leftist, Left Winger, Marxist, Leninist, Stalinist, Progressive, Democrat, Socialist, etc., etc, ALL ultimately mean Communist…as their goals are ALL Communist goals. Saul Alinsky made it all too clear that it was vital to hide the word Communist to achieve anti-American, anti-free economy goals. Never forget that both Barack and Hillary have intensely studied his anti-American methods revealed in his book “Rules For Radicals.”

    • ZX

      “Pinko scum” works for me.

  • Steven Chavez

No, Ronn, the Left will never admit they’re wrong – that’s part of their diseased thinking. When the facts compel an admission that Leftism has failed (again), the Leftist simply makes up new facts. You can hear them now, claiming that Obama has supposedly made the world a better place, and that the economy is in really good shape, and that Obamacare is a huge success.

Leftists cannot think properly, and it’s basically a waste of time to try to reason with them. We need the strength to overpower them, by elections or by other methods if necessary.

  • uptownsteve

Where was the terrorist attack on American shores under Obama? Oh wait, that was under Bush.

    • JoJoJams

Boston marathon rings a small bell…for starters. There were dozens more perpetrated and thwarted, of terrorist acts on American soil under this administration. Oh, wait….I mean “workplace violence”. Ahem. So, UTS, what’s your point?

      • uptownsteve

The Boston Marathon bombers were US citizens. As are most workplace killers in the US. So were is the anti-US hate? They were nuts.

        • American Patriot

Hey dummy, it doesn’t matter that the Marathon suspects were American citizens. They were still terrorists who committed atrocities because they were Islamists. Russia even warned America about the men since they were from Chenchya, where Russian forces have been fighting against Islamist militant separatists there for many years. The fact is that the Radical-in-Chief has made this country less safe than before. That is a fact.

        • JoJoJams

Steven, come on. Don’t play yourself that much the fool. You darn well know (as American Patriot states in his reply) that the Boston Marathon perpetrators, in spite of their bought and paid for American citizenship, were islamists, blowing up civilians – to commit terror for their “god”. The oldest was even named after Tamerlane, conqueror (and murderer) of tens of millions of Indians!! Islamists doing what they do best – killing for their “god”. At least take their own words to heart, if you can’t believe us! lol.

Ditto my alluding to that Maj. Nadal Hasan(sp?) guy for the “workplace violence” that this administration chose to call his terrorist act, despite the islamists own darn words, writings and rants! (as do you, obviously.)

They weren’t “nuts” – they were piously and religiously following the examples and edicts of their prophet and their “god”. THAT is by their own words! What? Are you so racist and hateful that you can’t take these men at their own words? ((yeah, you and all the other loony lefties out there that refuse to hear what these guys say, and the scriptures they quote…))

          • gray_man

Steve isn’t “playing” the dummy. He believes his own nonsense.

    • gray_man

There were muslim terrorist attacks on America during Thomas Jefferson’s presidency (also during another progressive presidents watch – Clinton)
      And they’ve continued.
      Wake up.

  • DVult

He went to Putin with flowers and a box of chocolate and Putin stole his wallet and car keys. Bozo’s response was “what wallet?” and “I didn’t like that car anyway.”. Next week Putin will help himself to the furniture.

  • thebarnowl

Nothing to do with being a leftist. I didn’t like him from the get-go. I certainly wouldn’t vote Republican just because I dislike Obama.
