Andrew Klavan: What Gender Are You?

In this special episode, our always sensitive host takes a look at the exciting world of gender diversity, where the unusual is normal, even though that can’t be right and doesn’t make a lick of sense. See the video and transcript below.

TRANSCRIPT:

I’m Andrew Klavan and this is the Revolting Truth.

Many of you may remember a time when women were tender and nurturing and modest and men were strong and protective and courtly.  Actually, you might be remembering the movie Meet Me In St. Louis… but I’m sure reality also used to be great.

Today, though, all across America, gender norms are coming under question, laws are being passed to allow people to choose their gender identities, and Time Magazine, always on the cutting edge of irrelevance, has declared transgenderism the new civil rights frontier.

What’s it all about?  Let’s get at the revolting truth.

Gender theorists today believe that the different behaviors and capabilities of men and women are not a reflection of their natural propensities and desires but were imposed on them by the gender stereotypes of society which were created at the conference of the Gender Stereotype Society, held in 1817 at a secluded chateau on the shores of Lake Geneva.  It was there that it was determined by secret ballot that from now on, men would be able to invent things and lie convincingly about their sexual conquests while women would talk a lot about clothes and then make dinner.

These oppressive and confining stereotypes were imposed on the population of the entire globe through repeated exposure to televised football and the movie Cinderella as well as Archie comics dropped from planes on primitive villages where, up to that point, people had been living lives of complete gender equality.

Once we remove these imposed stereotypes, gender theorists believe there will be no inherent differences at all between men and women so that, for instance, someone who felt he was a woman inside a man’s body wouldn’t actually be able to tell the difference and then he wouldn’t have to have his penis cut off and maybe these nightmares I’ve been having would finally stop.

According to U.C. Berkeley’s Gender Equity Resource Center, there are actually a wide range of gender identities. There’s “cisgender,” a person who conforms to society’s expectations of his sex; “gender diverse,” which could include a boy who breaks free of gender norms in order to enjoy musical comedy and get punched in the face out in back of the gym; and there’s “transgender,” a person who changes from, say, male to female in hopes of sneaking into the girl’s bathroom or winning every race at women’s track meets.

To insure respect for these otherly-oriented individuals — or “oddballs” — the Center provides gender neutral pronouns which can be used to refer to a person without giving away the fact that he’s just some guy in a dress.  For instance, instead of he or she, you can use “ze” and instead of him or her you can use “here”…  as in the sentence, “Ze is here…”  although actually it should be “ze is ze,” unless ze is actually here…  but that’s neither here nor zare.

Though some different gender identities are unusual, gender theorists consider them all normal, a word which the dictionary defines as “usual.”  So though to call something unusual normal would be unusual it’s not unusual among gender theorists who are abnormal.

So I hope that’s clear. Or zere.

[Sings plaintively:]  Meet me in St. Louis, Louie, meet me at the fair…

Here is a story from my alma mater the University of Pennsylvania about Jara Krys who originally was Christian Jaramillo. Ze is called she and probably would be offended to be called he but I’ll be offensive and call Ze, he. Penn tuition is outrageously high (as is most tuition) and he had to pay for it. He became a Ze prostitute and makes $2,000 on a good night. He was a Wharton student and probably will come back next year to finish up after he’s earned enough money for breast implants. http://www.thedp.com/article/2014/10/leaving-penn-to-find-herself

The Left is now moviing on; having succeded in “norming” degeneracy, they are now occupied with norming insanity.

    Science!

    • Mo86

Yep. Science says there is male and female. There are a few rare cases of intersex, but this is acknowledged as a birth defect.

  • Big_Foot

I vaguely remember reading about a woman, er, um, person, who proposed the gender-neutral pronouns ve, ver and vim. I don’t remember her, oops, I mean, ver last name, but I think it began with “V”.

  • Mo86

“Why are many right wing people so obsessed with homosexuals, transgender etc?”

Uh, because they are constantly demanding that we celebrate their lifestyles – to the point of changing laws, and SUING people to get their way?

Good grief, do you live under a rock?

    • nomoretraitors

Corn lives in liberaland. That’s worse

  • Gamal

    You’re muxing me up.

  • Biff Henderson

The adult world is so complicated. I miss the days you could just look between your legs.

  • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

You remind a lot of O’Brien in 1984 who holds up four fingers and expects Smith to say it’s five, reality being infinitely malleable according to the needs of the state. Just as there were only four fingers and not five, so there are only two genders, and we’re not about to pretend otherwise for your sake. Nor will we allow you to insist that homosexuality is normal in your quest to (1) undermine the family, and (2) abolish the very concept of normality.

    Understand now?

  • http://www.stubbornthings.org NAHALKIDES

    You’re muxing that up!

  • straightup

Why are many left wing people so obsessed with homosexuals, transgender etc? Do you know one can be homosexual or even transgender and still have left wing views on economics and politics? There is no need for “normalizing” all kinds of sexual and gender diversity nor is there a need to belittle those people either. Just recognize the fact that gender and sexual orientation do not need to dichitome (just 2 options) and leave it that way.

  • nightspore

What if transsexualism is simply a delusion – as even the people at Johns Hopkins are now admitting? (There was an interesting interview – on Patriot Update, I think – with the head of the department that used to perform sex-change operations. They no longer do, because they found it didn’t help these people, and eventually they came around to the idea that these people were suffering from a delusional belief.) Doesn’t this make extolling transsexuals pathological too?

    • Lochlinnie

Eventually? Guess the money ran out.

  • Yael

On the other hand, one could ask why homosexuals, transgender etc. want the other 98% of the world to cooperate in bringing down the cornerstone of western civilization that has for thousands of years been marriage between man and wife as foundation of the family… and all without so much as an honest public debate on the matter before it’s a “done deal.”

    • Darren

“It is clear that marriage, as an institution, should only interest the state because of children and should be viewed as a purely private matter so long as it is childless.” (Bertrand Russell, “Our Sexual Ethics,” in WHY I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN: AND OTHER ESSAYS ON RELIGION AND RELATED SUBJECTS, ed. Paul Edwards [New York: Simon and Schuster, 1957], pp. 168-178)

  • veritaseequitas

I refuse to acknowledge this lunacy.

  • veritaseequitas

Because homosexual and transgender is not normal. It is sinful. And there are a lot, lot, lot of people out there that don’t want this nonsense shoved in their faces or be forced to accept it as normal.
And, it has absolutely nothing to do with politics. It has to do with morality or on the case of these loons, immorality.

    • JayWye

regardless of whether it is “sinful”,it’s not normal, and it IS unhealthy,as defined by science/medicine.

every time you use religion as justification, you lose. people tune you out. you’re NOT going to win any arguments with that.
religion is a PERSONAL belief and morality.

      • veritaseequitas

Well, I’ll tell you what. My belief in Jesus Christ, and the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, is the basis for how I live my life. Consequently that is how I respond to nonsense like homosexual and transgender “rights.”
The fact that you think religion is a losing argument is your OPINION. Nothing more. You are certainly free to voice it. And plenty of people have been told the truth and have been won for Jesus Christ. And THAT is happening everyday.
Apparently you do not believe in the immorality of homosexual/transgender behavior. You only believe that it is not normal (based on what may I ask?), and unhealthy, according to science.
Science will not save you. One day you will be asked to give an accounting by The Creator. What will you say? “But, I believed in Science?” Good luck with that.

      • redneckME

Even as a Christian I completely agree, there are plenty of non-religious arguments to be made against the normalization of homophilia and it never helps the conversation to bring personal beliefs into the mix.

        • 21stCenturySerf

Exactly. Judges twisting the Constitution and obvious will of the people to grant rights that don’t exist is as bad or worse than executive order. This is a deliberate and dangerous attack on the Constitution and rule of law it describes.

    • laura r

its not sinful. only sinful when thrown into my face. if they would just shutup do their thing i wouldnt care.

  • hopkins

Yes, these gender think tanks at universities are insane. But that doesn’t mean that you have to go back to meet me in st. louis. It is a fantasy to imagine that thte culture is going back in time. But it is possible to stand for heterosexual marriage without being a fan of the fifties. But I assume you already know that.

  • JayWye

In the previous 10 years, each of these aims was denied and dismissed by the pansexual left:
    1. “Next thing, gays will be insisting on marriage.”
    2. “The homosexuals will insist in being part of children’s groups, like the Boy Scouts.”
    3. “There will be homosexual curricula for kids in grade schools.” And finally:
    4. “people who don’t fully accept the homosexual agenda will be marginalized and harassed.”

Every goal was vehemently denied, then openly pursued, and every one now has come to pass.

    • Darren

The impetus behind all this nonsense is Mammon. Psychiatrists, surgeons, and pharmaceutical companies make money off of sex-change operations; and same-sex marriage increases revenue for divorce attorneys.

  • Darren

I’ve never understood how gays and lesbians (who for the most part regard homosexuality as natural and normal) could ally themselves with the transgendered (who for the most part regard homosexuality as unspeakably evil). The two views are utterly incompatible. Sine LGBTQQIA has no coherent philosophy, it might as well change its name to WHATEVER.

    • Infidel4Ever

It’s simple really. Homosexuals are a mere 2-3% of the population so they figure “transgendered” are as mentally screwed up as they are and natural allies, Gotta pump up the numbers. Even if they hate each other like poison.
